Cure, The - The Snakepit Lyrics

Well we're a mile under the ground
And I'm thinking that it's Christmas
And I'm kissing you hard
Like I've got very important business
And no-one knows
And no-one sees us
Because they're drinking themselves senseless
And I'm writhing
And I'm writhing
And I'm writhing in the snakepit

Well I'm out in a car
And it's just full of stupid girls
And I've forgotten how to speak
And I just can't remember a word
And my eyes feel like they're bursting
And they're splitting like plums
And I'm writhing
And I'm writhing
And I'm writhing in the snakepit

They should have included this song in The Vikings tv show when Ragnar was thrown into the snakepit. Granted the words would have no meaning to the episode, but the music would have been great!

One of the most underrated cure song (the kiss me album is too various to be a masterpiece it s a big problem of production and managment of songs, seriously snakepit just before hey you by exemple....?????

    n.... r....

nicolas raoul inspired the name of my first car, (we did use the spare tire well to keep snakes we caught) awesome tune.

    n.... r....

the wild changes between one to the next are paramount to the mood of the record. I mean right away, the change from The Kiss to Catch is just obliterating of any expectations. It is perfect and leaves you guessing all the way through. Just like a passionate relationship

    n.... r....

@ocularisabyssus to me those changes are a mirror to the ups and downs of love relationships and human psychology, which to me, is the cure's central theme over all.. just perfect

  30. C.... D....

    A Classic.

  31. j.... p....

i love that damn f...ing band. This tune is such a  weird shit.

I departed the cube in a disturbing state… chemically instigated and with some truly psychotic emotions… complete uncontrollable retribution, horrendous loathing, and with the most extreme and hurtful intentions… I was driven not from heroism or justice but through temporal madness and a shamefully dark revenge. Thus... In the cold and drizzly moonless night… I visited once again her seediest haunts… all the black and dingy areas that I knew of… The Barbican section was now a pointless exercise… off limits now with all the security and police guards buzzing around…So I started off towards the Cheapside, straight to the Waste Pipe Tavern… and when I arrived, there was clearly no joy at all, but mercifully, remembering from my previous encounter, the torturous pit was thankfully closed down, all chained up. It was I'll admit a dampening step backwards... because it was the surest lead I had up to this point, but still, the establishment needed to be out of business and I was at the very least glad of this untimely closure… Where the hell do I look for her now and what will I do when I succeed?

Jumping across the human tide… I bound alongside the formulations, sheltered beneath the dripping alcoves and was held at some Pawn trader… the business appeared brisk enough, surely a sign of these stringent changes… I waited for a blip and then asked comms for precise directions to the purpose… The steady gush of warm air from whirring condenser vents above, felt agreeable… and I just happened to stay for a few extra moments to dry off a little… Until, the comms alerted that the Old Axe was only but a hundred metres further to the north easterly. Without thinking I called Rosa again… predictably, still no answer? And I cursed like those addicts without the much needed fix up… unavailable… so I took a sure fire measure instead on the mood vape, just to compensate.

You want to know why I hate you?
    Well I'll try and explain.
You remember that day in Paris
When we wandered through the rain
    And promised to each other
That we'd always think the same
    And dreamed that dream
To be two souls as one
And stopped just as the sun set
    And waited for the night
    Outside a glittering building
Of glittering glass and burning light
And in the road before us
    Stood a weary greyish man
Who held a child upon his back
A small boy by the hand
The three of them were dressed in rags
    And thinner than the air
And all six eyes stared fixedly on you

    The father's eyes said "Beautiful!
    How beautiful you are!"
    The boy's eyes said
    "How beautiful!
    She shimmers like a star!"
    The childs eyes uttered nothing
But a mute and utter joy
And filled my heart with shame for us
    At the way we are

I turned to look at you
To read my thoughts upon your face
And gazed so deep into your eyes
    So beautiful and strange
    Until you spoke
And showed me understanding is a dream
    "I hate these people staring
Make them go away from me!"

    The fathers eyes said "Beautiful!
    How beautiful you are!"
    The boys eyes said
"How beautiful! She glitters like a star!"
    The child's eyes uttered joy
And stilled my heart with sadness
    For the way we are

And this is why I hate you
    And how I understand
That no one ever knows or loves another

    Or loves another...

SpongeBob you call me punk why because I dyed my hair purple or I listen to long ass intros huh?

    a.... y....

+alen young All I caught was long-ass intros but I'm going to expand on that. This particular long-ass intro makes the song. I'm with you there. It makes this a delicious and soothing composition. I'm a big fan of repetition too. Kind of expands a moment in time I find. Lovely
