I was born in 1973. Always had a connection with music from the 60’s but more so the 70s. I can’t tell how much flack I get from friends and family about it. Going to college in the 90’s and having to be subjected to utter garbage music and the culture in general on daily basis. Dave Mason and Lightfoot, Zeppelin got me through those dismal years. In fact if music ceased to exist after 1985 I would be fine with it.

Cared desperately for this (beautiful, smart, determined, kind) young lady (picture Elizabeth Taylor in "National Velvet" - or Danica Patrick for a younger generation). Got the bright idea I should become a (pro) tennis player. She knew she wanted to be a doctor... And became one... I went on to become... a tennis bum... She realized she needed stability (did I note that she was very smart and very determined?) and I thought I needed to go out "and find myself"... 45 years later and this young lady is still the only girl (woman now) I ever cared this much for... She ended up marrying another doctor, I meandered along for years until I found a "career"...This song is, indeed, the soundtrack of my life...

The simplicity of this message in a song; “there’s only you and me, and we just disagree...” So simply sad; kind of like Carole King’s “Too Late”. This is a beautifully crafted love song. (With great backup vocals by the way!) I do believe it IS a love song. Every relationship goes through this but some can’t get past the disagreement part. Kudos to Dave and this great collection of real musicians!!
