David Bowie - Sunday Lyrics

Nothing remains
We could run
when the rain slows
Look for the cars or signs of life
Where the heat goes
Look for the drifters
We should crawl under the bracken
Look for the shafts of light on the road
Where the heat goes

Everything has changed
For in truth, it's the beginning of nothing
And nothing has changed
Everything has changed
For in truth, it's the beginning of an end
And nothing has changed
And everything has changed

[first voice]
In your fear
Of what we have become
Take to the fire
Now we must burn
All that we are
Rise together
Through these clouds
As on wings

[2nd voice]
In your fear, seek only peace
In you fear, seek only love
In your fear, seek only peace
In you fear, seek only love
In your fear, in your fear
As on wings
This is the trip
And this is the business we take
This is our number
All my trials, Lord
Will be remembered
Everything has changed

Bowie lives on in every piece of music he ever wrote and/or sang, he will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who is ever touched by his music, I am grateful for his life's journey, and for his success, which meant I was able to hear his music

  4. MrSlyxx

    Nothing remains........

  5. paul bougie

  16. Crimson Kng

I've been a lifelong Bowie fan but for some reason I just never got around to this album until within the past few months and now I've listened to this song about a hundred times since then.

    Arty Squeezy

Mine is the same story...lifelong since age 11 Bowie fan and I have every other album of his but this one. I discovered this song while researching Annette Peacock and this came up...wow!! I’ve heard it once and it is already in my top ten of his (so difficult to put them into an order like that, there are SOOO many)

  17. Crimson Kng

Only David Bowie can groove like that.

  18. Abhishek Sharma

Someone put this on an overlapping loop already please.

  19. Crimson Kng

Can you feel why he called it Sunday?

  20. Stefan Pütz

ich weiß ich weiß ich muß den Meister hören

  21. White Tower Woodworking

We miss you, sir. Carry on.

  22. anonymous anonymous

    I would've paid 1000 dollars for a Kanye - Bowie collaboration.

    Crimson Kng

That's an interesting comment. I certainly liked the Kanye - McCartney (and Rhiannon) collaboration.

  23. DDball

Is that looping, stuttered guitar sound in 12/4 time?

  24. Thomas Georgantas

    ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦

  25. Daniel Maxwell

Bill Cosby touched my heart accidentally as he was lunging for my
vagina. Joke's on you Cosby, I had my vagina removed last year by
    a surgeon who hates you.

  26. Wayne Sheldon

this was the lost era when people stopped listening..all will be revealed

  27. Jhon evening

    Notning is change and evererything,change,change.....

  28. 2001mimil

everything has changed... nothing has changed.. everything has changed..

  29. David Bowie

    I miss him ..

  30. nick victor

"Sunday"...The start of the week or the end of the week?

  31. Love Sro

    King allah

  32. Adriano Andrade

I simply love this song. I realize why some people don't like this song, its kinda boring and depressing, but it's still one of my favorite Bowie songs.

  33. Isaac Hidalgo

I'm sorry, this guitar part is easily my favorite of all time.

  34. Jarek Brzeziński

    Jeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssss UNIWERSUM jar9 Poland

  35. PiroXiline

I am Anton Latukha, I've made a simple but very fun pun on this song on Facebook.

It turned out things about what I was talking in a pun are the same in the four probable ends (that I found) of that pun.

  36. glo crowhurst

i could listen to this riff until i explode

    Sir Phantasmic

My soul driven addiction knew my heart would overload. ^

  37. Andrea Santa Maria

Rise through clouds, as on wings.

  38. Jens abc

Why does this mind-blowing end-section of this song, with the drums and the synth, not last at least ten minutes longer? That would be epic... it's just over too soon...

    jcBurton2094

Like much in life, it's over too soon. But it's also over at just the right moment, when the song has said what there is to say

    anonymous anonymous

    I'll work on an extension.

  39. Gerald Neal

    Always on the move....

  40. Topspeed350

Saw Mr. Bowie in concert twice...there’s always been Bowie....going to be such a lonely world without him. Goodbye Spaceboy. Love....

  41. Semolina Pilchard

Fucking pathetic comments about his death... Bowie's music lives on.

  42. K-leb

It's near-criminal that the song just fades out shortly after the awesome drum fill.

  43. WinterShiny

When you're a Bowie fan, it does get a bit tiring because every other comment is about how he died... It's truly sad that all of the comments sections are so depressing..

    stonethecrow80

I'm not a fan but this bothers me anyway. Just enjoy his wonderful music

    Alan Newbury

Never tire of a genius as his music will always speak 4 itself the legend lives on and will never ever fade away or ever b repeated in our lifetime all i get from all his work is sheer pleasure happy memories (i had the privaledge of seeinh the great man live 7 times and had been there as a true fan since cing ziggy live i knew then the great man was and always will b very special and his legacy and talent in every field will never ever die as to me he has never really ever left us at all

    Suzie Tschirsch

@Alan Newbury Listening this song and read your comment made me in tears......you are really lucky man I wish I could see him live just one time ! any concert, any live , anything!!

    shiva1008

he didn't die...he just moved on.

    Eve Laing

    "everything has changed."
the mourning is an aspect of what he left behind, just one more earth project. we are blessed by him in grief as well: )
I like that theres a place to easily find other mourners- in online comments - even so long after the day he died.

  44. Stefania Partini

This is a very very sad song. But is really beautiful!

  45. Sandro Petrozzi

This song is very sad,but it's wonderful.

  46. MrBuntudor

17 years ago I said this is one of the best tracks I have ever heard. Rash? No.
17 years on this is still in my all time top ten.
    What a powerhouse.

This track is the bastard child of Ashes To Ashes.
    Very very underestimated song.

    xx

  47. Ger Woo

"In your fear, seek only peace
In you fear, seek only love
In your fear, in your fear
    As on wings
This is the trip".....The man was a genius

  48. Rhoda Borrocks

I heard this on Caroline for the first time just this week, beautiful.
Feels like it could have gone on longer.

  49. urgulp

In your fear, seek only peace

  52. Señor Patroclo

Why goddamnit. His worked suggested inmortality. It felt so.

  54. Gav M

    brilliant

  55. Lemuren Gustav

    We love you David.

  56. mantra3000

I can't believe how all his 2k's records went unnoticed right until Blackstar.

    Thomas Nicolas

The Next Day was a success as well.

    lindomar 20

Not unnoticed at all, there was even a theory back then that Heathen was made based on the 9/11 incidents

    Crimson Kng

I agree with you, Mantra. I didn't get into Heathen, Outside or Reality until recently (2018).

    Abiel Ticas

Actually Heathen had good sales and a good place in the charts (at least in the UK), the same goes for Reality and The Next Day,

    Kitsune Baka

I was listening to this in 2011... Would walk my dog with this in my mp3 player along with Depeche Mode - Sounds of The Universe.

  57. yellowhammer200

"For in truth, its the beginning of nothing and nothing has changed, for in truth its the beginning of an end.." I get tears everytime at that part. Heartbreaking and so true of our times. RIP Bowie

  58. YaddaKhan

I voted this my 2016 album of the year... sure it came out in 2002 but it blows away any of this years stuff.... here's to rediscovery

    ..

  63. YaddaKhan

Oh and by the way.. loved the quirky guitar part.. and build up.. by the time the drums come in you are ready to burst out of your damn chair and dance!!!

  64. YaddaKhan

When I listen to stuff like this I realize how utterly ahead of his time Bowie was and always remained.... screw convention.. make art. He was and will always be considered one of the driving forces in good thought provoking music. Thanks Dave.

  65. Random Light

  75. Miloš Cvetković

Bowie was like a second father to me. I'm still not capable of getting over his death. Why did you have to die, David Bowie?

  90. babycantdance61

Listen to the lyrics, it describes the awful feelings we have thinking of his death. Earth is going to be empty for me.

    Nichole Olive

he's still in our hearts, our eyes, our ears, and on our tongues. He is forever here, there and anywhere.

    TheChileReal

Earth is filled with Bowie's echo in form of various songs inside various albums made in 50 years of musical voyages. His body's gone, but his soul lives within his music.

    Suzie Tschirsch

+TheChileReal Beautifully said and very true, .but miss him dearly.......

    Nawang Jinpa

I still dream of him, sweet dreams always, giving rise to surge of creativity in the following days. Amazing mentor --and his passing was a catalyst for me. I miss him and carry on carrying him
