David Bowie - Breaking Glass Lyrics
Baby, I've been
breaking glass
In your room again
Listen
I drew something awful on it
See
You're such a wonderful person
But you got problems oh-oh-oh-oh
I'll never touch you

David Bowie Breaking Glass Comments
They will play this at my cremation , everybody wearing pink & getting pissed , baying at the moon , laughing at the soil I forfeit .
so many things I wish I could say about that song. but it's hard to explain what it makes me feel. the guitar, with its... confusing(?) bends, something angry about it. The bass, it's tone alone. These short bursts of ascending energy. The bowie's voice, the synth, coming out of nowhere. It's hard to describe music, especially in another language. This certainly doesn't do it justice.
Go bac
K dude not funny anymore.
We know Bowie was a genius. Eno is a great producer/musician, but Tony Visconti should get more credit.
I'm gonna be honest... the song from the live in vancouver is better than the original one
Who da guitR on.dis?
THIS ALBUM MADE ME STRONGER
love love love
Stylaphone!
Just amazing.
I have mental health and it is 2019 but I love this song
2019 is the year for mental health. #AvoidJaySee
This song has been my earworm for days...had to finally just listen to the original, rather than whatever my neurons recorded, way back when...
Also miss Klaus Nomi, all gone back to their planet.
talking heads meet frank zappa
I read that actually, this song is inspired in a fight with Bowie and Angie's Boyfriend
The drum sound on this album is amazing
name a song that is better than this one. you can't XD this is perfection
Happy birthday Duke 💕
Miss , Ziggy so much , Grew up with his music and he was a huge influance on how I grew up
I like to think he wrote this after breaking glassware while intoxicated
This song is only good when performed live, you just get grooving to it and it ends....
Best song of the best album from the best artist.
"You're such a wonderful person, but you've got problems.."
If the sound of breaking glass sounded like this, it would be a very cold Winter
This song needs to be about 100x longer!
I was a Bowie fan before he passed, but I only knew his more popular songs like "Modern Love," "Life on Mars" and "Ashes to Ashes." I'm sad that I didn't listen to underrated gems like "Breaking Glass" until after his death. Low is now my favorite album.
One of my favourite songs.
One of my favourite from the man who made me realise I'm bisexual.
come back, dude. not funny anymore
seriously
Lately I've been breaking glass on my face agaon because he won't make anymore new music.
Jajaksjsjs
Great song, but too short...
Tremendous song!
Genius here.
The 70's
those drums are just incredible...gated reverb drums ala phil collins drums.
This song is entirely too short.
Baby
I've been
Breaking glass in your room again
Listen!...
Don't look
At the carpet
I drew something awful on it
See!...
Youre such a wonderful person
But you got problems
Oooooooohhh
Let me touch you!
the last line is 'I'll never touch you'
@chiara 7 And this is the key line...
just met her: Rachel. "you're a wonderful person, but cha got problems."
it sounds like zz top
low. an all time high of an album.
No one notices what's missing? What's wrong with this recording?
where do you start? lol bowie Berlin phase was full of many contradictions and innovations. its minimalism and its punky new wave as well. intentionally robotic and full of the cut up style lyrics. guessing this was you question.
this song is addictive
What a fucking tune though.
The bass kills me
Sydney Gavigan George Murray was such a great, underrated bass player. He and the drummer, Dennis Davis, were a big part of what made Bowie's late 70's stuff so amazing.
it's a black dude :)
Bowie's finest achievement and the greatest album of the 1970's (and probably the 1980's, too.
although i'm not sooo "old", i remember when i was taking my dog for a walk at the age of 14, listening to that Song on my Walkman ... i miss ya David 😥
My problem with this song is that it doesn't last long enough.
Great song....one of my faves...just wish the song was longer than 1:52
you should check out the live version of the song on his Live album released around this time, that one is three minutes long if I'm not mistaken
KittehHawk yes I completely agree it's one of my favorite's on Low but I wish it was longer
i remember when i was a younger being sick on my girlfriends carpet and singing " dont look at the carpet i did something awful on it " she did not find it funny
Bahahahaha! That's awesome!
Ouch. That carpet was abused.
In Jest , Your such a little puke .!
@Dewey Dewey r/madlads
I was out with a mate on the ale once, and he was sick and then had a bad nosebleed in the middle of it. By the time he'd finished, it looked like a Chile Concarnie
what a way to start the day 😁
Almost too long.
"...shut-up bitch & sing the correct words..."
top! I have the record, but no longer a record player :) great that I can still listen to it, sounds of my youth
"I'll never touch you"
Wife says after I open a beer. Same enjoyment every single time. She's such a wonderful person but she got problems
I have an original of this got myself a record player last week such an amazing album when your not feeling so great
Love George Murray's bass on this song.
Killing it. Bowie has always played with excellent musicians on all of his albums, and Murray is no acception. One hell of a bass player. Trevor Bolder was no slouch either. :P
RIP Dennis
I say to anyone. Listen to Low and Learn about Bowie
Sounds like something Trent Reznor would say
Blackstar was my first Bowie record
While I was a fledgling fan of the Goblin King, this album was my tipping point. I had never heard anything like it, and it remains at the top of my Forever Playlist.
Closer to God!!!
"Such a wonderful person"
But you've got problems!
frythespeakers ..followed by, “ l’ll never touch you “”, I dont think many people who are really into Bowie realize that he had a great sense of humor. Just thought I would throw that in.. you agree? Also, so so many of his songs presented an ambivalence/ ambiguity ; of course we could try to explain/analyze that- but it is so readily apparent that is WHO HE WAS AND HOW HE WAS ; BOWIE !! I’ll let ya go ahead and get into Mr. Bowie’s amazing songs/ videos. Go, go ahead now.. if you are like me, I’m on a Bowie Binge and have not slept ( much )and he “ fuels” me so much that I am so amazingly happy that I think my heart will burst like a balloon 🎈 that’s overfilled with emotions, insights images and awe from this one man who is many men. I’m yours, Mr Bowie!!🎤💫⚡️🎸🎺🎷🎧🎼🎭🗽🗼🌃
best snare sound of the last 10,000 years
what snare drum sounded so good 10,000 years ago?
@notnow000 Cro-Magnon Fiberskin
And next...
Absolutely. The trick to getting the sound is to tighten up the snares. Most snare drums will have a screw to do this :)
filtered through the synthesizers filter modulated by an lfo sounds like =)
The most beautiful for me... just the one
amazing album
CLASS just CLASS nuff said ....
Love this song. Really made me laugh hard the first time I heard it, it's brilliantly funny
cough* laughing gnome
done n get to sleep ha..........................
I wouldn't be surprised if Franz Ferdinand said this song inspired them !
Mata Hari by the voice? or by what?
Roberto Enriquez all of it lol
I believe the same could be said of Iggys "Some Weird Sin". You can hear these influences in Franz, QOTSA, King Gizzard and..., etc. Iggy and David, along with Eno, Belew, Lou Reed, Roxy Music, Wetton, Jobson, Kraftwerk, Fripp, not to mention the likes of Zappa, Beefheart, etc, were pioneers of the alternative, new wave, punk and post punk. They created the blueprint for 21st century alternative rock and they were all new wave and post punk before such terms existed, coexisting in the 70s with first progressive rock (some of these artist have also been labeled progressive), and later disco, funk, and punk before being absorbed by the genres they helped pioneer and the artists who are still with us continue to be among the best of the modern alt rock sound.
Great album both sides, and the cover is classic
aliens are getting their minds blown in the last week listening to bowie transmitting from earths airwaves
Omikron...
another Bowie masterpiece
Release this song tomorrow, it would be a huge hit.
R.I.P LOVE
the whole planet is listening to bowie!
Thank you for all the great music to soundtrack our lives
Song full of symbols and transcended meanings. Bowie has entered into eternity long time ago. RIP.
He fell to earth. Now he's a Starman again
Jan Golden fell from earth
canopener505ify, How dare you! (I envy you, though...according to your comment, you'll get to meet him– I'm very jealous.)
throw a bottle down today
+AA2 or several
love this creepy-ass song. will miss you, D.B.!
This whole album is creepy. I can picture him blowing lines with Iggy at this time.
Scott M I dunno. He's said he went to Berlin to get clean, so I doubt he was doing any of that.
crescentfreshbret He had quit cocaine while in Berlin but he was drinking a lot. Listen to "Nightclubbing" by Iggy Pop, it's also Berlin era from "The Idiot". Brilliant record and also produced by Bowie. They had somenthing truly special going on in Berlin at the time. Low, Idiot, Heroes and Lust for Life are in my best records of all time.
RIP Bowie.
To be played at maximum volume
R.A Weske No, if you hurt your ears you won't listen to Mr. Bowie no more
David Bowie - Lady Grinning Soul good song. like allt e the others even those i had ``doubts`` about such as this is not America or Sorrow
and drunk
Yes. This is my Alpha Male Anthem
.. that line was added for real in one of his ZIGGY STARDUST albums .....
I could listen to this song forever, honestly.
I totally love this, oh my Gosh, wish the song was a little longer, it's too perfect😍
tbh i found david bowie through gerard way from my chemical romance, and i'm really glad i found this woah.
Same I had heard about Bowie but Gerard gave me a reason to listen to Low during his Periscope!
shiloh same
This song is so gREAT.
I Love The Sound of Breaking Glass
So does Nick Lowe
Fabulous xx
Brilliant song - this and "Always Crashing..."
braviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii David Bowie ~ <3 ~ :D:P
wow ...no comments??!!...this was a strange album ..not well received at the time..the brian eno influence was both good and bad .."sound an vision" and this song are pretty good ..the rest is a drug overload mess
You never heard of "Always Crashing in the Same Car" then?
@Tom Maxwell i believe he says: "i drew something awful on it" . but i didnt check the lyrics
@***** Low is genius, one reason why Philip Glass adapted it into a album. It's about alienation, Bowie was under the influence of the Man Who Fell to Earth, which is why stills from the movie were used on the artwork for Low, and the tracks on side two are like the music the earthbound alien Thomas Newton created in the movie knowing it would be played on the radio and his wife stranded on his homeworld would pick it up years later.
@maxdingotm actually, Bowie fled to Berlin to get off his addiction from drugs
it all make sense now liam.thanks
