Coral, The - Skeleton Key Lyrics

Sail lightly, on winds
Disappear on, the breeze
Lie firmly, on pins
Pull them out, with ease

Solid boned skeleton key
Opens the most, intricate lock
Brother roll, another for me
I am shipwrecked on the rocks

Fumble blindly as we speak
You will wither if you are weak
Finger turns and points at me
I'd hoped they wouldn't notice me

Solid boned, skeleton key
Opens the most, intricate lock
Brother roll another for me
I am shipwrecked on the rocks

[whispered]
Skeleton
Skeleton yeh
Skeleton

Will I ever, return?
Will I ever, get back?
Are the rocks, too high?
Has the dust, turned black?

Will I ever, return?
Will I ever, get back?
Are the rocks, too high?
Has the dust, turned black?

[whispered]
Skeleton Key
Skeleton Key
Skeleton Key
Skeleton Key

Will I ever, return?
Will I ever, get back?
Are the rocks, too high?
Has the dust, turned black?

Will I ever, return?
Will I ever, get back?
Are the rocks, too high?
Has the dust, turned black?

Solid boned, skeleton key
Opens the most intricate lock
Brother roll another for me
I am shipwrecked on the rocks

Oh yeah
Hey
That's more like
Here we go here we go
Here we go go Byker Grove
Can't believe it's so good
Can't believe it's so good

if anyone knows the chords that lee is playing here could you please tell me

  2. L.... N....

    I had forgotten.

  3. s.... l....

This was awesome at the time because so many bands were emulating Radiohead and Oasis still - that all seemed to have passed The Coral by and they just created their own sound. Seriously think they were THE best band of the early noughties.

    s.... l....

I loved their debut but I don't think their subsequent stuff was half as creative.

  4. S.... P....

    1AM on Kerrang, thank you

  6. Y.... M....

  7. M.... 0....

Just realised the opening bars sound a bit like ‘any old iron’, didn’t think it could get any better tbh.

  8. C.... V....

It's mad seeing the Leasowe Lighthouse in a music video

  9. N.... S....

Remember John Peel playing Shadow's Fall then hearing this on MTV|2 or somewhere and didn't make the connection that it was the same band for a while. Great band.

  10. C.... H....

    captain beefheart is here

  11. S.... I....

I remember seeing this video on MTV after the pub about 4 in the morning in early 2000s and thinking this song was a game changer, so bizarre and original.

    G.... B....

The Coral and Captain Beefheart & the magic band are my 2 all time favourite bands

    G.... B....

They went on record as saying they Beefheart was a BIG influence at the time.
    Nothing fucking wrong with that.

    G.... B....

This band reminds me of the LA's...both bands were from the Liverpool area

Saw these live just before the first album was released and their live sound was awesome, then i bought their first album and was so disappointed not with the songs but with the production, the energy and feeling of their songs just didn't come through at all...best watched and listened to live.

  25. O.... ....

@petervenkmann It's the Leasowe lighthouse in Wirral.

  26. s.... ....

@thespecialk1690 Completely agree mate, love both Gogol Bordello and The Coral with a passion. Haven't seen either live, but heard they're awesome. If I ever get the chance, I'll take it for sure.
