How am I just now seeing this music video for the 1st time? Wow!!!

Dave is legitimately a good actor. Seriously, I’ve seen him play different characters in guest spots on tv and in movies and I’m always struck by what a natural he is. Then you watch this video and he’s so good...his face tells the whole story. I genuinely think if he had really pursued acting he could have been a consistently working thespian if you will. Thank God he didn’t though, because we probably wouldn’t have as much of his music to enjoy.

Dave is amazing, my favorite band of all time...since '91when it all started. I hear people say " his old stuff is so much better..." Well if it all sounded the same as his old stuff they'd be saying "All his songs sound the same." I love his diversity and DMB is absolutely the best band out there. Amos Lee is second to him.

Always loved Dave. I made a huge mistake by not listening to his music for 2 years in 2nd and 3rd grade. Everyone at school made fun of me for loving DMB, so I stopped listening to the music I loved, to start liking stupid boy bands to fit in. And even though I still get made fun of all the time, I love listening to his music and I just plug out other people's mean and rude comments about my choice in music. I would much rather listen to this than the other songs on the radio. I have enjoyed this music for a long time, and I will never stop loving DMB.

Yes, I agree. And he going upon the rooftop is taking control instead of just sitting around in rehab. When he takes matters in his own hands by blowing up his nemesis he releases the 'hold' as he plunges off the building. On impact he dies and exchanges his old self with the renewed (rebirthed) self. He's ecstatic because he's finally free. Now everyone in the Asylum wants him to remain in their control. Their livelihood is now threatened. The addicted is now serving them. Alcohol has an ego.

I think it is about addiction. The man in the suit is the alcohol. "I want you to tell me that you want me" is his addiction talking to him. Like so many addicts, there is a fake self we show to the world. Everyone thinks we've got it all together, but on the inside we feel trapped, locked away.

you can't compare this to other classic dmb videos, mainly because i think he was trying to make a social and political statement with a lot of humor. i smiled through this entire video but i also felt his message. also, the blow up doll is similar to psy...coincidence? i think not

Let me take a shot here, Okay, so in this video Dave meets his alter whom takes over and shows himself, or rather is cloned fake self to the world as some cool cat whose got it all together. But the real Dave is trapped in an Asylum just trying to survive the daily suppression of his true self by the 'Agents' employed in his hell. He releases the balloon as she jumps to his death only to be 'resurrected' and wins sporadic trips inside the head of his clone dancing free to his hearts content.
