Curtis Mayfield - People Get Ready Lyrics

People get ready
There's a train a comin'
You don't need no baggage
You just get on board
All you need is faith
To hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket
You just thank the Lord

So people get ready
There'a a train to Jordan
Picking up passengers
Coast to coast
Faith is the key
Open the doors and board them
There's hope for all
Among those loved the most

There ain't no room
For the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all mankind
Just to save his own
Have pity on those whose
Chances grow thinner
There's no hiding place
Against the Kingdom's throne

So people get ready
There's a train a comin'
You don't need no baggage
You just get on board
All you need is faith
To hear the diesels hummin'
Don't need no ticket
You just thank the Lord

I first heard this song in High School. The
Impression's came to school and sang it. That was in 1968. I loved it then and STILL do. By most accounts it's the most copy copied song ever. From Aretha Franklin to Led Zeppelin. From The Rolling Stones to Rod Stewart.

Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
All the born again of God, adopted sons and daughter, that are saints, must be in Christ and Christ in them, received by faith in the gospel. And the bride of Jesus must be made ready before the LORD JESUS returns back to his own earth to claim us.

Because No unrepentant sinners will inherit the kingdom of God in Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall NOT inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

there must be repentance toward God, and faith toward (or IN) our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21) ... otherwise no salvation no "ticket" for the train to Heaven. the Lord Jesus Christ said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me."

  63. Doranna M

I remember Glendora my mother and Julius my father used to listen to this song and my father had the album, what a heartfelt song for the time of the FIRST civil rights struggle in this country but now in this country we are having to deal with a continuation of the NON- HUMAN that us blacks here in america were treated like in slavery because now Planned Parenthood and Abortion is EXTERMINATING us black people out of america, therefore we won't be here in the FUTURE america in order to enjoy the rights,Freedoms and improved equality gains that we now have. So we still have a way to go to get FULL equality, justice ,and freedom here in america. Also the 14th amendment which guarantees us blacks rights since we were slaves in this country is not being applied to us blacks to protect our life and treat us like a citizen who is now considered a PERSON,as in slavery we were considered an ANIMAL. Well those rights are not being given to the Mexicans and we blacks are STILL considered an ANIMAL here in america. And when you look at Curtis Mayfield as he sings this very Beautiful song he looks just like a Yoruba or Hausa man from West AFrica, which is were they brought most of our forefathers from when they took them to america here and made and had them as their SLAVE. So now we need to go back home to Africa,as this year 2019 is a very prophetic year of our return as the 400 years that we were predicted to be a slave is up this year. Please listen to part 13 1st of the movie Maafa21 in which Dr Martin Luther King jr niece speaks. And black girls please STOP having Abortions and interracial mixing and Marrying and taking birth control and fighting and Murdering one another and they are the MAIN ways that they are planning to Exterminate us blacks and it IS working. Also STOP being HOMOSEXUALS. Black boys and men youall also please STOP interracial mixing and marrying. Over 6,000 years ago this WHOLE world was filled with nobody but us black African people and through mixing and MARRYING we became Extinct, and it is called blanquamiento and soon we will be EXTINCT over this whole planet. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL. HAVE 2 BABIES WITH EACH OTHER BLACK WOMEN AND MEN.
