Cooder, Ry - Somebody's Callin' My Name Lyrics
You better hush, hush, hush, hush
Somebody's calling my name
Hush somebody's calling my name
Hush, hush, hush, hush
Crying oh my Lord, oh my Lord
What shall I do
What shall I do
Than you can call for you mother
But your mother can't do you no good
Call on your mother
Your mother can't do you no good
Call for your mother
Crying oh my Lord, oh my Lord
What shall I do
What shall I do

I don't want to know. Guess we have to deal with it when it hits. Thx for stopping by & listening. I have TONS of Blues if you like. Sorted into genres on my Playlists. Thx for stopping by & listening, Moppet
@MyMoppet52 This movie changed my life, it's really what made me take guitar seriously, I was only 5 but it has always stuck with me even to this day and I'm 34, a very powerful scene in the film.

That's one of the strongest endorsements you can get, in my non professional opinion. More musicians is often the goal of the old timers. Thx for sharing.
Who's gonna get their head cut!?
When Willy is shaking his head before Steve stops playing is the same as Apollo Creeds face when he hits Drago's gloves and they don't move
What a great, great soundtrack. Ry Cooder in a wonderful, creative effort!
.
+Jay Ramsey yes...it is a very good soundtrack. I never get tired of listening. Thank you for taking the time to say "hello".
when i see the 5 thumbs down i no longer allow myself to wonder why. i just remember all seeds won't germinate and that there are all kinds that make up the world. just glad "I" ain't da one!
+Reginald Mcpherson Love your comment AND your attitude! Thank you, Moppet
p.s. I have most of the album up in a Playlist on my Channel called "Soundtracks" if you ever want to explore. I have a lot of Ry Cooder music in that Playlist.

Thank you. I've got some incredibly wonderful music that gets thumbs down. You gave me a smile, Moppet
✌😊 I hear ya, friend 💕
awesome
anyone know other music like this/albums etc?
@MyMoppet52 thanks a lot! will check out the long riders. i am somewhat familiar with ry cooder (his cuban musician collaborations).
hmm i was thinking,tho there must be groups that do traditional vocal gospel type harmonies like this. not so much looking for the christian songs though.
any ideas?
@Steezin_Hawkins
I will think about it. I've been having massive asthma problems for 3 weeks & not doing so well late at night. Let me look around & see what I have & what I KNOW of...the groups. I will get back to you. If I don't, please comment back to me in a day or two. Sometimes I get sidetracked...
The Long Riders won't have this type music, but it's a great score. Look up One Meatball & Jesus On The Mainline. When I put them on, they were the only ones of those versions on utube. Really OLD Ry Cooder.
Hey, I'm gonna go to send a link. Will be back in a minute with an 'edit' to this comment. There is a group I posted last week with great harmonies & not gospel. Just one song, but it's nice. From 1977. See you in a minute, moppet
This is just from the top of my head, but I'm sending it since it's not gospel. https://youtu.be/Y8xlV8AZCwI
I will do some checking. Is it male vocals only? Harmonies? Thax. Have a really nice music day tomorrow, Moppet
+Steezin_Hawkins Fairfield Four and Blind Boys of Alabama have some great music, but it's mostly gospel. I'm partial to Fairfield Four, but enjoy them both. Sweet Honey in The Rock is a great female group and here is a link to a group that has great vocals, but does have piano. https://youtu.be/TPA77O-18h4
+hospitalcleaner Might try earlier versions of this by the Golden Gate Quartet. Careful, you might catch the gospel bug.
@GayleMI
Thank you for your comment. I appreciate you helping out. Wishing you a good week, Moppet
Wow, does anyone know the name of the bass singer?
@Kim Lysebjerg Bing
You have given me my 'smile of the day" from comments. utube is messing with me also! Sometimes lately, I will make a reply...then it freezes & I have to do it all over. The translator will not let me remove my first "English" after I translate. I thought it was just me!!! I can see through the lines, and than you for your very kind comment. It's nice to meet you. My best to you, Moppet
Bass singer is Willie Green from Los Angeles, CA.
@James Carloss
Thank you for letting me know it is Willie Green. I will put that in my notes before the song. Appreciate you help, Moppet
@MyMoppet52 I concur it is indeed Willie Green Jr, he is featured singing in the same vocal line up in concert with Ry Cooder and David Lindley.
Willie Green Jr is the first guy I saw and heard sing base in the movie Crossroads and it inspired me to learn to sing base as well, purely as a hobby for my own enjoyment :)
@William Dines
thanks for your input & info! I had the info but it was below the line & ppl had to click "Show More". I added "bass" behind Willie Green, Jr. so now it can be seen easily. I appeciate your input. I spent an afternoon listening to people...trying to figure it out. Thanks. :))
