Coolidge, Rita - My Crew Lyrics
Can I sing a song for you?
My crew
Like the song I used to play
With you
I didn't even know I was a gypsy
I'm singing this song because my eyes are misty
Because we're through
(We're through, we're through)
My crew
There's that cross we'll cross again
My friends
And the song that we will play
Will have no end
We'll sail a sea of song like a band of gypsies
We'll lay our burdens down and play for free
Laugh and cry as eagles die
And we'll be coming home one day
Let the music play
We'll sail a sea of song like a band of gypsies
We'll lay our burdens down and play for free
Laugh and cry as eagles die
And we'll be coming home one day
(One day, one day)
Let the music play
Uhumuhum, my crew
Uhumuhum, uhumhum, uhumuhum
Uhumuhum, my crew

This song is a beautiful classic
Theres a lump in my throat everytime I listen to this song. I just want to go back to my childhood and relive all these memories I have of my parents dancing to this song :(
What? Only 248 grand...? A most beautiful song!
My husband brought me here. It was his late mother's favourite song.
Wado Walela♥️
懐かしくて、ノスタルジックで淡い気持ちになり苦しくなる。
良い曲だなぁ。
Kris K was a total idiot stick for cheating on Rita.
1970 Motown NZ-Dedicating this beautiful song to my cousin Barry Downs. Rip cuzzy you introduced music to my heart and soul when you’d sing this to me in your room, both of us just turning 15 and you jamming on your gat!! You were beautiful then till the day you left to jam with the best of them in musical heaven♥️ Say hello to Jimi, Rip till we meet again 🙏🏾1956-2018♥️
2019 May still listening to this song and it's one of my favourite 🔥🔥😍

My old song from my time 1969. This Lady is a beautiful soul. Keeping me young and memories that was the greatest time in my life. Freedom, Peace and Love. )O(
💮🌹💗
Love all your music but your version of amazing Grace is the best I've ever heard. My great great great grandma was corn blossom daughter of double head
Memories of "sweet harmony"by Smoky Robinson.Same theme and message.A classic song of separation, friendship and reuniting.!!!
Paths that cross will cross again, very true for this 65 year old
Her Best Album
Her voice never ceases to amaze me.
Beautyfull voice like an angel's voice
I LOVE this song!
It takes me way back growing up in Dennilton South Africa
My father taught me this
"KNX-FM, where the music is''
makes me feel tired like im going to sleep and die
Another huge favorite of mine, "My Crew" is right up there with "Bird On A Wire". It's soulful and her voice is so sultry and heartfelt. It's awesome! Will always be a favorite of mine!
I love this song
I used to have this album on vinyl and loved it. It was one of my best friends collection that he entrusted me to hold for him. He died a few years after that back in 1981. I let it go when I sold all my vinyl at a garage sell when I was moving and didn't have any way to play vinyl anymore anyway. Always have regretted that since then.
Name me another singer who can sing just like that? WOW!
How in the world can this so awesome song really have thirty two dislikes? ...That definitely means that thirty two people have absolutely no taste in music whatsoever, or they didn't actually listen.... I kinda feel sorry for them, ha. One of the few songs ever that gives kudos, and thanks to the actual tech support, and roadies of a band, and tour, an attempt that obviously was lost on that contingency...
Lol...totally agreed
One of my all time favorite songs. Added it to several mix tapes.
I want my young generation to To Live up to these music c when I'm gone
GOOD MUSIC NEVER DIE!!!MAMA RITA COOLIDGE KEEP IT UP.I LOVE YOUR MUSIC IJOOOO.THIS MUSIC SPIN BACK THE WINGS OF TIME AND BRINGS BACK THOSE GOOD OLD MEMORIES.THE DELTA LADY I LIKE THIS SONG YOU KNOW.THE LADY IS NOT FOR SALE.IJOO
Thanks for posting and advice 🎶
You're welcome. 😊🎸
The album The Lady's not for Sale is available on CD from $101!! Does anyone on earth own a CD which I could 'share' or purchase? I loved it back in the day.
@Val Gleave - That's terrible! But it's probably because all copies have been sold. I was doing a search for downloadable files and I found this: http://mp3pn.biz/artist/9328237/Rita_Coolidge_The_Lady_S_Not_For_Sale_1972/
You have to download each track individually. Press the arrow on each song... you will see a new page with a blue button that says 'Download.' Seems to work fine! :)
You are very kind to send this. Unfortunately it says 'site not available in your country' (I am in the UK).
I also loved an album called The Statler Brothers Sing Country Symphonies in E Major, also only on vinyl. The tracks are available on itunes music usa - I can't buy from the UK! I guess I shouldn't be so nostalgic!! Many thanks again for taking the time to write to me. Val.
PS - some of the tracks of both the Rita Coolidge and Statler Brothers I can get from Youtube! Very few though.
I'm so sorry you weren't able to access it. These copyright laws are ridiculous, especially for music that is decades old, and unavailable anywhere else! The Rita Coolidge cd that was available here in the US was a 3 LP import combo, 'Lady's Not for Sale / Fall Into Spring / It's Only Love.' It sold for around $26, but that was 5 years ago. I had posted a couple other songs of hers that people requested, but then YT blocked them for copyright. If I were you, I would download any songs/videos you like SOON, in case they get blocked later on, which can happen here at any time. Thanks for watching, and hope you can find the songs you want!
Awesome song, awesome lady
Great song!
I LOVE this song, and have since the first time I heard it back when I bought "the Lady's Not for Sale" I think.
Black Croews
I rember listening to this from the family album many moons ago.
Love this song. I have the vinyl album but no turntable. The first time I heard this song I was blown away by The Band backing her. Could not be more perfect.
Its her sister Priscilla singing with her! I have the album, too and most of her others.
The Band was called The Dixie Flyers. They racked up a quite respectable resume of backing recordings in their day.
I am down and beaten, just using this beautiful music to try to gain my composure, life is for living not distress.A lot of this music brings tears to my eyes,so I am trying to gain my confidence. Its time for me to go where I should have stayed,in music.I gave it up when I got married in 1962.I should have stayed with it for my own good.I can truely feel what is embedded in music and the words.
Dave Maschmeier Prayin for ya brother
Dave Maschmeier, I'm 70 and learning to play bass guitar...used to play upright. It is so much fun getting back into playing music! Really positive energy.
I first heard this song as a six-year-old back in 1976. One of my all-time favorite songs. If memory serves me right, there was a video to this, long before the concept of music videos, obviously. Great track.
One of my favorite songs by Rita coolidge
Just perfection.
the melancholy in this song!
I miss her
Oooooh, oh how I love this song!
all time favorite
so pretty
Well, the title of the album is actually "The Lady's Not For Sale" But thanks for posting. These tracks are scarce. Guess I need to capture my vinyl.
+Barry Morse That's what happens when I'm in a hurry, lol. Thanks for the heads up, I've corrected it. And thanks for commenting! :)
yes I lost my album the lady's not for sale i it so bad bought it in 1971
Barry Morse yes
The Track is "My Crew" let's just split hairs
Martin Anguiano The track title was updated in response to my comment.
I wish this whole album were here, I used to have it but I don't anymore and it is not one that can be found on cd (for some reason). I have a double d greatest hits of hers-but "Whiskey Whiskey" is not on it.
@Danielle Bethune A cd format IS available, but only if you buy the '3 albums on 2 cds' deal on Amazon. A little pricey, but it got good reviews. You might save a couple dollars from a third-party seller listed there. http://www.amazon.com/Ladys-Sale-Fall-Into-Spring/dp/B0039208TY
@60s70sVintageRock Thank you
You can get it on CD but it's imported so its $$$. My favorite Album of Rita, Favorite song My Crew.
+Donna Turner I found the album in a music store and had the vinyl transferred to a CD. wasn't very expensive.
super x
Anybody that looks at this picture and says Ms Coolidge is not Native American dont know anything about American indians
Rita's father was full-blooded Cherokee, her mother was half Cherokee - half Scottish.
Uh yeah, totally Duh! She's my aunt so I do know but even if she wasn't it doesn't get much more obvious. People who say different are just ill Informed
Falta la canción: de Rita Coolidge - The closer you get, del año 1981, la puede subir por favor?
It's already posted: https://youtu.be/Slmwtm5RCS0 :)
El vídeo no esta disponible :-(
@Luadka Sometimes videos get blocked on mobile devices... or... it may be blocked to countries outside the U.S. because of copyright. Sorry, I would share, but I do not have this song. :(
Entiendo bien. Muchas gracias por la atención :-(
You must have heard this song, so I share it with you.
Goodnight my friends.

@Mabe Yushin Thank You!
Heather Hays ... 1970
Beautiful, serene very soothing to the soul!
A beautiful album. Peggy Lee would have loved her version of "Fever."
One of my favourite songs of all time.
Paths that cross will cross again
First time hearing this. Like it. Rita's voice is so soothing and beautiful.
Saw Rita last year in NH. Very enjoyable show. Years ago her and Kris. K. were very sensual together. Fun to go back in time with YT.
Dear Rita. You are a precious daughter of one of dearest friend I ever had , Charlotte Faye Coolidge
I love to hear you sing and spending time with you
Brings back memories, mostly good. Great to hear this again after so many years. Thanks for posting
On the charts years ago, still have the 45.
Minha musica preferida do 007, na voz de Deusa de Rita Coolidge...

One day, one day~, remembering of 70th, lots of Love Songs. My Crew is the best among them.
On this day in 1973 {June 29th} Rita Coolidge performed "My Crew" on the NBC-TV program 'The Midnight Special'...
It reached #38 on Billboard's Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...
The song was the B-side of her version of "Fever", which entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart on December 30th, 1972; and eventually it peaked at #76 and spent 7 weeks on the Top 100 chart...
Ms. Coolidge celebrated her 68th birthday almost two months ago on May 1st...
This is a great album. My favorite song is We Had It All.
old magic.
fabulous, sweet voice - been loving rita's voice 4 forty yrs
My Crew is one of my absolute faves xxx
Absolutely Aunt....this takes me back to a childhood I love dearly. xxxxx
This takes me back to Rotorua NZ, when it first came out, I loved my album then as I do now and its the best vinyl cover.
i play this no matter what kind of day i'm having since 73 never gets old. thank you very much.
Man, this takes me back to sitting in my uncle's bar and hearing this song for the first time.....ahhhh, the memories this song brings back! I have the vinyl album, but have seachred and searched for the CD and since seeing this post......know now it's not available unless in a combo set. Oh well.....love that I can play it on my IPhone stand. Thanks for posting this!!
@RosemarieBredahlMead There's a 3-album import cd still available on Amazon: 'Lady's Not for Sale / Fall Into Spring / It's Only Love' for about $26+shipping. Hope this helps :)
I haven't been able to find the song "The Lady is not for sale", or this C.D., any suggestions? -RosemarieBredahlMead
@christymichael Those two songs are from another album, Fall Into Spring. If I can get a hold of it, I'll post them and send them to you :) I think the other song is 'That's What Friends Are For'. There is a nice version here on YT by B.J. Thomas.
please upload LOVE HAS NO PRIDE ...and one that has the lines
Friends love your good sides live with your bad.. can't think of the song title
thanks sooooooooooo much
Amazing...
IF I HAD A BAD DAY,I'D COME HOME AND PUT HER ON THE STEREO.. HER VOICE WAS SO "HEALING" TO ME.STILL IS TODAY..
RITA WHERE EVER YOU ARE I LOVE YOU...
this is MUSIC. Rita has a voice and style that stays in your mind once you hear her songs. I doubt we will remember most of the artists of today after 30+ years, I found her Walela CD by linking on YouTube and Walela is beautiful native American music. She's a beautiful lady and her music stands in time.
EXCELLENT!! I'd totally forgotten about her over the years, as someone else said here, this is one of her best!! It does put me in a rather melancholy mood but hey it's a tune from my youth. Thanks for the posting :)
I can remember myself back in 1971, when I was a kid sitting in my backyard listening to this on my transistor and letting my mind just drift away.
sadly beautiful.
It is truly a pity, a shame, that music like this is not being played today. With the likes of Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce Knowles, and the ever popular Lady Gaga polluting the airwaves it is like a breath of fresh air to hear a singer who actually was able to sing ... and this was her very best.
The first three ladies you mentioned are actually very talented and great musical artists. You obviously don't know much about music!
This great song of the first Rita Coolidge album in 1972, since then I was really hooked with her fantastic voice!!!! One my most favoruite lady singers ever!!
@bze2nlz4 I continue to be mystified. This is the most beautiful of all of Rita Coolidge's tunes, and it STILL isn't available on CD! So beautiful and dreamy.
@jonisaacson Thanks for your comment! I did not typically listen to Rita's music, but there were a couple of her songs from the 70's that just 'stuck' in my memory! So beautiful :)
Ditto!! thanks so much! Many memories attached to this album, I played it till the groves had groves when I was a teenager. My Mom still has the album but it is sooooo worn out! Some of her very best music here and Fall Into Spring Album.
This is one of a dozen or so songs that are my soundtrack for memories of a world that seems to have pretty much disappeared. We were so hopeful then. I am looking at my vinyl album right now. Marc Benno, guitar; Mike Utley, keyboards; Carl Radle, bass; Jim Keltner, drums; Al Perkins Jr, rhythm guitar; Booker T. Jones, flute; Jerry McGee acoustic guitar; Priscilla Jones and Donna Weiss, backing vocals. It doesn't get much better than this. Thanks for posting it.
