Dan Bull - Primal Lyrics

It began
The same way
It ended
Let me set the scene, war is a hellish thing
Hellish as it's ever been, redefine what hellish means
It's Evergreen seeing men killing their fellow beings
Unheavenly screams pierced by deafening machines
Sacrificing actual lives and recompensed in pennies each
Said will this deceptive quest for peace never cease?
Did you ever see a friend in need flee in terror, he
Ebbed and weaved between threats and pleas, a wretch indeed
Wet feet drenched deep in the trench's heat, each
Feverish skeleton trembling and clenching teeth
Tell me when the death of a wretch was the centrepiece
He's just another leg wrenched from the centipede
A stampede, a legion proceeding when decreed
Chevaliers, regulars, levied men of every creed
Naïve men of seventeen, each a bel esprit
They've had their last meal, their blood's an aperitif
A fellow dead at the speed at which he fell off his steed
Leaving yet another friend or family member to grieve
Pawns on a board where death is the referee
A living chess piece that'll never get to Queen
There's an enemy for every devotee of the regime
For whom doing the obscene extreme is routine
To then ascend the pecking order ‘til you get to chief
Reset the record to the Pleistocene
Beads of sweat, heaving chest, don't forget to breathe
It seems to be progressive leads to being regressive beasts
The quest to be a better being fettered by aggressive greed
Tens of tens of centuries of horrendous deadly deeds
A veteran can never rest in peace
He's a revenant, a lesson destined to repeat
Repeat
He's a revenant, a lesson destined to repeat
A veteran can never rest in peace
Tens of tens of centuries of horrendous deadly deeds
The quest to be a better being fettered by aggressive greed
It seems to be progressive leads to being regressive beasts
Beads of sweat, heaving chest, don't forget to breathe
Reset the record to the Pleistocene
To then ascend the pecking order ‘til you get to chief

I think this is the crown jewel of Dan's music. The way he is able to play with English and language in this song or The Crew one or Fuck Everythin, really makes me happy to be alive, to be able to exist and experience such skill. Like, wow, that came out of your head!? You're showing me a whole other dimension I wasn't aware of! Thank you for your amazing music Dan, you are a true artist.

    Forward: War is power.

    Backward: War is suffering.

how the fuck did you make a rap sound as amazing as defeating that one impossible boss after 2 weeks?

    *nerdgasm 100*

  4. m.... ....

Blew me away, I was totally happy with the rap before it reversed but as soon as I realized what he was doing... just wow! Mind = blown!!!

  5. s.... ....

People sucking Dan's dick too much. This song is great and the idea of running through it backwards is really cool, but it's not some 200IQ genius move. It works because the rhyme scheme is AAAAAA and all the lines have really vague subject matter and all kind of mean the same thing.
    Still slaps tho.

  6. M.... E....

    This ain't on Spotify

  7. m.... l....

I thought one of the civil war soldiers in this music video looked like Ian from smosh

  45. H.... H....

DIS SONG IS SOO GOOD NICE VID

  46. S.... F....

This has to be my favourite rap on your channel

  47. P.... ....

Its not a palindrome you idiots. Do your research.

The rap works forward and back,
but the words aren't read backwards as in; Today , Yatod.
So he's not even rhyming backwards....chill on the hype.
He's just saying every line he just said except starting with the last jotted down.
Its actually not that serious and anyone can do it.
    I just did .

  48. S.... D....

i wasn't able to pay attention to the amazing lyrics, i was busy looking at that mans inability to handle a bolt action rifle

  49. A.... ....

  56. d.... g....

IT BEGAN THE SAME WAY IT ENDED-IT ENDED THE SAME WAY IT BEGAN DAMNNN

  57. I.... a....

    Holly **** This is awesome

  58. T.... C....

Sweet baby Jesus that was the most epic thing I have ever heard

  59. S.... M....

So all the wars we saw in this video could be the likes of the following:

    - Some sort of future generation war, (most likely a world wide conflict in the 2040’s or 50’s)

    - A conflict clearly set in the bloody events of the Second World War, and judging by the clip from the video, most likely the D-day; Normandy landings of June 6, 1944.

    - We then had a taste of what seemed like the Napoleonic war, or the war of 1812, (or just some major conflict in the 19th or 18th century judging by the soldiers uniform, equipment and stunning amount of soldiers charging through the war torn meadows, a tactic that only soldiers of that time would really endure)

    - After that we where greeted with a man running forwards towards the opposition lying ahead, and quite frankly, judging by the crossbow in the warriors left hand and the rural village he was based in, i can only guess that this image of war was based around the Viking era, or maybe even Anglos and Saxons times.

    - And last but not least, the Stone Age, where we see a clear man of the Stone Age, taking on a sabre tooth tiger in an all-out head on fight, with an unpredicted reason other then the reason to survive off of one another, in the un-forgivable times our founding blood lines where born in to.

Now listen you can call me a nerd, but I just love learning about was has happened and what can happen if we as humans where to fight one another and toil our enemies nerves, as horrible as it is to witness war or learn about the horrors it has produced, you have to admit war is pretty fucking cool to learn about, whilst remembering the brave men and women willing to give their blood for the sake of that act of upholding society and maintaining peace within man kind that is. Because it never hurts to be respectful to those who deserve respect.

    S.... M....

I could be dumb but what are the clips from

  60. A.... H....

    Me: What... That was... WHAT!
    Great job

  61. t.... r....

check it out i draw https://teddrawsthings.deviantart.com/

  62. A.... ....

How is this not epic rap??? Masterpiece and god damn hard work

  63. J.... S....

Imagine if it was reversed in letter order rather than word order. Lol

  64. Y.... P....

If you don’t know how this references too its a trailer from it

  65. M.... E....

    masterpice

  66. C.... N....

    Literally a masterpiece

  67. J.... ....

Let's see Eminem do this kind of shit.

  68. C.... W....

This is not far cry primal

    C.... W....

Callum Whelan it’s the trailer dummy

  69. Y.... H....

So did you write it forwards or backwards? Hmmm

  70. S.... ....

Incredible ! This and Civilization rap are the best !!!!

  71. P.... T....

    Forward then backwards = EPIC!

  72. S.... M....

Absolutely AMAZING!! The backwards part blew me away. So very unique. The beat was fast paced with just a touch of classical baroque. The lyrics time with the beat perfectly. Lyrically strong. Can touch everyone because we all know deep down that there is a universal feeling that war takes us away from our humanity.

  73. P.... ....

It was at 1:57 and I accidentally click at 0:33

    Pretty neat.

  74. G.... C....

This is by far the best rap i have ever heard.

  75. S.... C....

This random moment when you time-traveling unintentionally find you self against a sabretiger and travel back to your own time

  76. D.... :....

The marketing team should have put this song on the live action trailer it would have been the best game trailer ever

  77. U.... W....

Where did u get these clips from?

  78. P.... ....

its pretty damn difficult to describe just how incredible this guy's work is.

  79. C.... S....

1:27 fuck this shit i'm out.

  80. D.... R....

Agh, can anyone find an instrumental version of this anywhere? I seem to not be able!

  81. D.... ....

It's crazy to think that humans haven't changed much since we began. The same type of creature who rubbed twigs together to make a flame also split the atom.

  82. V.... N....

Those lyric right there - art.

  83. D.... ....

ask a mainstream rapper to make something this clever, chances are they can't.

  84. H.... ....

    Is this on iTunes yet?

  85. K.... ....

so i might be wrong but im sure this is the greatest song in the world

  86. M.... N....

    HOLY FUCK,HE CAN RAP BACKWARDS

  87. W.... ....
