Crash Test Dummies - The First Noel Lyrics
The first Noel, the angels did say
Unto certain poor shepherds in fields where they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep
Born is the King of Israel
They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the east beyond them far
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel
Three wise men came from country far
To seek for a king was their intent
And to follow the star wherever it went
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel
Born is the King of Israel

Crash Test Dummies The First Noel Comments
I HATE Christmas music for the most part but I gotta say: this is the BEST version of this carol I have ever heard!
Best rendition of this song I've heard.
Really like this song done by CTD . Didn't they have a video of this ? Brad was in a bath robe with a pipe , classic !
Skammee wish it was available on YouTube
Yeah, I remember watching the video, but it appears to be gone now.
Merry Christmas!
At 1:26, when Ellen sings "It gave great light," I completely fell in love with her.
I'm not really a Christmas fan, but this song, and drummer boy by David Bowie are hands down my fave songs!!!
'No hell, no hell'...
Some how this version isn't on Amazon Music, glad it's still on YouTube
A lot of these so called music platforms don't have songs it should be criminal if they don't have it.
0:40 There's only one thing that is 'so deep,' and everybody knows what that is.
lol - so true
Man it give me goosebumps too
I've seen the official version at six times on Retro TV (Rogers Channel 703) this season. Brad breaks up a fight between the other male CTDs with "...that's not what Christmas is all about". "Gee what is it all about Brad?" "Well I'll tell ya....Ellen.." Ellen starts to play the piano and Brad starts singing.
All the CTD in housecoats or pyjamas.
I miss that video it was here for awhile but has since been removed
And he had a "World's Best Dad" mug :)
I seriously get goosebumps at 2:40 when Brad comes back in for his second solo. I never would have imagined Crash Test Dummies could have that effect on me. :)
I got goosebumps too. Loves it!!!! From Newfoundland!!
This is so beautiful. Brad's voice is perfect for it. Thank you Crash Test Dummies. You were such a talented group - so original and such skilled musicians.
This really is the best version of this song.
My fav version!!!
What happened to the real vid???? It’s been wiped from youtube!!! It used to be the first 4-5 hits on a YT search???
Doesn’t surprise me it being Christian and all. We can’t have that cause it might offend somebody in the mid-east or some other fucked-up shit hole !!! Grrrrr
Sorry for the bad language but it was my favorite Christmas song & vid!
Ya know what? NO I’m not sorry at all!!! It pisses me off that the real vid has been wiped!!!! If my NOT being sorry offends somebody then they can kiss my damn ass!!!!
Region block.
someone has to find the music video for this - Classic Christmas Canadian content right there
@A Sayler If it's decent enough, we'll do it. ✌
im pretty sure its not availible us for some reason.....anyone else?
in the US
@Brenda Amata not in Canada either :(
what can I say, except WOW , Resplinded,
to me it's not Christmas until I have heard this one a few times at least Ellen Reid's voice is amazing!
I wonder how these two crashed into each other?
Save the elvis version ?
This has to be the best version of "The First Noel" I have ever heard.
I mean Bing Crosby's is up there, but he's a piece of shit, so that kinda dampens things.
Absolutely man
same here!
Kevin, you must have be of a foul mind to use such garbage language as that!
Whenever I play this for others, they invariably turn up their noses. It's nice to see that there are a few listeners who understand that this is the definitive version.
What album is this from?!
I came across it a few years ago in a discount shop here in Cork.If you wish I can copy it and post you the copy?
@Joel Walleniusthanks for that tip . I heard this version on the radio in the 90s, and bought "Jingle All The Way" specifically for this song. Imagine my disappointment when it was the later recording.
@A Sayler I can imagine it quite clearly! :-]
Thank the gods for the internet ;)
@A Sayler Try this link, it's the last song on the album, it sounds like the version above to me.
