Can you guys tell me what the meaning of it is, the song i cant really figure it out.

I think the overall atmosphere of this song is hopeless love. U can feel the compassion in his voice and the flow of the song but he cant have her because shes always playing it "cool or safe" so he does too. Ive listened to this song a thousand times and that's how I decipher it. a lot of these songs r about a particular lover or maybe multiple (which is prolly it because their rock stars)
