Darkness, The - Live 'Til I Die Lyrics
I was born out of wedlock on the seventeenth day
Of the third month of seventy five
I watched my Daddy working every hour God sends
Just to keep all of my dreams alive
I was the eldest of three, the pressure never got to me
Thinking not of what they'll miss
Until we're standing at the edge of the abyss
Live 'til I die
Laugh 'til I cry
Live 'til I die
Laugh 'til I cry
'Cause I know what I'm looking for
I won't listen any more
Well I went through some changes at the age of fourteen
And discovered all the joys of rock wear
I made a point of wearing unfeasibly tight jeans
And endeavoured just to grow my hair
But kids can be cruel, I wasn't popular at school
I became the subject of a campaign of ridicule
But I'll stick by my guns
And rise above the laughter of the ignorant ones
Live 'til I die
Laugh 'til I cry
Live 'til I die
Laugh 'til I cry
'Cause I know what I'm looking for
I won't listen any more
Any more
And the soundest advice I ever heard a man give
Was Daddy on the subject of the way I want to live
If that's the path you wish to tread
Put all your clothes back on and take it off of your head
'Cause I'll always be here and if you freeze I'll talk you down
You don't have to feel obliged to act the high school clown
I know you've got what it takes
And if you want to you can learn from your mistakes
Live 'til you die
Laugh 'til you cry
Live 'til you die
Laugh 'til you cry

Darkness, The Live 'Til I Die Comments
These songs are great but I do miss the anthem style songs they did on their first couple of albums and Justin’s solo work and Hot Leg. They were simple songs with really catchy riffs, sort of like jingles (makes sense given Justin’s background in jingle writing.)
God Bless The Darkness! Music is alive because of them!!
The message my father left to me
Still a great british rock voice
The new album is frickin great, not a duff song on there, oh, sorry , one quick jazzy weird one
I am asking for a concert in Poland <3
This song is great I love it. I am 46 years old and this song is among the most beautiful I have listened to in my life, and I can swear to you that I have always listened to music ... from the classical to the metal with which I grew up !!! It was like love at first sight. One of those songs that every rock musician with balls would like to compose, is melodic but at the same time it's hard, it's sweet but also violent and then the ending, with a guitar solo that no one expects, is something exceptional, oozes soul , heart and passion. With the entry of Rufus the group had an exponential jump for the better !!!
I live for 3:05! Gosh love love love this!
Dan: "That song has been around since before Permission To Land. We played it at really early gigs. We tried recording it for every album, but it never worked. The difference is that Rufus plays on it. He does these amazing Keith Moon-style fills in the part of the song that needed filling. And crucially he gradually speeds the track up, on purpose, of course. That's what all the great drummers do. And there was none of this click track shit."
Justin: "It's talking about my relationship with music and with my dad. It has the potential to be really dark, but it's got what it needs to drive it through."
Great new album but I think this should have been a single
This track starts off ok and ends up leaving me wanting more...................not many songs do that do me.
This is my favourite song on the album, love it!
Really like this very catchy stuff from the lads!
Foda demais, a melhor do album
sound like in my old times

Que buenos son para mi sin duda junto a muse, biffy clyro , stereophonic lo mejor del reino unido en la actualidad
Very good verse in search of a very good chorus - but I shall support this band regardless
This song was the showstopper of their gigs in Camden back in 2001-2, before they even wrote '...Thing Called Love'. Glad they finally recorded it :-)
Dave Winkler
I wish I could of seen them back then. You’re lucky! I’d really like to see some footage from back then.
Great song, but really disappointed to hear that Easter is cancelled.
I was really looking forward to that.
Eldest of 3. What band is the 3rd one in? Lol
From an interview sometime between Permission and Ticket Justin says it's a sister he doesn't talk to much.
In The Darkness i saw the beauty...
Thanks to exist! With love, from 🇧🇷
"Here I Stand look around around around" Not a dig BTW great track.
At the very start of this track I thought I was listening to 'Turn it On again' by Genesis (another Biblical link!)
Mark Coomber reminds me of Now I’m here by Queen at the intro.
It's a great song. It's a thank you to his father for telling him to be himself and his dad had his back. A great heartfelt song. 'I know you got what it takes, ...you can learn from your mistakes.'
Anyone else feel this song lacks another chorus or something at the end with solos or something? It ends too soon! Great song otherwise.
Great song, from a great band, it seems that the last album is a little serious than the others, this is only my humble opinion
AMAZING!!!
Absolute crap! You guys should be working at Walmart!
So basically, The Darkness are an awesome mashup between Queen and Thin Lizzy. Fucking awesome. Always loved you guys since the first album. Please keep up the good music
André Merlin | With a pinch of Weezer.
A touch of ad/dc and zeppelin British music solution
good work guys
Great album! Love the little VH tribs thrown in. I also love 'heavy metal love'r ha ha. And 'deck chair' is very clever.
Deluxe version for me!.
Give me a “D” ...give me an “arkness”!! Awesome😀🎸
This song is excellent.
Omg you are fuc...ing awesome! Can't wait to see you in Milano for the 2nd time
Yep, I got that also, initial strummy bit at first
Rest assured: rock n roll is well and stronger than ever with The Darkness. Excellent work!!
P.s.: come to Brazil!
Intro plays:
WELL IT RAINS AND IT POURS WHEN YOUR OUT ON YOUR OWN IF I CRASH ON THE COUCH CAN I SLEEP IN MY CLOTHES
Just love the vibe on all the new Darkness. Taking me back to the good ole days.
😍😍😍
Gotta love this band 💘
Great guitar solo
Thanks to The Darkness forever. This piece rocks so well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was born three days after Justin. Coincidence? Or fate?
Typical Darkness...fecking awesome!
I love these smoother tunes. Smashed it again.
Got some Thin Litzy juice.
Why is this band so cringey and cheesy?
Because your taste in music sucks
Lee Logan hit the nail on the head.
Says I guy with the nick Lightbringer
Run off and watch some Taylor Swift ok? That's a good troll.
@Lee Pethers *draws sword ready to chase Trolls back to the 10th Dimensional void*
The new album is sounding fantastic so far, looking forward to the rest!
Best song of the album💎💎💎💎💎
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Gonna be an epic album!
I just love you guys. Darkness forever 🤟
Dudes got pipes ! - Chip Barkhouse The Drummist
Yes! This is amazing!
“Live 'til I die” and “Choke on it” In my opinion these are the best songs from the new album and the rest sounds like fillers.
Seriously? Heart Explodes is their best ballad since Love is Only a Feeling. RNR Deserve to Die has an epic chorus. The title track has a cool Judas Priest esque chorus. Haven't heard the rest but it seems promising. Honestly, this is the most boring one so far.
Another awesome track! Permission To Land - esque! Incredible pre chorus in particular. Very excited indeed for this record. My favs this year include the new Steel Panther, Vltimas, Xentrix, with Darkness, Airbourne and Nile still to come! Love you dudes 🤘
Tung Son Nguyen I concur, defo not as strong in the lyric department as Balls Out etc. I find myself enjoying the lyrics and loving the album regardless, but indeed we shall see what happens with the next one /m/
@WhereNextToConquer I'm Not Your Bitch is my favorite. OK lyrics but Satchel definitely shines in that track
Tung Son Nguyen riffs and solos galore, I love every track on it, particularly that one, Let’s Get High Tonight and Gods Of Pussy. We’ll see what they conjure up for the next album, hopefully with more inspired lyrics lol😁
@WhereNextToConquer I laughed my ass of when Michael sings "Spotify took my last 2 cents" because, guess what, I was listening to the album on Spotify.
Tung Son Nguyen well there you go😂😂, I either buy it on iTunes or get the cd/vinyl so they earn their dues!🤘
Not sure if the Dan really looks like him. But great art and great guitars guys! Pride of Britain!
Love it.
Hello The Darkness.
So looking forward to this, my birthdays in a week, I'm getting my car on the road and summer is coming!! This will be pumped at full volume out my windows!!!! 👍
@Lone Wolf fair play lol, you litteraly sounded like some 18 year old kid that just got his license 🤣 just goes to show, don't judge a book by its cover, rock on bro :)
@hulk 282 that's OK lol, BTW I'm female!👍
@Lone Wolf damn lol rock chick yeah :) sorry for the assumption
@hulk 282 😉
Totally agree - sat listening to the album at work today and after four full listen throughs I can honestly say it's my favourite Darkness album now
Thank God for The Darkness!
You are. The sun !
This could've been on Permission To Land. So great. Sounds awesome. And as always, Rufus' drums are killer.
Jefferson Knight Maybe because it is from the Permission To Land area but only released now !
@Klaus Kiedis Era
Sounds like my top favorite from this album, let's see 🔥
TODAY IS THE DAY
According to Dan, this was originally from the PTL era. Glad it has been released!
Sounds like it, and lyrically makes sense.
Beautiful, can't wait for the album.
Listen 'Til I Die
The lyrics are beautiful!!!! I'm literally crying 🖤
Brilliant, as usual
Haha! Get in, I'm the first view. 😁I'm not bothered about being first view/comment like but just couldn't help noticing. 🤣 Love this song by the way. 😁
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
