Cooper, Alice - Long Way To Go Lyrics

We still got a long way to go we still got a long way to go we all got a long way to go
What's keeping us apart isn't selfishness what's holding us together isn't love
Listen to the man who's been touched all his life yes he's the one they call the fool
Where is that saviour of the sidewalk life and the road that takes us to the crusades
I've seen those shadows as they're moving in my sleep leading the blind poet to his grave
'cause we still got a long way to go we still got a long way to go yes we all got a long way to go
Please don't waste your energy on me my friend 'cause we still got a long way to go
We'll meet again some day but right now just go away 'cause I still got a long way to go
The silence is speaking so why am I weeping I guess I love it I love it to death
Yes we still got a long way to go yes we still got a long way to go yes we all got a long way to go

Cooper, Alice Long Way To Go Comments
  1. E.... &....

Ar ddyn, yn ei ddelw ei hun a wnaed, Faint wnaeth Duw bestow? Y gwrogaeth creu cyfan a dalwyd, Ac yn berchen iddo ef Arglwydd, isod! Fe'i dweles yng ngardd Eden, a storiwyd Gyda melysion ar gyfer pob ystyr; Ac yno gyda'i Arglwydd disgynnol Cerddodd yn gyfrinachol. Ond O! gan bechod pa mor gyflym newid! Fforffedu ei anrhydedd, Ei galon, o Dduw a gwirionedd, estron, Roedd ei gydwybod yn llawn arswyd! Yn awr o lais ei wneuthur Mae'n ffoi, A oedd cyn ei lawenydd: Ac yn meddwl cuddio, yn ddifiif y coed, O lygad all-weld. Gorfodi i ateb i'w enw, Ag ystyfnigrwydd a balchder Fe fwriodd, ar Dduw ei hun, y bai, Nac unwaith am drugaredd crio. Ond gras, nas gofynnwyd, a'i galon A'i holl euogrwydd yn maddeu; Trwy ffydd, yr had addawedig a welodd, Ac yn teimlo ei fod yn powt i gynilo. Felly byddwn ni ein hunain yn cyfiawnhau, Er ein bod ni'r gyfraith yn dragywyddol; Fel yntau, yn methu gwadu, Yn amharod i gyfaddef. Ond pan trwy ffydd Mae'r pechadur yn gweld Bardwn A brynwyd â gwaed; Yna efe a faddeuodd ei bleserau ffôl, Ac yn llawen droi at Dduw. Newton, John. Emynau.

We used to listen to this song when stereo sound first came on the market. In the 70's. This album was a huge underground hit. Bigger than anything anyone today could imagine. This band was huge in some circles. We use to do mushrooms and play this full blast and head band before mosh pits. Fuckin great

I always wondered why this song didn't get more attention, it is a rocker! Our bar band used to play it in the early 2000's and most people thought it was a kickin original and never danced to it. But occasionally we would get that one guy who would sit up and take notice and compliment us for playing a deep Cooper cut. Made it all worth it. This song, in my opinion, is one of the Coop's best tunes. another song in the same kind of setting is Loony tune from School's out. & You drive me nervous on Killer and Big Apple dreamin' from Muscle of love. none of them got the attention they deserved.

    G.... J....

Fields of Regret and Beautiful Flyaway. The first two "lost albums" were the most underrated of all.

    G.... J....

Cause we still got a long way to go ! I had this album in 1971 when I was 16. Wow, what memories this is stirring up !

    G.... J....

On an album full of good tunes. Had this on vinyl and listened to it with black lights on

  49. W.... &....

    Great band!

  50. S.... O....

Thanks too the pretty-spanish-chick . Who showed me how to scip commercials on I-57 be.

  52. B.... E....

Saw them at Sherwood Forest in Michigan early on. Before they made it big. Great band and sound. Still love it to death... B..

    B.... E....

    How lucky were you.

  53. P.... B....

Not the first "offending thumb" to be airbrushed out of an album (the 5 Keys) - dopiness prevails!

  54. S.... ....

Alice has "been touched all his life"...and I've been grateful.

  55. j.... ....

Thanks for posting this tune :-))

  56. K.... F....

This band had a kick ass bass player back then. Anyone know who he was maybe have the old Album that shows the bands names and credits? i think he was Korean maybe? He just nails it to the wall and hard.

    K.... F....

    Dennis Dunayay? I think

    K.... F....

    Dennis Dunaway

    K.... F....

Still pays... in a band named Blue Coupe with the guys from the original Blue Oyster Cult

    K.... F....

    hahahaa! Dunaway is a badass!

    K.... F....

When you say Korean, I think you must have Tetsu Yamachi from Free and the Faces in mind.

  57. 4.... 3....

    that guitar player is something

    4.... 3....

They *both* are! Michael Bruce (playing rhythm here; he's great on lead also) just rocks it always, and Glen Buxton on lead had a style all his own - they both are so distinctive.

Come on all you beg strong people, still able to hear, and produce, --- music and it's words are intended for our heads to get high to, not dope. I started - Just Say No - back when I heard music @ 12 years old, not my parents music, ( their music still brings back good memories ). But it now is a long way from the 60's. It Is 2017 and my ears heart most of the time when music is on the radio, Is every new artist incapable to have the drive to come up with some epic hits or should the oldies be good enough. Does anyone have the riffs to make me want to hear your music? Anyone out there still practice, practice, practice, ---- put down the twittle and pick up the fiddle. No nursery rhymes or choir music, PLEASE! --- just good old modern music. --- I did not learn the guitar, piano, or saxophone enough - ever - to go forth in this creativity of the arts. MY STATEMENT HAS BEEN TWEAKED. Any comments to this?
