Starts out so slow, but the chorus melody saved it. Great words, so true. I tried to save my marriage, he didn't get it. Then a year later saw him, we cried. He said he loved me. I wanted to say why didn't you try then, it wouldn't have taken much. He was my best friend & I loved him. I had always felt like God had brought us together because he wasn't my type, didn't even like the thought of dating, but one day something just went through us both, it was such a strange feeling & everything changed. I remember a time when I couldn't get enough of him. I still wonder after 17 yrs if he thinks of me like I do him. If I told u all what I had asked for from him to fix our marriage u would laugh & say "Is that all?". And you men would say, "I could do that"....at least I hope u would if u loved your wife. The guy who said it's 100/100 effort from both partners is right. I lost mine because he thought 50% for 16yrs was enough.

Totally different take. My husband has dementia. I didn't know for many years why our marriage was suffering - this is the perfect song for my missing him. I didn't understand his distance and I missed the man that he was. Unfortunately, it was the end. I miss you, Dave.

All i got to say is thank you Darius Rucker for a great song that worked for me. I knew my wife was listening to the radio i req this song and yes i was acting like the back side of a mule lol. Well we patched up our problems and she came back

This song describes how I felt in my 18 years of marriage. I tried to be the good Christian wife to make things work, but it has to be both people wanting it. You can't make someone love you. I don't miss him now, I'm happier single than I was married.

@Jonnelle Whitney you will find him when you stop looking for him.  Me and my wife went through the same thing.  We both stopped giving each other what we needed.  We have two wonderful boys so we decided to try to work things out.  I can happily say that we have made it through those things.  Now we have different things that we work through.  A lot of people say that marriage shouldn't take constant work but that is a lie.  Marriage just like anything else will constantly evolve and takes constant work.  If you are one that says they don't work and it is great then that means your partner is doing all the work.  Marriage is not 50/50.  Divorce is 50/50.  Marriage is 100/100.  You have to give all that you have to your spouse and likewise your spouse has to give all that they have to you.  Me and my wife finally realized that.  This song made me cry the first time that I sat down and listened to the words because it is where so many couples are including where we were.  We would go weeks if not months without touching each other and it makes me cry whenever I think about it.  It truly is a struggle at times but it is worth it.  Our marriage is stronger now then it was when we first married because of the hardships we made it through.  I will never tell anybody to stay with their spouse or leave their spouse because I don't know their situation but I love mine more now then I ever did.  Marriage has become too easy to walk away from nowadays and we finally decided to put the same effort to keep it as we were putting in to walking away from it times 100.  I hope you find true happiness because it is the greatest thing on earth.   

@Joshua McConnell I really hope that my fiancé can listen to this song and feel the same way you do about your wife. I want him more than anything, but feel like he doesn't want to fix us. it hurts so unbelievably bad.
