Cure, The - Three Lyrics
"No," I said, my face close to the ground, "I'll stay as I am."
"You really can annoy a person, I must say. Such a waste of time! Come on, put an end to it."
"The way you shout! In the quiet of the night!" I said.
"Just as you like," he added.
But wheeling suddenly around, he looked at me – I hadn't quite finished yet – and said: "What's this? You're all crooked! What on earth are you up to?"
I won't scream, I'll just stare at him as long as my eyes can stand it.
"Well?" he said.
"Well?" he said.
"Well?" he said.

Cure, The Three Comments
*so that's where they got the startup sound for the Nintendo DS*
the lyrics are actually some passages from Kafka’s Description of a Struggle
That moment at 2:24 when the heavy bass cuts off all the rest of the sound and disappears into the atmosphere is one of my favorite moments on this album. The unsettling mood it creates sets up The Final Sound and A Forest perfectly. Love this song and definitely my favorite Cure album :)
Lyrics:
Enough of that "stand up straight"
What nonsense
"No," I said, my face close to the ground, "I'll stay as I am."
"You really can annoy a person, I must say. Such a waste of time! Come on, put an end to it."
"The way you shout! In the quiet of the night!" I said
"Just as you like," he added
But wheeling suddenly around, he looked at me - I hadn't quite finished yet - and said: "What's this? You're all crooked! What on earth are you up to?"
"Quite right. You're very observant," said I, my head on the seam of his trousers, which was why I couldn't look up properly
I won't scream, I'll just stare at him as long as my eyes can stand it
"Well?" he said
"Well?" he said
"Well?" he said
Wow! I thought I would never know the lyrics, but thanks to you that's changed
Soothing. Erm..not.exactly.
Holy fuck this song is creepy! Gives the image of a home intruder/serial killer breaking in as far as that outro goes.
The best song of seventeen seconds i.m.o. 💓
Agree. But, then is a Forest.
This one he says is about the "eternal triangle" - I like to think of The Cure as centrally being about dialectics - thesis, antithesis, synthesis. Their emotional complexity throughout all the songs as a whole captures this. I agree it's the best and it may even be the "key" to understanding what their significance is.
