David Bowie - Looking For Satellites Lyrics

Nowhere

Come back
Boy's own
Slim tie
Showdown
Can't stop

Where do we go from here?
There's something in the sky
Shining in the light
Spinning and far away

[CHORUS]
Satellite
Satellite
Satellite
Satellite
Looking for satellites
Looking for satellites

Where do we go to now?
There's nothing in our eyes
As lonely as a moon
Misty and far away

[CHORUS]
Satellite
Satellite
Satellite
Satellite
Looking satellites
Looking satellites

Where do we go from here?

I love this album! It's so good! Not as good as Ziggy Stardust or Aladdin Sane, but it gets pretty close. Also this is my favorite song on the album, and might be my favorite of all of his songs.

I was once outside looking at stars with my telescope, and I saw a dot moving through the sky. And then I was like, “it’s a satellite!” And then this song popped in my head, and I was actually “Looking for Satellites” So I put this song on and looked for a couple hours and was successfully.

I feel lucky to say I saw him twice live. Memphis and Nashville.

Got to see him in DC on his ballroom tour in 1996. Was a few feet away from him. Pretty amazing but also sad that he was playing much smaller venues at the time. Would've seen him on his last tour but my ex decided to not take me. Still angry but at least I got to see him once.

Setlist for that show was pretty interesting mix too too...

    Look Back in Anger
    Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)
    The Hearts Filthy Lesson
    Outside

    Hallo Spaceboy
    Breaking Glass
    Baby Universal

In The Know: "Life on Mars" never actually confronts the issue of finding life on an alien planet. Bowie waited to address this issue on 1997's "Looking for Satellites," which was written right around the time the press was abuzz with the possibility of life on the red planet. "Where do we go from here?" Bowie sang on one of the few standout tracks on Earthling. "There's something in the sky/Shining in the light/Spinning and far away."

Maybe its personal sentiment, or the hope that bowie and this song isnt being summed up in a youtube paragraph, but how shallow to assume this unique song is influence by "the press" and life on mars. Its a badass track, and drives as deep the english language and the individual mind lets it. Quit dragging bowie thru the mud hes dead for fucks sake.
