Cooder, Ry - Let's Have A Ball Lyrics

I wanna ball like I never did ball before (Before, before, before)
I wanna ball like I never did ball before (Before, before, before)
I may never get a break like this in life no more
Well, I wanna ball like I never did ball before (Before, before, before)
I wanna ball like I never did ball before (Before, before, before)
I may never get a break like this in life no more

Got money in my pocket
I ain't begging for bread
Cadillac El Dorado
Well, it's gone to my head
I got a short time living and a long greasy time to pay (play) dead
Ain't doing no favours, ain't asking for none
Honey, I got money, I can pay for my fun
That's the way I want it, that's the way it must be done

(Because)
I wanna ball like I never did ball before (Before, before, before)
I wanna ball like I never did ball before (Before, before, before)
I may never get a break like this in life no more

A certain little mama (You [?] for me)
Gonna jump and shout (Oh, yeah)
When the El Dorado rolls up (Ah)
And I'll come walking out [?]
Gonna tell ya pretty baby (Say you like nothing)
You don't know what it's all about
(I've got) No special woman (No special woman)
Want no special friend (No special friend)
Want a good time today (Good time today)
Tomorrow may be down again (May be down again)
Don't dial my number (Oh, Lord)
I'll tell you when (I'll tell you when)

I wanna ball like I never did ball before (Before, before, before)
Really wanna... never did ball before (Before, before, before)
I may never get a break like this in life no more

    This song is my Mantra.

    wat aa ball!!??

Flaco Jimenez struts his stuff on accordion at just past 5:00. If you had tried to tell me when I was fifteen that someday I'd be digging Rock bands with accordion players, I'd have thought you were nuts ---- but I have seen Ry and Flaco play together, and the Richard Thompson band with John Kirkpatrick, and I have seen the light!

  8. B.... M....

Ry Cooder, is other worldly in his talent, and then he collects all world musicians to play with him - wow

  9. A.... T....

Tell me if Im wrong, but I think Ry Cooder was the origin of what is now called "Americana". As is seen in this video, he appreciated all American music including North , Middle, and South American music. He started doing this publicly as a very young man on The Old Grey Whistle Test. He has performed so many times publicly when it was really about preserving American music. He could be said to be an historian of American Pop ( whatever that means, and I don't have a better characterization, except for " Americana ". Take a look on YT " Little Sister", a cover of an early Elvis song ( how American can you get ? ) and you will see his passion along with his amazing glass eye. That's another story all together, about how he lost his eye. And tell me this , who else does " Jesus on the Mainline " ? He is a collector of songs.

  10. B.... D....

Easily, one of the top recorded club concerts of all time ... This band behind Ry Cooder? Nothing can beat it musically, stylistically or artistically. Period.

  11. D.... ....

    Jim Keltner..unlike any other drummer..

  12. C.... H....

Saw this line-up at Wembley Arena in the late 80's & to this day it's the most astonishingly fabulous gig |I've ever been to without exception!!!

    C.... H....

Chris Hart it was the Get Rhythm tour in 1988. I was there and he was amazing opening up in the pitch dark with some of the finest unaccompanied slide you'll ever hear.

  33. b.... ....

This is surely one of the coolest and smoothest tunes around. Sure wanna have a party when I hear this. Ry Cooder definitely one of the best guitarists around and what a backing band. Great stuff indeed.

  34. 3.... ....

I'll take this guy and Kirk Lorange over Derek Trucks anytime

"Money in my pocket, going to my head," "Got my money in my pocket, Can pay for my fun." "I gonna' ball like I never did before."
I had a sub-prime mortgage, and my parents are dead or broke. I had a good job, but now that's just a joke. My sister was an attorney, but now she's got it worse. Well, we'll all live on the street, till we're all in need of a nurse. Money in my pocket, I can feel what it tasted like. My SUV; I had to trade in for a bike. The devil's in my pocket now...

I too remember seeing Ry a few years back in London.Always hoped I'd be able to see him again, never did,bur these videos go some way to making up for it.Many thanks.

  41. s.... ....

Ry Cooder is one of America's great musical treasures. I saw him in concert several years ago and he was amazing!

  42. R.... D....

I feel fortunate to having seen this tour when they played Wolfgangs in SF. Went BOTH nights. I have pictures to prove it ! Great memories !!!!

  43. B.... S....

Ohyeah! What great music. I second what KRGould said.

  44. h.... ....

Jim Keltner is the "star" in here..... is there another opinion?

    No?

  45. K.... G....

Most bands would be happy to close with this,,, Ry Cooder opens with it,, what a guy, what a band,,, awesome stuff indeed

  46. S.... S....

I love everything Ry has ever done and this is my favorite song by him.

  47. m.... t....

    wonderful music, great

  48. j.... s....

saw him again at the Sage in Gateshead lastnight, just the dog`s bollock`s

  49. j.... s....

just seen him in concert in dublin with his son ,and nick lowe . what can i say, but, i had a ball.

  50. B.... B....

Wow. This music is for me. Thank God my brother told me about Ry. I have been on a binge ever since.

  51. I.... ....

Ry is great on slide. I also recommend Rollin' and tumblin' by canned heat in Monterey '67. Let's work together also has some tasty slide guitar in it.

  52. g.... ....

You are so right music is very subjective and personal. Each musicians needs to be respected for what they do, not who's best. Ry, Eric, SRV, Buddy Al Collins etc they're all good. Comparing one to another is like saying mashed potatoes are better than baked!!

    g.... ....

Na huh...baked are better than mashed

  53. t.... ....

anything Jim Keltner involves himself in is always top notch.

  54. G.... Y....

    For Mr. Cooder:

Thank you for sharing so much of your incredible
music throughout the years. You have made
our world a bit nicer with your musical
contributions and your primo guitar playing.
May you continue with your best in the years
    to come.

  55. n.... ....

Don't worry lads - anyone who knows anything knows Ry da man!

  56. t.... ....

I'm just glad Ry got the respect of being ranked in the top ten.

You'd think Ry's vocal abilities would at least give him the edge over Duane, and I'm a huge Duane fan.

  57. J.... ....

What a great tone eh! Thanks for that, great stuff!!

  58. D.... D....

Absolutely! And stated by a dude that saw Duane free in the park in 1970...But, Ry already had lots of respect way before then. I still have the box a slide came in that mentions Ry's popularity (not Duane) that was The Reason This Slide Comes To You, etc.

  59. F.... ....

    Is Ry Cooder a cajun?
    I love his music!

  60. s.... ....

Duane Allman has nothing on Ry. I cant believe in the Rolling Stones top 100 guitarists off all time Allman is ranked 2nd and Ry is ranked 8th.
Should be the other way around

    s.... ....

Especially since richards stole from Ry

  61. D.... P....

    You know it! Got rhythm?

  62. J.... E....

If this don't get your feet a tappin, you must be dead....

  63. D.... E....

His name is not Raymond...it is Ryland.
