Craig Wayne Boyd - The Old Rugged Cross Lyrics
On a hill far away stood an Old Rugged Cross
The emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain
Till my trophies at last I lay down
And I will cling to the Old Rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
To the Old Rugged Cross, I will ever be true
It's shame and reproach, gladly bear
Then He'll call me some day to my home far away
Where His glory forever I'll share
And I'll cherish the Old Rugged Cross
And I will cling to the Old Rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
Yeah, I will cling to the Old Rugged Cross
And exchange it some day for a crown

Craig Wayne Boyd The Old Rugged Cross Comments
Thank you Jesus for what you did for me,Words cannot tell you how much i love you.
You have a wonderful voice, I especially love your Old Rugged Cross, I do hope to hear more of the Christian music.
Craig Boyd version is the Best "ever" I've heard in my 55 yrs of my life.....
I still get cold chills every time I hear CWB sing this song!! Love his voice. Diffirent than anybody else. He gave over 100% of his voice to this song. Combined w/his voice, the stage setting, & the musicians no way was CWB not winning The Voice after this performance. So proud for him. Hope he's doing well.
I don't think this was as good as his other performances but I'm not saying it wasn't good
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross
The emblem of suffering and shame
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
And I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
To the old rugged cross I will ever be true
It's shame and reproach gladly bear
Then he'll call me someday to my home far away
Where his glory forever I'll share
And I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
And I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it some day for a crown
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross

I knew when I heard this he won. I play it often. Happy Easter.
Jesus said pick up your cross and follow me. Rejoice in the afflictions.
He sang this sing exactly 3 months to the day before I lost my grandfather. He was a devout christian. I know he shines down on us today. We lost my grandmother 7 days shy of one year ago. I look forward to seeing them again one day. In his glory forever Ill share.
Love his voice
The best versión in the world
This is CHURCH praise GOD
Man, it's been so long since I've heard this one.
If you're going to do Gospel then do it with feeling and passion or don't bother at all. And with reverence and respect, as well.
Thanks Craig. Much Love from Canada.
Best of 2019. Out.

Is there a way to watch the full season 7?
So glad they let him sing that on a competition show on live tv. GOD IS GREAT
They shouldn't have. Not everyone wants to hear it.
@Alexa Medlock America is a christian country. Move to China if you don't like that. Kisses.
Plus: No one cares about your opinion.
@Alexa Medlock Thats not how it works you dunce lmao
@Alexa Medlock it's called Freedom of Religion, not Freedom from Religion. Don't like it, don't listen to it.
Thank you Craig, so much, for bringing,. "The Old Rugged Cross" into the 20th century..All .Glory & Praise goes out to our Savior ,Lord Jesus Christ, our Abba Father, whom is all about forgiving....just ask him...

Awesome! Beautiful song and you do it so beautifully! 🤗
From a time when america was really blessed and good to God eyes.
Wow. Wow. That was amazing. Craig really deserved to win. He really did. He has a very soulful country voice. He reminds me of Travis Tritt a little bit.
Well, he sang The Whiskey Ain't Workin' during his blind audition, and has since sang the song with Travis at some shows.
God is good...Hallelujah!!!!
I keep coming back to listen to him sing this...just awesome...x
Vikki G me too
Vikki G Me too, he is awesome.

Beautiful. Too bad they wouldn't allow a cross to be shown. Very few Christians in high places on this planet. Be of good cheer for the new Heaven and the new Earth are coming. Amen. 🙏🙇👑
Scrappy Doo Too What I don't understand is, Christians have to walk on eggshells & we have to accept all these other religions' ways & traditions. Why should they not have to accept our cross which has so much significance to us? This has bugged me for a long time. Craig Wayne is awesome, huh??
Scrappy Dappy Doo How do you know that they didn’t allow it?
It won't be long either!
so smooth yet so powerful
Tears, tears
God is always good all the time. Thank you Father God for the precious gift that you have given us.
God bless us all
Love it ... This song
God bless you all time
This is ALL I need to start and end my days! Thank you Craig Wayne Boyd!
Cherish. What a word. "I will cherish the old rugged cross." Gives me chills...

I long to see and hear him. someone please tell me if he is a true Christian.. how could he have done that song and the way he did it and not be.. most of my family are singers and musicians and I am so proud of them, I feel like I'm related to Craig. I am the farthest from being a grouppy..I am a 71yr old lady from Baton Rouge La...I get so much from that performance.. God bless you ,
