Apparently, there was a verse cut from this song in which Bowie did his best Bob Dylan impression. I believe it was cut due to it being seen as distasteful with 1977 being the 10th year anniversary of Dylan's extreme motorcycle accident. Idk about the rest of you, but I really want to hear Bowie's Dylan impression

A beautiful, yet scary (and somehow erotic) song. It seems to provide the plot for "Crash," a mid-1990's movie starring Holly Hunter & James Spader. It's basically about several friends who share a bizarre "car crash + sex in the wreckage" fetish (!). Full of violent, bloody sex combined with severe injuries. One of the most psychotic films (and songs) ever made.

Crash was a J.G. Ballard story originally. I don't know if this song and the story are connected intentionally but it could be seen that way.

Nice post. Didn't know that. Still, it's impossible for me not to connect the two. At the very least, I would imagine that Mr. Ballard heard this song before he wrote the story. The similarities are undeniable.

I've always been a passion for David Bowie. Music, style etc. Is was a master of all kinds of Arts. And truly one of a kind in many ways. I know that he's referring to his personal experiences at the time, but whenever I hear it I always think of the scene in Radio On where the main character drives out of late 70s London via Westway. That and J.G. Ballard's "Crash" whose protagonist is always crashing in the same car, literally...

Actually I think you're right. On my favourite music streaming site this version is also the album version. But the version I saved in my playlist was probably an alternative version. So I listened an alternative version for like 2 years ^^ I think I prefer the version I listen though, it seems much better to me.

It would be cool if one day the sessions to this album are released. I'm sure there is some neat stuff there.
