David Byrne - The Lighthouse Lyrics
I'll build a house of water
I'm searching high and low
Underneath the waves
Where they hit the rocky shore
Out by the lighthouse
Heard nature say
"I'm sorry
For stones and trees down below
For those who tumble in God's name
To an early grave
Into the sea and foam
Like ships tossed in a storm"
And I'm standing all alone
Out by the lighthouse
Covered with words I can read
She had to teach me what to say
And every year we stayed
Out by the lighthouse
I'll build a house so level
With 7 walls long and true
The day we raised that roof up high
Unto the fading light
We sang the whole night through
& no one needed proof
& I could see the moon
Out by the lighthouse

David Byrne The Lighthouse Comments
Life is long is such a great fucking song.
Soul to soul, A kiss and a sigh
Sawed in half, by the passage of time
Halfway home, from a window you see
Chains and bars, but I am still free
Eno plus Byrne= match
Love this record !!
This song hits so many places emotionally and visually. It was featured in the movie Wall Street... finally downloaded it from iTunes. The gentlemen who wrote it are quite cerebral, refreshing.
The chorus level above me got to sing "One Fine Day" with David Byrne. I'm so jealous.
"One fine day" makes me feel so good
Deh dereh deredeh ! 😃👍🏻
This groove is out of fashion, these beats are 20 years old ...
out of fashion is IN fashion.
jeff beamer well now you learn that eno and byrne are never in fashion cos fashion passes but real good music
despatico
this is a really garbage way to listen to byrne/eno
a catdam full blown commercial followed by a friggin garbage -azz music video inbetween each track!? fuqdat..
No me canso de volver a escucharlo!
"I feel my stuff" brilliant song, what a discovery!!!!
Wow how beautifully amazing is David!!!
This album has held up really well, and frankly seems to keep getting better. When it came out it felt kind of jarring and borderline disappointing to me because I was expecting My Life in the Bush of Ghosts 2 for some reason.
More Wrong Way Up than No Pussyfooting...
Hermoso disco!
que cancion <3
The opening track made me cry
Me too. 😥❤

A complete melodic line directly taken from "the sound of silence" (Simon & Garfunel) on the B part of the verse /1st track ("Home").
I'm aware a lot of people will call it "accidental influence" ...
Too much is a bit too much, isn't it ?
Of course. But here, it's only BS. And BS is just BS...
Cheers ! ;-)
Eno's use of a melody from "The Sound of Silence" may be accidental or not, but as Eno and Simon have worked together (most notably on Simon's 2008 album "Surprise," which some reviewers called a collaboration), I think that it was probably a sly tribute, or an "in" joke.
@Sam Y. Maybe...
Anyway, arty characters making BS music.
Nothing else here.
it sounds like Homeward Bound in the chorus bit too but who gives a shit
Yeah- that immediately jumped out at me. But remember Kurt Cobain getting called out for stealing a Boston riff( from "More Than a Feeling"). Tough to know what's going on in the creative process.
This album has a great vibe of flaming lips
Yeah, I never thought of the comparison, but I hear some Yoshimi/Soft Bulletin in a few of the tracks
Hell yeah eno be setting a groove like nobody else's bees wax. whole other level typa shit rite here
"I feel my stuff"- def my favorite track on this great album!
Love I feel my stuff
Life is Long...love it.
Whoa I love the very beginning
great album
Laced with some of the warmest music I've heard from these two, this is an extremely enjoyable & satisfying album! My life would be a far less interesting place to be were it not for Eno & Byrne!
cant get enough of "I Feel My Stuff". The piano and guitar sounds are just SO Eno, I love it
The same here! And its enos favorite from the album he really gets very byrne when he listens to it!
I think my big Nurse is really good.
another GREAT Eno album....with David Byrne....excellent work!!!!
Love it
