An aircheck of Ray Taliaferro, from KGO RADIO, was sampled by Brian Eno and David Byrne and used on "America Is Waiting", the first track on My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. The album was recorded at Wally Heider Studios, around the corner from the KGO radio studios, then at 277 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco.

The voice is of Ray Taliafero, a San Francisco broadcasting legend, who was sadly found dead today.

Yes, the vocal samples are indeed Ray Taliafero. I was born and raised in the SF Bay Area, listened to Ray all the time growing up.

Holger Czukay's meisterwerk 'Movies' pre dates it by a couple of years and was an important influence on this album.

I've always heard it as "taken in again, again", not "takin' it again". "Taken in" seems much more appropriate for the rest of the tone of the lyric...

I had this album since it came out and listened to it for a long time .I always thought it was new ,refreshing and always thought I was the only one who listened to it.Now I'm glad to know I'm not the only one!

Perfectly summed up. I was so let down at Eno's last drop though @Peter Wesley Bastone  Maybe I need to give it time. MLITBOG was way too much for people at the time. I always thought it was a a little to cluttered but eventually I was like "Ohhhhh, Ok, there you are" ....
