Cray, Robert - I Forgot To Be Your Lover Lyrics

Have I told you
Lately that I love ya?
Well, if I didn't darling
I'm sorry
Did I reach out
And hold ya in my loving arms
O, O, When you needed me

Now I realise that you need love too
And I'll spend my life making up to you

Oh Oh, I forgot to be your lover
And I'm sorry, I'm so sorry

Have I taken the time to share with you
All the burdens that lovers bear
And have I done the little simple things
To show you
Just how much I care

Oo, I've been working for you
Doing all I can
But work all the time, didn't make me a man

Oo Oo, I forgot to be your lover
And I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you somehow Baby

I forgot to be your lover
I'm so sorry
I forgot to be your lover
Gonna make it up to you somehow Baby!

Lawl, expect that Bell WROTE the song in the first place. It's like Bob Dylan and Jimmy Hendrix. Sure, Hendrix made a great version of All Along the Watch Tower, but Dylan's version will always be better because, ya know, he wrote the song. Liking both versions is fine, being a troll and saying one "sucks balls" is not.

    I.... S....

I don't think that just because someone wrote the song it automatically makes that version of the song the best.

  17. E.... B....

    like da picture

    Robert Cray ............Thanks.

  19. S.... S....

I love this track / version . Robert Cray is a Soul man . William Bell , Otis Redding and all those Stax / Atlantic guys would have embraced him.
Soul will never die , Rocky

  23. R.... B....

Don't we wish we had this kind of music, today? The singers of today would have a lot more respect, if only they could sing a song like Robert Cray.Peaceful, soulful, goes straight to the heart. Can't be beat!!!

  24. M.... A....

As much as I like Robert Cray and think that this isn't a bad job, it's not a patch on the William Bell version. I'd rate at as the 3rd best version I've heard.

  25. B.... P....

    Beautiful

  26. E.... R....

Only William Bell should sing that song.

  27. M.... a....

    I Love You

  28. S.... ....

this is music... no wonder HMV doesn't carry it in the suburbs...it is only a fucking greatest hits store

  29. K.... ....

That's it one, who does not like him; stupid...

  30. a.... ....

Another artist that plays his instrument as an extension of his heart and soul while singing the blues. Like Lionel, Robert Cray is Easy like a Sunday morning

  31. l.... ....

Apparently this man knows how to love and he shows it...we all know thats what it should feel like so we love him back.

  32. M.... a....

This tune really touch my soul inside...

  33. l.... ....

Nice to hear Robert's take but one of the problems with making a cover of this song is that the original is probably the best produced track of all time and the studio secrets employed by those producers have long since been forgotten.

  34. C.... ....

    Real music !!!!!

  35. j.... ....

    man, this made my day

  36. C.... ....

this is nice but noone can top the original performed by William Bell. what Robert lacks here is that bittersweet passion that takes complete control at William bells song. peace :)
