Crystals, The - I Wonder Lyrics

Mama said before I'm grown
I'll find somebody I can call my own
So when the stars are shining bright
I dream about the boy who's gonna hold me tight

And I wonder who he'll be
I wonder if he'll be good to me
I wonder, gosh oh gee
I wonder if he'll love me forever

Every night I close my eyes
And there is something that I visualize
I hear a voice, say, "I love you"
I picture all things that we're gonna do

And I wonder who he'll be
I wonder if he'll be good to me
I wonder, gosh oh gee
Wonder if he'll love me forever

Every day I love him more
Than I did the day before
I will try to make him see
Just how much he means to me

We will meet and fall in love
And make a promise to the stars above
We will talk and get home late
Oh I can see it now, I can hardly wait

And I wonder who he'll be
I wonder if he'll be good to me
I wonder, gosh oh gee
Wonder if he'll love me forever

And I wonder who he'll be
I wonder if he'll be good to me
I wonder, gosh oh gee
Wonder if he'll love me forever

I wonder and ever
I wonder forever
I wonder and ever
I wonder forever
I wonder and ever
I wonder forever

Crystals, The I Wonder Comments
  1. b.... ....

Fantastic....we are never to see the likes of them again...absolutely spot on every time and so gorgeous.

  2. N.... B....

its so crazy how this song is so amazing and done by such a well known group but is so OBSCURE

The record is not without its flaws, as if the Wall Of Sound was put through a sandwich press. but It definitely grew on me. There's lots here to admire: La La's rather heroic lead vocals, managing to somehow get out from and above the flattened-out din, and I especially like the tambourine work which adds a bit of crispy to the edges.

Love this track,, i prefer this to the Ronettes version,, but give the Butterfly's version a listen,,the Crystals version made the top 40 in 1964, in the UK,, the Butterfly's version got to about 114 on the Billboard charts in early 65

  5. S.... S....

The ultimate Wall of Sound sound. Layer upon layer of pulsating energy. Love it!

    Glorious racket!.

  8. S.... F....

This is the most underrated Phil Spector recording. I have been listening to this for over 30 years and it never ceases to amaze me. The original London 45rpm has the best sound.

my all time fav record bought it back in the day and it still sounds as good

what on earth!!!!,totally ruined a great Ronettes song

    S.... M....

The Crystals were the original singers of this song. The Ronettes covered it.

  11. s.... ....

Damn I thought this was a Ronettes original. I gotta say I vastly prefer their version.

  12. A.... C....

I Wonder on A side, Little Boy on B side in the UK. Cannot understand why this wasn't a massive hit. one .. well, two .. of my all time favourite tracks.

    A.... C....

The Beatles and the rest had virtually blown this type of music away by the time it was released.

  13. R.... H....

I still have my 45rpm of this from 1964. Magnificent, cannot understand why it didn't chart here in Sydney especially after Then He Kissed Me got to no.1. in November 1963.

  14. P.... L....

Greatest pop production of all time.
