Coverdale•Page - Pride And Joy Lyrics

Take me to your river, baby, take me to your sea
Purify my soul and pour your ocean over me
Lead me to your chamber, where you sleep at night
Scratch your name across my back, make me feel alright

You're the best time I have ever had
You look so good, oh babe, you must be bad, ha

Diamonds on your ankles, sapphires on your shoes
Your little gems of wisdom chase away my blues
Mama's little princess, daddy's pride and joy
I'm like a kid at Christmas, playing with your toys, ooh

You shake me in the morning, I wake up black and blue
Ooh child, you act so wild, I'll name a hurricane after you
Scarlet fever kisses, little Miss Dynamite
Youngblood, you look so good, I'm gonna leave on all the lights

So I can see where I'm goin', baby
Play that thing

So take me to your river, baby, take me to your sea
Purify my soul and pour your ocean over me
Lead me to your chamber, where you sleep at night
Scratch my name across my back, make me feel alright

I have never felt this good before
If you want I'll sleep outside your door
You're the best time I have ever had
You look so good, oh babe, you must be bad

You must be bad

The eighties were such a pile of shit for music. Even a talent like Page couldn't escape the utter crassness and crapness that directed the flow of music in that decade

  2. a.... d....

Awesome.. thanks Mr Coverdale & Mr Page

  3. D.... C....

    Cover-Page!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂

    D.... C....

Dyoweeh Castle Yes Plant covered many songs.

  4. D.... G....

    What a Duo !!! Hats Off !!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Cheers and Life On !!!

  5. F.... ....

Coverdale absolutely had "it". Killer growl, soulful, stage presence, the songwriting was killer (for the most part). It's beyond depressing that we'll never see this music, writing, performing again. Because the culture that bred it is not only gone, but thoroughly resented by the filth that knows they could never rise to that level of standard. So....they got rid of the standard altogether. That's the American way now...

  6. T.... ....

Zeppelin aside, These two fellas work very good along side of each other.

  7. S.... 4....

Ffs Coverdale is nothing like plant why would he want to be , I was at donnington let me effing here. Ya and I was quite far away. Listen to come taste the band northwinds etc an d if ya still think they sound a like then take your head outta year arse

  8. S.... 4....

Cannot compare them I am a fan of both and both are very different

  9. D.... L....

All killer no filler , great album.

    MAMMA MIA.........NO WORDS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💓💓💞💞💞💞💞💞💞

  11. R.... R....

    wowwww lets rock.. .. .

  12. J.... L....

Still love the energy in this song in 2019! I hope they can find the master tapes and release some outtakes / unreleased songs.

  13. l.... ....

Damn, he might as well have said "Does anybody remember laughter?" during the song since he mimics everything else about the man.

  14. B.... G....

    White Zeppelin-----.

  15. A.... W....

If you weren't paying attention you could easily think this was a Zep reunion song.

  16. M.... N....

Oh man. Imagine if Coverdale someone convinced Page to join Whitesnake with Paice and Lord back in 1980

  17. r.... ....

O remember I preferred to listen this much more than guns and roses.

  18. R.... ....

In an alternate universe, this song is on Led Zeppelin Eleven

  19. c.... ....

    White Purple Led

  20. D.... D....

    Killer Video.

  21. R.... C....

one of the best plant impersonations ever. Not 1993 plant, 1970 plant.

  22. H.... L....

    2019 still Awesome❤️✌️💋

  23. P.... B....

The drummer is imitating Bonham even more than the singer is imitating Plant!

  24. A.... A....

    Убойная песня!

  25. A.... A....

Песня обалденная и двух мнений быть не может!

  26. L.... M....

A brilliant song from two brilliant artists on a brilliant album (ie brilliant 😂)

  27. l.... ....

This is as Zep you will get post Led Zep era. A stunning album that was for some reason hidden away from the airwaves.

  28. s.... ....

    AWESOMENESS

  29. L.... S....

At this point, Coverdale still had his full range, while Plant no longer did, and the truth is that Coverdale was never a clone of Plant - merely peers - and Coverdale's range was always wider and warmer.

Yeah yeah, let fly the arrows of slavish fanboy ass-kissery all you wish, I LOVE Zep, but Coverdale always had more voice.

Wish he still did, but both he and Plant are now shadows of their former selves.

    L.... S....

    Erm, not really.
The "truth" is that Plant is running circles around Coverdale for the last 30 years both musically and vocally.

And here Coverdale is clearly imitating Plant not only vocally but also visually (he dyed his hair blond among other things). This is BTW to his own detriment: his voice had far more power, expression and range during his Deep Purple tenure where didn't have to imitate anybody. And nowadays, his voice (and surgery laden face) is completely shot anyway while Plant can still be a riveting artist in his concerts.

  30. S.... F....

I remember when this came out when I was in high school...loved it then...love it now!!! Great album!!! Kool song!!!

  31. S.... C....

Sounds like a Joe Perry riff

  32. C.... A....

Coverdale trying to be Plant. But not bad.

  33. A.... A....

    УБОЙНО!

  34. W.... D....

    True Musicians

  35. M.... F....

    Q jartura

  36. R.... T....

    Ledsnake

  37. h.... d....

Too many people youre custard pie!

  38. A.... A....

    Best!!!

  39. c.... ....

Coverdale's dream finally came true. He could finally act and "sing" like Robert Plant.

    c.... ....

He sings much deeper than Plant.

  40. K.... L....

At the time Plant refused to give us more Zepplin, so Page went this route and I along many others ate it up. I just wish they had released more albums.

    K.... L....

I used to WEAR THIS ALBUM OUT!

  41. A.... A....

    Убойная песня!!!

  42. R.... P....

Jimmy Page & Plant. Ops Coverdale.

  43. E.... E....

IT'S TRAGIC THAT HE LOST HIS VOICE ,HE WAS ONE OF THE BEST DEPRESSING.

    E.... E....

    he still sings

  44. T.... C....

This what Zeppelin would have sounded like If Bonham vener died.

  45. s.... ....

    Those drums sound fucking awful

  46. B.... D....

this was ok but boy was page a dickhead to do this to plant

  47. Y.... M....

Back when I was jealous over Coverdale hair! In the 80s & big hair Mine never turned out either too curly or a hat. :)

  48. m.... w....

When I was living in the '90's I did not realize how good the music really was.

  49. P.... D....

One can really hear Jimmy Page sensibilities all over this. The harmonic changes etc.

  50. J.... G....

    David is sexy as hell

  51. A.... F....

Yeah, yeah, it does sound like Zeppelin---that is a good thing. Coverdale can do heavy blues (e.g., Mistreated ), and Plant could hear, "Shit I am replaceable!"

  52. S.... ....

I cannot believe this was 25 years ago.

  53. b.... ....

He was definitely rocking that androgeny. The mouse-ed hair, eye liner, switching hips. He looked better thsn Caitlin Jenner

  54. R.... K....

Jimmy is brilliant! Look at the sound board playing itself, kind of ass backwards. IOW, Jimmy pre recorded all of this music and all others on this vidio are limp syncers, aka, mimmers. Brilliant stuff! I think Jimmy got the message across.

  55. A.... ....

    This is a killer song.

  56. J.... C....

This was scorned when it came out, but I thought it was very good

  57. P.... S....

No this doesn't sound Zeppelin like at all... 😉

    P.... S....

No it doesn't feature Jimmy Page on guitar at all. I'll take this album over any Led Zep album any day.

    P.... S....

    It wasn t supposed to

  58. n.... ....

They are revisiting this album this year reissues with demos and alternate songs should of kept it going best stuff page did since he basically retired from music so far other than page/plant stuff

  59. C.... I....

Women Aren't Worth The Time..... They take away what a man wants! They add drama that doesn't need to be! Lsten to their words of wisdom in the song. Don't be a fool and give women what you desire.

  60. R.... W....

    forgot about this incredible jam

  61. T.... B....

Since plant won't tour with zepplin get Cloverdale he is awsome.

    T.... B....

Coverdale has unfortunately lost his voice. Very sad. Fuck old age.

    T.... B....

    Was....

  62. D.... C....

OMG OMG OMG, no way no fucking way, I just pissed and shit myself 5 trillion times, I'm literally shaking in excitement this is amazing

  63. .... ....

    Great!!!

  64. I.... N....

    Wooooooooooo!!!!!!

  65. F.... J....

Coverdale And Page In RnR I Really Couldn't Ask More Or Say A Single word Only To Appreciate And Say Thank You Very Much For The Beatiful #LongLiveRockNRoll

  66. M.... G....

The get an A for trying.

  67. M.... P....

This release DEFINITELY stands on it's own! If you want your LedZep
    fix listen to this;
"Kingdom Come - Get It On"
    WIDESCREEN 720p
    https://youtu.be/UNSmYWfIKuA

  68. C.... ....

    Great collaboration! Wonderful stuff!

  69. M.... J....

could have been a Led Zeppelin song if Plant could get out of Nashville

  70. K.... B....

Could David Coverdale be any sexier??? 🤤🤤🤤

    K.... B....

сексуальнее и прекрасней Дэвида нет никого

  71. D.... C....

ENOUGH TO COMPARE PLANT AND COVERDALE ARE DIFFERENT BUT WHAT FAILURE HERE ARE THE ISSUES ARE POORS

  72. D.... C....

NO GOOD RESULTS COME ALWAYS TO GET TWO FAMOUS

  73. C.... ....

When Page was straight, BEST EVER, no question!

    C.... ....

He had really great moments in the Firm live in 85, then it went away on the 86 tour. He was on fire on the 88 Outrider tour, then completely dropped off until this. He was back in 95 & 98 P & P tours. so can't say this is his best but he is kicking ass here.

  74. T.... B....

Of course there is led zepplin influence. David Cloverdale is awesome. With page doing his thing it awsome!

  75. J.... A....

shit hes way better live then plant.

  76. N.... G....

    David Coverversion?

  77. C.... A....

Sounds like Zeppelin. But sounds like a B side.

    C.... A....

Chris Arnold All Zep stuff is B side of LZ 4 and PG.

  78. K.... G....

Say what you want artistically about DC, but he’s first singer post Zep get JP’s mojo flowing again 👍🤔

    K.... G....

Well, it is one way to put it...

    K.... G....

Tawny Kitaen got Davids mojo flowing

    K.... G....

@Corey Ratliff What? Plant had a huge solo career.

    K.... G....

    Agreed!

    K.... G....

@Mr Neal they were divorced by now weren't they?

  79. m.... ....

so powerful , Coverdale didn't copy Plant , it was the song which made him sing like this ,Led Zep definitely !

  80. M.... A....

Isso era Rock in roll não essas merdas de hoje em dia

    M.... A....

    Cai fora serio

  81. S.... ....

At 2:10 or just after I can hear some "Nobody's Fault"...

    S.... ....

Great catch. I hadn't directly noticed it. Very Zeppelin like from that pt to 2:36 . Funny indirectly I thought this had a "Zep" feel , now you've given me the direct connection. Ironic is DC isn't singing in that part. so it's really Jimmy who's driving the Zep connect,, for all the talk of DC being a Plant copy. not that DC doesn't have a certain RP similarity to him

  82. S.... ....

all of you saying he isn't trying to sound like Plant are just plain crazy. Page wanted Plant to make a new album with him and Plant didn't want to at the time. Page knew Coverdale could do Plant pretty damn well and decided to make an album with him. It worked as well because not long after Page and Plant started jamming.

    S.... ....

*Plant* had a higher voice and after 1971 didn't have the power he had on the first three *Zeppelin* albums. *Coverdale* has his own voice, full of power and he can sing softer songs beautifully. To say that he was trying copy or sound like *Plant* is just horseshit.

The reason *Coverdale/Page* didn't go further was *Jimmy's* manager, who, after their album was released, didn't say a single word to *Jimmy* about a US tour. Their album was a huge success and several of their songs were everywhere. Had they toured the States in say April of 1993, we probably would have seen a *Coverdale/Page II* because they wrote some 60 songs together and *Page* was never better post *Zeppelin* .

    S.... ....

But Coverdale is not trying to imitate him, David Coverdale is as is. Take a look at Whitesnake´s 1987 álbum and hear it.

    S.... ....

    this post is truth

    S.... ....

You don't know if Page wanted Plant, in less he told you.

    S.... ....

If I can recall Page was trying to do something with Plant but Plant didn't want to, still doing his solo stuff. So Page sought out Coverdale. And it rocked and had they taken it stateside probably would have been huge. "suddenly" Robert was calling Jimmy and UnLedded happened....hmmmm. just a coincidence?....not likely....Robert may be better and more respected than David, but even I as a big Plant fan, must say, he was worried that this pairing was going to clearly out do his current solo career. Poor David, wasn't given a USA tour, so we can only guess what might have been. Both awesome singers, never put down David, he's got chops, and Robert's a legend. this rocks btw

  83. A.... R....

have this on cassette somewhere I may dig it out it's pretty good

    A.... R....

    Well, did you find it?

  84. s.... ....

The first time I heard this I was in my car listening to some classic rock station. They didn't say who it was, and I honestly thought they were playing some unreleased Zeppelin. Don't take that as a knock on this song. I think it fucking rocks!

    s.... ....

There's a rather big difference between David and Robert

    s.... ....

@Oskaar the music is Zep all the way...but yeah, Coverdale separates himself from Plant in Most areas. Similar though

    s.... ....

@Law Dawg Fair enough, maybe I'm biased 'cos the Coverdale-Page album was one of my favourites early ningthies, and still now I enjoy listening it... Think many riffs were refreshing, even now

  85. M.... T....

David Coverdale has a great Rock Voice/and NO he's not copying Robert Plant!!!

    M.... T....

He didn't sound like that in DP, and just watch him

    M.... T....

@StevieRay You seem to think that typing certain words in CAPITALS emphasises your point and makes your statement truthful. It doesn't.

    M.... T....

@Hunter Campbell Because DP's songs were generally in a lower key. Zepp's songs were centered around Plant's high pitched roars. Cloverfield's obviously always had this in him. It doesn't just come magically when you choose to mock a difficult to reach musician's vocal scale and strength.

    M.... T....

Exactly...it spins around Page...and they would have continued the magic.

    M.... T....

Everyone in rock who could copy Plant, copied Plant, he invented that kind of heavy rock vocals back in 1968 before everyone else. Its not a criticism of Coverdale. Coverdale indeed has an amazing voice but his chops are all copied from Roberts, and who can fucking blame him ? Only a fucking ignorant prick doesn't give Robert Plant the credit for inventing that style of singing, which is basically a white guys version of the kind of singing little Richard was laying down in the 50's and to some degree people like Otis Redding in the 60's.

  86. M.... H....

Only 40k views? Are you shitting me??

  87. B.... G....

An awesome song from an awesome album. I wish they had done more together.

    B.... G....

The album is awesome!!! The voice and the gitar....the world is great.

    B.... G....

Agreed. This song is what I imagined Led Zeppelin would have evolved into had Bonham not died and they not broke up.

  88. M.... N....

    DEEP ZEPPELIN

    M.... N....

    MELOMANO NICO white zeppelin

    M.... N....

cover dale is better than plant!stronger vocals

    M.... N....

@mark henson true...but plant lost his vocal power in 1976..he couldnt scream anymore..Coverdale tries to emulate Plant..and does a Awesome job..Llisten to Houses of Holy compaered to Led Zep 1 ...no comparison...voice is gone..

    M.... N....

    zeppelinsnake

    M.... N....

    ZEPSNAKE.

  89. j.... s....

    AWESOME SONG!!

  90. S.... M....

when I first had this cassette back in 93, I played it so much I wound up wearing out the tape

    S.... M....

Steve Mandl haha.me too.i played the hell outta my cassette!

    S.... M....

I still have my tape; obviously haven't played it enough.

    S.... M....

    Millennials say: "What's a casette?"

  91. z.... 7....

After decades without the zep's, I swallowed this raw! Yum!

  92. L.... P....

    still got the vinyl

  93. E.... R....

I'm sorry but I don't see how is DC copying Plant in any of the songs on this album, there is obvious influence of Zeppelin since Page is the guitarist and composer but saying that DC copied Plant or imitate him is plain ignorance, and for the record I'm a huge fan of Robert Plant as well

    E.... R....

Eduardo Ravelo actually I think DC is copying Steve Marriott. That’s sarcasm folks. If you don’t know who he is you will see exactly where Plant stold his vocal style. Fact is DC and plant are almost the same age and they both stold from early blues artists and bands like the Who and the Kinks.

    E.... R....

@Mean Mister Mustard He's even copying plants movements and facial expressions. I can't watch this without laughing.

    E.... R....

@Silenced Heart I think Robert Plant imitated Roger Daltrey looks wise so to complain that Coverdale is copying him is just bullshit.

    E.... R....

@Mean Mister Mustard -- Pointless arguing with the under-30s. Let's keep our precious memories and knowledge to ourselves....

    E.... R....

@The Truth Hurts I guess you could mention Yardbirds too, who Zeppelin formed from the ashes of.

  94. V.... c....

  95. E.... S....

    Coverdale imitando a Plant

    E.... S....

Ni de puta coña, son voces distintas, la de Plant es más aguda

  96. E.... S....

    Coverdale imitando a Plant

    E.... S....

    Edu Solano no

  97. F.... S....

  98. A.... P....

Dave decide Page that he is Plant for sing with him if i can i do so too .

  99. M.... J....

Wow he really sounds like Robert Plant here O.o moves like him too. I wonder if that was intentional, like a little nod. Either way, Rob must've heard this and went:" Fuck, he does me better than i do" xD Incredible how Dave maintained that crazy vocal power while Rob just lost it all. Not surprised they're not exactly best of friends.

    M.... J....
