Crosby & Nash - Take The Money And Run Lyrics

Take the money and run
Like a thief across a neighbor's yard
Take the money and run
like a ghost out in the night
Take the money and run
'cause you found out that it wasn't hard
to take the money and run
because you were out of sight
You cannot tell me any more lies
You cannot pull the wool over my eyes
Take the money and run

Take the money and run
'cause the summer sun is sinking down
Take the money and run
'cause the four winds may not blow
Take the money and run
'cause the verdict has been handed down
Take the money and run
because there's no place left to go
You cannot give me any more time
You've already taken too much of mine
Take the money and run

Take the money and run
like a thief across a neighbor's yard
Take the money and run
like a dog out in the night
Take the money and run
because you found out that it wasn't hard
to take the money and run
because you were out of sight
You cannot give me any more time
You've already taken too much of mine
Take the money and run

Thanks to David Browne and his great CSN&Y biography and to YouTube for having the songs listed in the book. Cheers!

  2. R.... M....

    Great fucking song

  3. L.... S....

Love this whole album, heard it first in Nov 75 at age 8. Still love it at 50. At the time, about 3 months later, in early 76, I started liking the song Sweet Thing by Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, because I first heard this album before and although it may sound crazy, I felt there was some similarity between the Rufus song and this one. I still have to agree with my earlier self.

  4. E.... M....

Steve Miller, eat your heart out!

This is Crazy! I heard this song as a kid (the 70s... I think only once & haven't heard it since) & for *years* until *today*, I thought it was Paul Simon!

    Y.... ....

Well what reality were you in back then?

They don't sound anything like Paul.

    Y.... ....

Again, I was a kid at the time. Maybe about 6.

    Deep tracks.

  9. M.... H....

Well when auto-tune, samples and what not are used I guess in a way it is fake. And yeah, there always has been shit music but now the airwaves, tv & whatnot are all filled up with generic commercialised crap and anything else barely gets a mention.

  10. M.... H....

Back when they made real music and played real instruments....cool violin.....fantastic drums and guitar.....

    M.... H....

David Lindely is fantastic on this (violin).

  11. A.... R....

So did I the other night. In my area,it's classic rock, soft rock or oldies often.

  12. D.... M....

  13. P.... ....

I don't have the album in front of me, but I believe it's David Lindley. I know he plays on a lot of the songs on ''Wind On The Water''.

I wonder who is playing lead guitar here.

    B.... C....
