Contortionist, The - Reimagined Lyrics
When I found the point of life
It came creeping towards me
In the shape of I
It was all this reimagined
It was repetition
It was what you wanted to be
When I saw the shape of sound
Everything came spiralling
It was all this reimagined
It was a different kind of speech
It was repetition
It was what you wanted to be
Oh, come find
This caged me
Breathe
(Breathe)
Breathe in
(Breathe in)
Once you found the breath you'd lost
Breathe again
Breathe
(Breathe)
Breathe in
(Breathe in)
Once you found the breath you'd lost
Breathe again
It was all this reimagined
It was a different kind of speech
It was repetition
And I am exactly what you imagined me to be

The kind of love I have for this song is of beyond comparison
Advice:listen when high
This song is like musics version of a glass of water in the morning
is that the B.L.U.M.E sign?
This song 😪
Is this progressive? Why is it that any time someone calls something progressive...it just sounds like generic rock music?
Rest in peace Ambur Rosier

"When I found the point of life, it came creeping towards me in the shape of eyes" - Sounds like a few psychedelic trips I've had...
no doubt, their best song.

I hear elements of Pink Floyd in this song. SO GOOD. @00:59
You guys always seem sleepy in your Music videos SPECIALLY Michael lmao
there probably high as hell. they love psychedelics 😂
Not many prog bands could pull off a basic pop song structure like this and make it enjoyable for any music fan
i love this song soo damn much. it's perfect in every way.
Bro this song is just beautiful
I love Michaels body language! It Really brings emotion out of the song even more!
This album seems to outline vaguely the progression of a mushroom trip or something along those lines. The beginning is the come up--the lumbering monochrome (passive) and then "Godspeed" on your journey within.
Then this song happens as the cosmic realizations begin to hit. It came creeping towards me, in the shape of "I." I am. The reimagined self as a unified state of being. Clairvoyant being the sensation of being abke to divine all universal truths. "The center" of the trip happens in the center of the album, which is a swirling lull of psychedelic sensations that you're lost in. "Absolving" the self of guilt and letting go of intrusive thought patterns. Relapsing of ego and the "return to earth" after spending several hours as a psychedelic astronaut. And monochrome (pensive) as the reflective return to the original state with a glow of the trip staying with you.
God I love this album so much.
Oh yeah, this album is very drug related but it's all a matter of perspective I feel. Personally I imagine that this album is about coming down from the initial high of taking drugs, and not being so interested in them, but you can't stop because you're addicted. For example, clairvoyant's lyrics seem to be addressing someone, potentially an inner monologue, and he states "If we kill ourselves a little bit, is it worth it?" and depending on your views on recreational narcotics, your answer could be vastly different from mine.
Not to forget such on the nose references such as the song title "Relapse" and the constant lyrics about the character of this album becoming weak, and "skin and bones", most likely due to extended drug abuse, where it climaxes at Monochrome (Pensive), the song starts slow and sad, and as it reaches it climax it gets louder and more intense, with a few background noises that are probably memories of this characters life before he dies, and then it hits its peak, and unlike most climaxes in songs or stories, it doesn't slowly go back to a small level of intensity, it just instantly goes back to that slow, somber instrumental from the start of the song, with a little extra instruments in. I think this part represents the characters funeral, when they've died, made more obvious by the fact Michael directly addresses the character "I wish you the best" and the rest of the statements he makes towards him, which seems to comparable to a small eulogy. Michael did say himself, both this album and Language were based off of the death of a close friend of his, who lost his mother and spiralled into drug abuse, trying to get out of it before dying in the end, and with the end of Clairvoyant, ends this story, and The Contortionist look towards new themes or concepts for future music
I’m new to The Contortionist. Can anyone explain to me if the vocalist is the same from Exoplanet?
@naji awesome man thank you. The albums after Exoplanet are really an acquired taste. They just require much more concentration. I will check all those out.
@Rare Ghost Yeah, you learn to appreciate all of them soon enough, I'm glad to have the pleasure of being part of the fanbase of such an amazing band, it seems that no matter what topics or sound they want to include in their music, they don't just do it, they do it amazingly
@naji It's funny I actually saw them Live touring with Periphery I think? like 3 years ago. I didn't like them. Mainly because I didn't know any of the lyrics and it didn't help that Michael's singing is very low sounding. I want to see them again so I can appreciate them more now.
@Rare Ghost hah, I might've saw them during the same tour as you! Just two years ago, sonic unrest 2 tour in europe, loved the contortionists performance and peripherys
@naji yeah it was probably 2 years ago actually. Nice!!
You guys have no idea how much you have helped me. You guys are such a fucking awesome band.
Most of the time I don't like lazy ASMR vocals. But these bloke kinda enjoyable.
i thought it would be a scream at chorus
I think one of the best songs I have ever heard, well done mates, you inspire me in every aspect of my life this year
Nothing better than putting on this entire album and Playing drums to it.
Maynard influences us all.
I thought this kind of music died with Linkin Park
This song is lit af!
Витя АК из параллельной реальности))
guys you just put in music Plato's philosophy, that's not shit
I respect what they are doing from an artistic standpoint.. but I'm just a little bored by this.
This is my fav
Pleace come to Japan!
Seal meets deftones in progland...
I calll it post-minecraft-step, it pairs very well with cheese!
And they managed to put A Perfect Circle to sleep.
3:17 Minutes long. That's the Indianapolis area code.
exoplanet and intrinsic were amazing and language and clairvoyant are amazing as well i just wish they would add some more heavy parts for the next one.
Theres a particular scene I love in this video, starts at around 2:23 and ends at like 2:37. The way the camera pans to the right and then back to the left, the lighting, them just rocking out with their instruments, suits that instrumental part so well.
the guitar riff at 0:27 reminds me of the riff from led zeppelin-no quarter
Live saving, life changing music.
I can't begin to explain how it feels to watch this video in a very dark room at one in the morning....
That intro though, "it was a different kind of speech"
prog deathcore or just prog, The Contortionis is aways good
Words cannot express how much I vibe with this 🍄🍒🍄☥🔆☯I love you
Am I the only one who gets an LSD trip vibe from this? This helped me relate to my own LSD experience(s) I've had. The whole repetition, different kind of speech/speed. It just clicked for me when I had my first LSD peak. It took me completely. I was jo longer here. I had no idea of where or what here was. I was hollow, I entered the void. It was relaxing at first until I realized that I had always been there. It freaked me out. And ever since I've been there or it's been here. But anyways. this helped me become more relaxed with the trauma that came with that trip. I'm glad I don't feel traumatized anymore, though.
Asombroso :'3
Why can't it all just reinagine
Perhaps one of the best post-chourus breakdowns I've ever heard. You guys never cease to amaze.
I think the contortionist are the best at transitioning from hards to cleans but there were no hards in this album :( I hope the next album is heavier than exoplanet
I've listened to hundreds of albums from 2017. This was my AOTY. Best record in metal in a very long time.
401 people haven't seen the shape of sound
This song sounds like it was recorded faster than the end recording, then slowed down and then had some heroin injected into it for that smooth creamy feel.
Im hooked!!! Love this song!!! Friends of mine seen yall Wednesday in Greensboro, Im gonna have to check yall out sometime \m/ much luv
The music is so beautiful, emotional and powerful. This band was always on my radar but when Lessard joined and they made Language the album it completely blew me away; a brilliant and genius masterpiece, and now this. I can't wait to see them in Houston in about a week.
1 million
why did this song make me cry? its not even sad....
I’m in love with his voice!
This is the first song I've heard from this group, and it is outstanding. Wow. Thanks!
I cant stop comparing this album with tool
Return to earth is also a beautiful name
It’s so good I could cry
anyone else found this through Sarah Longfield?
I love all of The Contorionist's music and I think it's very interesting that even with constant changes in the vocal department everything feels canon still, like the actual music is guiding each album and the vocals are a variable. Every vocalist has had this ethereal tone to their singing and its beautiful.
Just lost a super close friend to me. Thank you for the remedy. RIP Derek
Perfection!!!
Came from Sarah longfields cover
Can't unhear the screaming part
does he have like, two hoodies?
Amazing! I get chills everytime I hear this song! What a great discovering :D
Whoever mixed this track. you did a magnificent job!! This track is by far the cleanest I have ever heard in the entire metal scene, no joke.
A friend from Canada told me she heard this on the radio and fell in love with the band. So I packed my bags and moved to Canada. Nah, imagine. I wish they played stuff like this in Dubai anywhere.
if TOOL were djent
you are Aliens
ok that's sick
Some Meynard stage presence influences... here and there.
The instrumentals from Exoplanet + his vocals from Clairvoyant. I'd kill for that.
Perfect
Did anyone notice the snare’s higher frequencies in the beginning? How it resonates in key; descending in note? ❤️
I was told this band was deathcore...
One of the best songs I’ve heard in my entire life... And I am into stuff like Fates Warning - so thats saying a lot..
Sons of tool
It sounds like its about lucy, can someone tell me what the song is about if thats not it
