Cowboy Junkies - Thousand Year Prayer Lyrics

Here we all are at the end of "the century of beauty lost".
We greedily ate what you gave us, the rest we tossed.
We've trapped all your rivers, paved every pass,
Pulled at your sky till we caused it to rip.
But you've got Jimi Hendrix so lets call it an even split.

I've met a girl who has turned my whole world upside down.
The stars I once stretched for, now litter the ground.
I am cursed by too little, or is it too much belief,
In the strength of another man's words.
But I've got a girl, thank you Lord.

Here we all are at the start of another thousand years.
All those love stories, yet to be told.
Ours is this river asleep at our feet,
Blessed by this wet autumn day.
Here we all are...

Just a beautiful song... the first 14 years of this one aren't going well for the planet

"Open" sits on my bedside table. Has since I bought it new. More nights than not it's what's playing through the headphones as I end my day and lay down to sleep. Sometimes I make it through it all. Sometimes not. What I do know is, I've never had a bad dream with Margo's voice in my head. It's one of the most beautiful works of music I've ever heard. Delayed, distorted guitars, piano, drums and all. And "Thousand Year Prayer" one of the best on it. Gorgeous, simply gorgeous.

Isn't that the truth. Back in the day saw them at a very small amphitheater under the summer sky with my lady. What a great time.

Like a piece of amber - time frozen in a moment of beauty. I love Margo's voice and this band's powerful simplicity! The Trinity Sessions addicted me for life over 15 years ago.

    BEAUTIFUL MUSIC AND VOICE .
