Cross Canadian Ragweed - 17 Lyrics
Sirens wail and a flashin' light.
Nothing better to do on a Tuesday night,
But give me hell.
Where you headed, what are you out for?
We don't see much of you 'round here anymore.
Well once upon a time you had it all,
You let everybody down.
You're always seventeen in your hometown.
Running from your folks, running from the law.
Running from love, running from your fears, running from it all.
You keep on running boy,
You run yourself in the ground.
You're always seventeen in your hometown.
She probably won't even remember my name,
Just like she didn't back then.
Is she married, is she doing fine,
Does she know about all the nights I lay awake crying
just to know her hand?
The door opens and I run away, just like the same 'ole clown.
You're always seventeen in your hometown.
Running from your folks, running from the law.
Running from love, running from your fears, running from it all
You keep on running boy,
You run yourself in the ground.
You're always seventeen in your hometown.
Well nobody is gonna miss me
No tears will fall, no one's gonna weep
When I hit that road.
My boots are broken, my brain is sore
From keeping up with their little world,
I got a heavy load.
Gonna leave 'em on just like before, I'm big city bound.
You're always seventeen in your hometown.
Running from your folks, running from the law.
Running from love, running from your fears, running from it all.
You keep on running boy,
You run yourself in the ground.
You're always seventeen
Yeah, you're always seventeen
You're always seventeen in your hometown.

Great song, killer video.
I remember when I was seventeen 39 1/2 years ago. I lived in a very small Oklahoma town. Went to a small High School with only 18 kids in my graduating class. I remember a very popular girl in my class that was pretty much “miss everything”.
Her Mom was a teacher at a nearby school. The girl was well known to everyone around with a snotty attitude and perfect attendance for 13 years.
You know the type. New cars, head cheerleader , very pretty, religous, and miss perfect. She was the first girl out of our graduating class that got pregnant out of wedlock. She didn’t marry the guy either. Got a menial job and married 3 or 4 times . Never made anything of herself. She died last year single and alone and was always dependent on her parents for help. I was the only classmate to attend her funeral. This song came out several years ago before her death of course and I always
thought of her when I heard this song because she had it all including a bright future ahead of her and she blew it. She lived in our little town of 200 people her entire life. She’ll always be 17 in that town .
Omg man
Wow..that’s deep man.
Must have been Blair. Lol
Love this song!
Saw him with The Departed in Baton Rouge awhile back - awesome!
exoduos
I use to work at Tumbleweed working the gate to back stage. Man I had fun sitting up the stage for them. They were super nice and very good entertainers
This may be my favorite song of every song ever sung.
Jenny Craig.
They should be a way bigger band than they are
Love this band haven't heard a bad song
One of these guys are from calumet my dad always talks about it but I live 10 minutes away in El Reno Ok
ain’t no way that old Camaro is gonna powerstall with that many people in it. lol.
Are those caterpillars ever gonna mate and have one super badass eyebrow??
If 50
W.t.f ....if you're 50
Don't understand why they never made it mainstream
You pause a video and come back 5 mins later to resume it and it takes 2 minutes to pick it back up. I'll pay for a better option. Anybody got one?
Used to call it "Swamp Rock".
789 idiots that didn't like this song 🖕🇺🇸
Oklahoma outlaws. Keep on running boys!
🔥 🔥 🔥
Solid song that is so damn true.
I know he's an Oklahoma boy (I'm not mistaken, right?) But there's just something about cranking CCR as well as Turnpike Troubadors in my truck while driving through northern Michigan in the summertime. Never felt better.
Man, really wish they were still together. Would kill to go see this live
Man nostalgia is a Bitch!
All inspired by Cody being high at a carnival and looking to Boland and saying "Hey man, im pretty damn high, and the cops around here remember me from when I was 17:. Bold said "Well, Cody, "your always 17 in your hometown"
Alwsome 😎😎😎😎😎🎧🎧🎧🎧🎼🎼🎼🎼🎵🎵🎵🎉🎉🎉🎉🎆🎆🎆🎆🎆
I saw these guys 15 years ago at Austin rodeo in Texas, also saw my future x wife there the same night. This song is on so many levels I can’t even explain

Casey Donahew was their front man and he has a bad ass solo career.
Sorry...It was Cody Canada !
Playing along with the lyrics, I'd LOVE to ask that little law man, "Where are YOU from?"
Not gonna lie, my folks played this song on my 17th birthday
Never had a home town. Sometimes I envy those who do.
Back when country was still good.
What a great song, brings you back to your youth................
This song introduced me to Texas music. Thank y'all so much. I still love ragweed even though you're not together anymore. You're awesome Cody!

Jason Boland inspired this song.
Was this shot in Mobile Al?
Jonathan Davis Perkins Oklahoma
Didn't discover this band til about a year ago. Wish I could of seen them in concert.
i heard ragsdale left for a few years to spend time with his son
I love the Mike McClure cameo.
How is it that Cross Canadian Ragweed is not bigger?!?
They are no longer together
This songs makes me think about the good old days. And also makes me miss the simplness of my youth. Unfortunately now straining down the barrel of 40 and several terrible choices later successes that took a lifetime/childhood to acquire are gone in a blink of an eye. Driving through my Hometown Bethany Oklahoma makes me want to stop the clock backup and do it all over again though Minor Details different I can't elaborate work story is no reason I guess
I feel you I'll be 31 this November and I still can't believe how quickly it's gone by.
the only good thing to come out of Oklahoma.
I am cousins with the drummer :)
Logan Ragsdale explains your last name
This was the essence of Southern Rock in a post Lynyrd Skynyrd time. Ragweed (and the Ragsdale Family) rocked! :)
I love logan
I liked every comment your welcome
His new band is great too Cody Canada and the departed
I wish I could live like these guy, I live in a suburb of Raleigh, NC with my parents (only 13 year old) but my mom grew up in Seguin, TX so she knows what that like. I wish I could move closer to TX and OK.
p.s. Cody Canada is a friend of my mom. 😊😊😊
Tripp has a finger i was born in seguin. Grew up outside of dallas spent every summer in Nixon tx.
honestly coming from an OK native it’s not that different. more fields, more cows, less people, more racists. foods great, and sunsets are beautiful though :-)
I came for the Baldwin motion
back when music was actually good
"You keep on running boy, you'll run yourself in the ground." 🍺🍺🍺

How is it this song only has 1.5MM views?
True story
Texas classic.
Tony Garces Jr yeah but they formed in Stillwater
Frogolicicous Frog 01 I know them personally and they're all from Oklahoma but they moved to Texas after the band was formed, so most of there songs were formed in the state of Texas which makes it a Texas classic
My friend, I was just referring to "Texas" music, aka "Red Dirt". And believe me there's a lot of Ragweed fans here in Texas.
Pretty sure the rest of the band is from Oklahoma. Cody was born in Texas and moved to OK in his teens
Hey y'all. I know that Ragweed was an Oklahoma-based band. Cody and Jeremy both live in TX now, but I can't say for the rest of Ragweed. I was just referring to the Texas music scene, or Red Dirt scene. This song is a classic for the genre, that never got due respect on national radio. That's all I meant. Not trying to start an argument over who was from where, although Cody was actually born in TX. Lol
Funny how they clearly have acoustic guitars in their songs but you never see them playing anything but electric. Simple, uncomplicated music like this is always the best in my opinion.
best music ever!!
this is a good song
Badass!
