Darkest Hour - The Great Oppressor Lyrics
You hear that hidden voice, it tells you
You're never alone
You know the price you'll have to pay
To stay where you are
If anything compels you
I'll be there in that never after
Where everyone is gone
There's not a thought
And not a law put into place
To halt the fall
Of human creation
We'll never see and never understand
Just why we are the human intention
I know you're living a double life
Out of my mind like you're out of my sight
Reminded, rewired, fought envied, desired
I fell in the fire that night
I'll see you there for the rest of your life
Until the end of all time
I see the borders and they tell me
You've never been free
And every voice that's screaming out
Вegging for release
There's not a thought
And not a law put into place
To halt the fall
Of human creation
We'll never see and never understand
Just why we are the human intention
I know you're living a double life
Out of my mind like you're out of my sight
Reminded, rewired, fought envied, desired
I fell in the fire that night
I'll see you there for the rest of your life
The great oppressor buried in a glow so red
Living dead, we want what we can never
Levitated, ravenous, reanimated
Roaming, clawing the earth, a better ending
A slave, not a slave
I don't beg for forgiveness
Or exist in another's head
I won't give in
I'm the passion of someone
Who's never given a shit
I'm the mistake of your life
That tear-soaked embrace
Our one final moment in time and space

That solo tho omgosh then the drums behind it. Straight #EarGasm 🔥👌
Giving me a Miss May I vibe with the screams and guitar
The biggest problem with this album is simply darkest hour put the bar too high with their prior albums. Its not bad, but definitely a step back in many areas. Most notably the lyrics; going from TS Eliot quotes to fairly generic punkish lyrics (in particular, "futurist")its taken me a while but I'm finally starting to at least like the album
and kris norris
i miss paul and ryan
So many feels. Still love DH, but it's never the same when like 60% of the line-up changes.
it whiny ass shit bruhh i hate the soft parts .. the dh sound it still there the lyrics im aure are great but fuck dude the emo ass whines make me sick
yeah the singing here is the furthest from emo singing. You must have a real closed mind. type emo in YouTube and watch some real emo. then you can talk
+PunishThemMetal so what do you call that shit he sings then what do you classify it as?
duhh.. Metal with some clean vocals , not emo at all wtf are you on bufd? wow!
ew... an elitist
agreed. im not really into the singing parts. great band though.
Like old stuffs but I DONT CARE DARKEST HOUR FUCKING ROCKS!!!!
This song is the main reason why I bought this album! I wish there was a live version of it
This is why we love you so much!! Ive been with you since the start and will be with you til the end. Also, please let me help yall wrote new material like your old material but new lol! Pleeeaaaaassssseeee
i think the new album total rocks, they have so more skills nowadays.
2:30 - 3:33 eargasm lml
I wish more songs on this album were like this one :(
aren't the all like this???
I think the vocals during the verses may be mixed just a bit too loud for me to understand whats going on underneath but still enjoying the record so far!
2:57 onward is so fucking good
"I'm the passion of someone who's never given a shiiiiiiit"
The chorus gives me goosebumps, am i alone?
what a masterpeice.
I fucking love this album! Minus a few songs they haven't lossed their touch.
thank god they have travis orbin! he made this band so much more awesome
Epic!!!!!
Can we have the lyrics please ? They are always interesting with this band :D
this is Darkest hour!!!! Great song!!!!
Jesus that fucking riff is beautiful during the chorus.
I know you're living a double life!
God i love darkest hour so much, but i hope that they dont get anymore poppy, because yeah they can pull it off, and i do like it but there other stuff is just better.
If you think this is poppy in any way, then their is something seriously wrong with you.
This a very poppy compared to say Mark of the Judas. Ya spelled there wrong.
I like there new stuff but the verse chorus verse pattern is like them between every song it's starts to bug me a little. . Still a big fan
Taylor Larson is THE producer.
This is probably my favourite from the new album. Love it <3
Best song on the album next to infinite eyes, imo.
doctranate or this and anti axis
This is probably my favorite song the album. Overall a really solid effort by these guys! Been a fan for 8+ years and they've never disappointed me once!
This one kinda fit on Deliver Us
No.. no Spotify? hm.
I second that, a lot of people have been complaining that it's not like their old stuff and to be honest, I'm really liking it so. Oh well xD
@Jack Hollier now hearing the entire album i'm obsed with who mixed, the instrumental isn't sounding heavy, the vocal is over the instrumental, that kinda sucks. :(
I'm really liking it, as I said. I can see why some of the Darkest Hour fans aren't but. everybody likes different things so
@Jack Hollier To me the album as a whole sounds like a great blend between Sadist Nation Darkest Hour and Undoing Ruin/ Deliver Us Darkest Hour while still being able to bring some new elements to the table making it fresh.
@TreiskadekDevil well, i've heard some songs before. but i think that this is really good! I like the mix too actually :)
