This song has a particular impact on me. Have always been sad and always wanted to be dead. Breaks my heart listening to this song

1:15 reminds me of the days me and my girlfriend traveled all over the Northeast and then way out west on the prairies where one finds a sort of beautiful solitude on those treeless plains but it can and did fill us with a sort of sadness and emptiness too. Oh well, so much for dreaming. Many dreams died in those years for both of us. When my girlfriend actually died at the end of 2006 in Wyoming, that was when all my hopes and dreams of having a family and a better life came to a close. I then return to NC alone, sad, penniless, and distraught. NC had a way of pulling me back and holding me back and I always vowed that one day I would return to my 'place on the prairies' that I loved and that held such good memories of my girlfriend and our time together in those magical places even though it was short with her. RIP Michelle. I owe you a pilgrimage back to those old memory spots.

What a beautiful eulogy for her. I too travelled with someone I loved. But he died long after we were apart. The poignancy for you is the dream stopped while you were still trying to find your way through. Peace with you.

Thanks EBlockWitch. I feel so sad for you. We miss them but they will (ALWAYS) remain in our hearts. Those are lifelong memories (and good ones too) and you'll never forget the good times and the hopes and dreams you shared with him I'm sure. The west has a bittersweet attachment to me these days. Even though those old roads we travelled are far behind and have faded from my memories, I'm still determined to get back out there someday, somehow, whether it's for good or just for a short time. I feel in my gut, I was meant to 'put down roots' somewhere out there. I haven't done much research on this but I've been told I'm related to Teddy Roosevelt and he and his 'Rough Riders' traveled across these prairies by horseback through places like Montana and Wyoming. I'm sure, maybe even the same areas me and my girlfriend traveled through. I also have some Plains Indian ancestry in me so I either get this being drawn to the prairies from my native American ancestry and/or through my ancestry with Teddy Roosevelt (possibly). It's like a kind of a 'coming home' and I feel lost and hopeless but wishing and dreaming that someday, I'll be able to return to my 'home' out there. Thanks for your kind comments and may you (also) find what you're looking for and Peace be with you as well.....

It's a totally selfless emotion and people who truly suffer from it want to be left alone and often reject help from family and friends. It's just the few immature you claim to be depressed but instead are attention-seeking that you are referring to. Think before you generalise.
