Counterparts - To The Grave Lyrics

Struggling to remain rooted in the depths of positivity, while modern day eats away at the foundation around me. And nothing that I do or say seems to rid me of this cynicism. This isn't how I hoped I'd ever feel, and I will not allow myself to become the advocate for everything that I stand against. And I will not be consumed by pessimism. I will choose to live, rather than "exist." And while the weight of the world pins me down, I know that humanity is something worth fighting for. Even though we must acknowledge our flaws and those of the world around us, we cannot allow them to control what's ours. We control our own destiny, from this day and on and to the grave. I will not turn my back on the problems I will face. I will embrace and overcome, and use them to create a better future. Living day to day is a gift I refuse to squander away. We control our own destiny.

  13. N.... N....

It seems like these guys stray from the path of traditional hardcore, but when it comes to writing, they always stick to their guns. Hehe bad puns

  14. j.... d....

I'm so glad they played this live!

  19. w.... ....

that feeling when something inside is just overfilled with emotions and burns, leaving you despaired and inspired at the same time.

  20. A.... B....

I WILL CHOOSE TO LIVE RATHER THAN EXIST!

  21. W.... ....

    omgee. still speechless....

  22. c.... C....

not very well promoted EP Amazing though. This and john fucking locke are my fav songs by them

  23. N.... B....

I think it's mostly progressive metal but they have a few normal hardcore bands like stray from the path and stick to your guns

  24. J.... S....

Why am I just discovering this Counterparts song now?

  25. N.... B....

ya everything they do is fucking amazing

  26. J.... B....

I saw them live with Volumes and a couple of shitty bands back about a year ago and they were amazing, don't remember them playing this though and when I had saw them I really didn't know much about who they were but they put on a great show. Now that I think about it, fuck whatever we think is the best. Counterparts just fucking rules and that's all that matters, everything they've written is golden.

  27. N.... B....

really? cool I love them both but personally I prefer The current will carry us I much prefer the guitar tone I think they got quite a bit more creative with the riff writing, and also the drums sound weird to me on profits and this ep. They sound much more natural on the new album but I fucking love this song! I saw them 2 nights ago and wasn't expecting to hear this song but they played it and it was amazing

  28. J.... B....

I agree that they sound a lot different.. but I think Prophets is better overall as an album... not one song off either except MAYBE Digression really beats this song for me though.

  29. T.... G....

I think prophets is a lot different from TCWCU. I love both so much, but I honestly think this ep is the best music they've put out, instrumentally wise anyways. It's a perfect mix of breakdowns and technical stuff.

  30. N.... B....

I thought TCWCU was soooo much different than Prophets, much better in my opinion I'm surprised that you think they sounded the same

  31. D.... ....

    NEW COUNTERPARTS

  32. h.... ....

Anyone know where to find a download of this song?

  33. C.... B....

what is that part at the beginning? the version of the song I have always starts right at 0:07

  34. S.... ....

@ReprogrammedToHate Same, except I really don't think its different enough from Prophets to be that much better. Def one of the best released of 2011 tho

  35. R.... ....

@SilversteinRescue Agreed, i even consider that album one of my favorites of 2011 & way way way better than prophets.

  36. S.... ....

@jthemagicdragon i really dont see why people act like TCWCU is any different from their old shit. its ever so slightly different from Prophets and this sounds like typical Counterparts too. They change it up a little but not a whole ton. Love the new album just as much as Prophets.

  37. f.... g....

i thought 'the current will carry us' was gonna be like this /: i mean, it's good. but still. this and john locke are by far the best counterparts songs imo.

  38. c.... ....

@ReprogrammedToHate More preferably Mediaskare..Sumerian's all about dubshit now

  39. N.... A....

does anyone else get reminded of textbook tragedy? not saying they sound the same.

  73. R.... ....

  99. c.... ....

Okay, I thought John Locke was the best song until I saw this! These guys are huge in the scene around Baltimore, MD. I thought Prophets was amazing and then I was thinking the jams might slide off. WRONG! These two tracks I've heard are fantastic! I love this band! I have a feeling they are getting ready to blow the fuck up! If not it will be a tragedy. The lyrics always leave an impact and the music is fucking excellent! I wish the best to this band, and i'd drive 5 states to watch them play!

  100. S.... F....

Saw theses guys so many times seeing as I live in Oakville and there in Burlington. Soo sick. Stoked to see em open for silverstein, tdwp, and for today.
