I like this a lot. Is it as good as The Modern Lovers' original? Of course not, not even close. But that is setting the bar ridiculously high. Judged on it's own merits this is still a lot of fun.

Bowie wishes he were Pablo Picasso or Andy Warhol, I bet. Makes even grander the cover of a song by an early Velvet gropuie. J. Richmond could never receive a better accolade than the increased royalties on this tune. He could drive down the street in a new Eldorado.

While I do agree that Warhol had good instincts & was very perceptive he was also an insecure cock sucking little leach, Pablito was no slouch either.

This IS a Bowie song. The words are the same, but the tune is nothing like the original.

Absolutely agree - this is Bowie through & through - it has the "Bowie Bounce"!

The original Jonathan Richman tune often shines through this Bowie cover version....Bowie +his band/producer changed the rhythms + added new instruments/sound effects, the lyrics are the same anyway. I wonder why people actually argue about this? If you were real musicians you would know how such cover version changes are made. By the way: An excellent cover version.
