Darin, Bobby - My First Night Alone Without You Lyrics

There's an achin' in my head
From the bed I can't get used to
It's these hours in the dark I dread
As I spend my first night without you

Half of me is gone away
Gone the love I've learned to cling to
Tomorrow I will have to find away
To live the rest of my life without you

You who taught me how to live
To be myself
And how to give
Now it's you who's given up on givin'

You want to be the one to teach
To change and now you're out of reach
Like tonight
Oooooh like tonight don't seem worth livin'

Sitting learnin' how to read
Back in school I never liked to
It's just for those little things I'm gonna need
As I put my life together without you

There's an achin' in my head
From the bed I can't get used to
It's these hours in the dark I dread
As I spend my first night without you

Without you, without you, without you
Without you, without you, without you

Darin, Bobby My First Night Alone Without You Comments

would NOT have thought this was Bobby Darin! But it just goes to show how far reaching his talent was. He could do any style, sing any song, slide into any emotion and do it all very well. I like this one. Had never heard it before: Midnight, July 2019.

Please People, People, people if you want to hear the SUPERIOR version of this FANTASTIC song then I suggest you get a album by David Cassidy called CHERISH and listen to David hit some UNBELIEVABLE high notes that will take your breath away.
    IT IS BRILLIANT.
(and it won't make you fall asleep.)
Also while your there why not listen to the other ten tracks... you won't be sorry.
See also Suzi's verdict a few comments below mine.
    Thank you.

Suzi Szabo I totally agree with you, we know BRILLIANT music when we hear it don't we?

Every time I heard this song, my heart grow empty. Ogni volta che ascolto questo brano, il mio cuore si svuota.

Great song but David Cassidy sings this song the best. He puts so much feeling
into it. I even prefer Bonnie Raitts next to this version. Never heard this version before!!!!!

ALL real DARIN FANS WOULD HAVE THIS MOTOWN ALBUM ON VINYL. I don't think they knew how to promote Darin otherwise "Happy"would have been a big hit for him. He was remember, getting very sick by this time. Could do anything!!!

Jane Olivor and her excellent version ARE on youtube

  8. o.... ....

Wonderful song and the inimitable voice of the great Bobby Darin ! o

  9. j.... ....

darinworld is right, this IS Bobby Darin, I also own the vinyl lp !

  10. S.... C....

That is Bobby. I'd know his voice anywhere!

  11. s.... ....

Then you know nothing. The song is a recording from his first motown album. Perhaps adding a copy of the album to your "collection" might be a good move before stating what is and isn't the artist in question!

  12. s.... ....

It's wonderful how people think that this is a poor imitation of Darin when it's Darin singing it. Hardly his finest hour, admittedly, but it is definitely from the 1972 Motown album - the only Darin album yet to appear on CD, incidentally.

  13. F.... A....

Great song, but Bonnie Raitt's version trumps all. Ray Charles' is pretty great, too.

  14. 6.... ....

yes this doesn't sound like Bobby Darin at all. A poor imitation I believe.

I love how different his voice sounds on this recording. I love all Bobby Darin, I would love to buy a recording of this but am having a very hard time finding it. Does anyone know if it is still in circulation? any tips would be much appreciated, thanks!

  16. D.... V....

Dionne Warwick also recorded this tune on her Warner Bros. debut LP in '72 also..this must've been a popular song circulating in the early '70s throughout record companies for their artists to record...Dionne's version is more piano and violin based...

  17. F.... A....

Nice version, still pales in comparison to Bonnie Raitt. Great vocal and great arrangement.

  18. e.... p....

Oh and it was released in 1972 on his last album before his death....

  19. e.... p....

Yeah It is written by K. Vassy The Arrangement was by M. O'Martian and is published through Quill Music....I have this Motown Album and I wish they would release it on cd....the whole album is good!!!

  20. E.... J....
