Cribs, The - City Of Bugs Lyrics
It came to me like a voice from above
Or like a message in praise of platonic love
And if you stand in the booth
Then you don't have to sit with a stranger
A perfumed gust drifts to my core
Through a cross-hatched door
But I'm a messed up baby
Like the Berlin Wall
Tonight
It came to me like a voice from above
Or like a message in praise of platonic love
But I'm a messed up baby
Like the Berlin Wall
Tonight
Fill the hole with glass...
...Vessels burst after love
But don't go too long without letting them know
That you're there
A perfumed gust drifts to my core
I give it one last look
It was a cross-hatched door
But I'm a messed up
Baby I'm the Berlin Wall
Tonight
You came into reach
Like the Serpent and Peach
Came to me in the dream
That contractions set free
But it's never too late to admit to me
That you're worried
Never a choice
Don't remember your voice
I was born out of glass
I'll return there at last
In a shattering climax
The wall falls
It came to me like a voice from above
Or like a message in praise of platonic love
And if you stand in the booth
Then you don't have to sit with a stranger
You feel the rape of the city of bugs
So fill the hole with glass...
...Vessels burst after love
But don't go too long without letting them know
That you're there
Never a choice
Don't remember your voice
I was born out of glass
I'll return there at last
In a shattering climax
For left out children to carry
A world without sin is a laughable thing
So go out on a limb
Take a stone for a swim
In a shattering climax
The wall falls

Cribs, The City Of Bugs Comments
i fuckin love this band. one of the few bands in recent years who are not only incredibly talented but write genuinely brilliant songs, both musically and lyrically. i've no idea how these guys were never played constantly on radio stations in britain.
there is something special about this song, i don't really know what but i love it
exactly!
after first listening i wasn't impressed but now this is one of my favourites.
This song is still so good... How are The Cribs not more popular?
They're very popular though, they're massive in the UK
The man in the is Phil Anselmo?
"It came to me like a voice from above
Or like a message in praise of platonic love" Woah!!!
This band wrote a bunch of great stuff over the years, they basically decided to side with several other bands from the same scene, they attempted being as creative as possible, indeed their music is loud, concrete and tighten up somehow! If I had to give a rate to their music I'd probably give the utmost because of their naivety and their utter allegiance to a decent sound base! Each hint of alternative tendencies is suitable for the birth of the newer subgenres, their music doesn't tally with a defined style, so many genres work together for a new description of indie, a huge world whose keys are faith and newness.
mate, the cribs are unreal. I love you guys and every cribs fan I love you. peace.✌
saw them last night... so good
The cribs !
thurston moore is singing?
Feel the rape
Shame you had to change your Mac's volume at the beginning.
Is it just me that get seriously fucking rageous with that crying baby advert?
They're from Wakefield
'Like a message in praise of platonic love. But I'm messed up baby like the Berlin Wall tonight.'
can someone tell me what this song is about?
Reminds me of The Chills - Pink Frost.
This is class live.
In a shattering climax, the wall falls <3
the bass on this is quite sik too
You can't seriously put any of they nams in the same sentence and busted and expect to get away with it on a post for a cribs song??? please tell me you are taking the piss...
@braddersthemod
AGREE
I'm kinda out of the loop but - with the almighty JM doing a stint with these boys - would it be like Morrisey, Bono or Jim Kerr doing a guest Vocal with BUSTED? I love JM, these guys are tight, what does he add......? only a question?
Such a quality song, kind of reminds me of the cure. anyone agree? one of the albums of the year by far.
lo idiot
Marr, last night, Osaka. After all those years: face of focussed aggression. Saw the gig for Marr, but Cribs have great sound, too.
it sounds like Lloyd Cole
EPIC! EPIC!
PERFECT! S2
I love it saw them at newcastle uni on wednesday was EPIC
If you had told me at the start of the year that I would like the LPs by The Horrors and the Cribs more than the LPs by the Arctics and Muse I would have wrongly laughed in your face.
This is the best song off the LP. As for the guitar you can tell that Mr. Marr i.e. God himself had a hand in it.
don't they will beat their first two albums.
Much prefer their sound with one guitar, more unique, they starting to sound like other bands now. Not really a criticism though, just prefer them in the early days of their career.
very good song
hope the rest of the album is as good.
you are definitely my hero
go to the site we7, the whole album can be streamed from there, its absolutely immense
where did you get this track from?
