Bowie was my idol in high school

One of his best under rated songs evar! The year I graduated HS. 79 was just like this!

Random thoughts. People don’t speak much about Bowie’s “bi-racial” influences and desires. It was interesting to note that the “chillest” people out on the street part were black men, and not that white dude who tried waving his hands in Bowie’s face, which then prompted a shift in his outward facial expression to one of disgust and menace. And it’s obvious the quasi-spirituality of the “DJ” having “believers” or “disciples” but that it’s all a big bore for Bowie’s interpretation of the matter. Also, underlying all of this is a certain “madness” and “violence” conveyed in Bowie’s campy projections of “fashionistas” and “taste-makers”....”I’ve got believers....believing me!” What a trope! Ha ha!

Love Bowie… but the glimpses of late-‘70s/early-‘80s London seen here really steal the show! 👨🏼‍🎤🌃💫❤️

I too was 18 and after his knockout show in 78 (the greatest show ever) I almost got to meet him at a waterside hotel at here in Auckland N.Z. He was in the house bar and was talking to anyone who came up to him to talk. We were so stunned by his show for the next few days. That's amazing that you got to meet that man. Gosh Wow!

David Bowie was a true musical genius and one of the towering giants of rock history. DJ is perhaps his most underrated and underplayed song. It's brilliant and captures all the emptiness and desperation of club life, particularly in the part that begins "time flies when your having fun."
