Conor Oberst - Till St. Dymphna Kicks Us Out Lyrics
Rise and shine, get out of bed
Get ready for the day
Get a coffee from the deli
And walk the riverbank
Be careful with your headphones on
Don't want to be a casualty
Before you make it to the bar
And hide your shakes and worried face
Just sit down in the back
Your friends got there ahead of you
And night is falling fast
Oh, you know you shouldn't say it
So you're thinking it out loud
Some things we lost are never to be found
At least buy another round
And we can keep drinking till St. Dymphna kicks us out
This world is made of blinking lights
They're changing all the time
But depending who you're talking to
It's likely to be fine
I watched you go from bad to worse
The blues is here to stay
Sometimes it's the simple things that make it all okay
Oh, you don't have to lie, say you're alright
We're just happy that you're here
But if you yell and tell me to go to hell
Well at least you'd sound sincere
Oh, you know it's all a spectacle
When you go to take a bow
You always did get nervous in a crowd
But if you need some company
I'd gladly stick around
And we can keep drinking till St. Dymphna kicks us out
Let's get enabled
Great minds, they think alike
I never was a good judge of when to call it a night
Oh, you don't have to say it
So you're thinking it out loud
Some things go south and they never turn around
But if you want a confidant
I'd never let you down
Oh, we can keep drinking till St. Dymphna kicks us out
Yeah, we can keep drinking till St. Dymphna kicks us out

Conor, you are the fucking best! WTF kid...how do you keep doing it?! Best. You rock 'til the end of days! What the hell are you doing messing around with Christians/religious nonsense anyway?! Thank you for being you!
RIP st. dymphna's
Fitting eulogy for neighborhood fixture. rip St. Dymphna's
I am sad that the bar has closed down.
At this point he’s a living legend. If he doesn’t make it into the rock n’ roll hall of fame, I’ll be very disappointed.
Honestly dude the hall of fame doesn't really mean that much, radioheads not even in the hall of fame
I don’t like Radiohead. Lol
That sucks, I guess ur loss man, maybe in time, they're one of the best in my opinion
Farewell St. Dymphna's! Thank you for the memories.
Very similar to I won’t ever be happy again
one of the craft beer representatives at my job told me he was in this video... shame i cant remember what he looks like
Hard to believe this place closed yesterday. Loved every second of my time with my St.D's family. Dymphna's Forever <3!
Damn.....feeling really homesick right now. I live in Maine now, but Dymphna's was my bar, on and off, from 2001 until I left NYC in 2014.
Sadly the place mentioned in this video is closing after 20+ years. Thank gentrification for that.
This song kinda reminds me of "Cold Chillin' Cold Chillin'" by BTMI
Can someone tell me what this song has to do with St. Dymphna? Like, did he just pick a saint's name at random? Confused...
it's a bar in NY
The patron saint of mental illness
fucking BRILLIANT. thank you !!
lmao is that nick bruno
Hey Michigan,miracles are real.
Conor is a genious

St Dymphna is an actual bar in New York, people. I know Conor likes his symbolism but this is literally about all the times he spent at this bar.
video is sick, song is so so
wow this is the stupidest thing ever
What kind of shot is this called in cinematography?
Local public radio was playing this on my drive home. I love it.
Griffin from Dawes w/ a cameo!!!!! Great song btw
Thanks for making me feel like I'm not drinking alone when I listen to you Conor!

I like the production on this song
@ColoredSpaces
Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see you on tour!!! Couldn't make it to your last show in SoCal thanks to work (#nannylife). Also.. Can't wait to blast this on my kayak this summer, Keep on making your gorgeous music because I'll keep on listening <3 <3 <3
Lower East side bar... I've been there.
Gosh who's the hunk at :56 ?? Fierce like a beat poet
Joe Wirtheim I like that compliment, made me laugh.
The melody in this song brings me back to "I will never be happy again"...
At least something in the intro...
This was my go to bar in college! East Village, NYC.
Searching the comments for the names of the people in the video, and saw your comment. Hahaha. Conor bringing us together, still. Hope you're doing well, Jaime!
Hi! So funny. Hope you're doing alright too!
This song reminds me so much of another one of his songs, I fee like its one on the One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels. But I cant put my finger on it. Regardless, I love anything this human puts out
Well morning came, and it dressed the sky
In a lovely yellow gown
I'll never be happy again
Amazing, reminds me of late bright eyes, and conor being blatantly true about shit.
Stephin Merritt ??????
Now I have the urge to make Wednesday...Funnesday?
Stephen Merrit!!!!!! is in this video!
The version on Ruminations all piano and harmonica is way better!! Wonderful video!!
Agreed; A Little Uncanny was even worse.
Haha little uncanny ain't my fav either. St Dymphna, Tachycardia and Gossamer thin are great.
BTW listen to my album on spotify Danny Fingers and the Thumbs Cinelife!! It's great!
What a brilliant mind. Conor, you are a living legend.

Yes!! I knew I had seen him somewhere
Great as ever!
What a lovely video! Rly loved this version!
Conor never disappoints ❤❤
this and gossamer thin are my two fav tracks - great job conor
amazing artist. I swear every song he creates is unique and a masterpiece
Great vid and fabulous coat Dave!
The video reminds me a bit of "First day of my life" , Conor is a gift for us !
Every time I saw a new person watching this video:
Is that Conor? 😮 - No 😔 - Is that Conor? 😮 - No 😔 - I see a dog 😐 - Is that Conor? 😑
thats a long table
it is a circle
You're both wrong lol..
Hiebs What kind of shot is this called in cinematography?
@BGM Live! linking shot i guess but its definitely chopped up
The fact that Stephin Merritt is at the bar is the cherry on this sundae... A beautiful song with a knod from one brilliant songwriter to another.
Love this song ❤️ you've done it again Conor
Conor got dim skillz fer dayz
this is crazy. i just learned about Saint Dymphna the other day and drew a picture of her... and Conor is my fave but I hadn't heard this song.
Absolutely wonderful video! Great job!!
Great tune, great video.
That's one long table
Great Song - Again!
Always! ❤
i love this arrangement, so pumped for salutations
St. Dymphna is the patron saint of the nervous, emotionally disturbed, mentally ill, and those who suffer neurological disorders - and, consequently, of psychologists, psychiatrists, and neurologists. She is also the patron saint of victims of incest
thanks, man
Ola Corleone hmm that would be a great name for one..
When I saw him live in SD recently he stated that this song was about a bar he often goes to in NYC....called St. Dymphna
hey, i am one of the guys who shot this music video. i'm also in various scenes in the video as well with my girlfriend(we are the couple kissing, and the couple with matching denim jackets). the pub is all real. its been a special place to conor and all of our friends for many years. the role of st. dymphna can be many different things. if you notice the ending, when the girl pulls the closing gate down, theres a heavy bit of symbolism there. i wont give it all away, but shes the owner of the bar. shes in a way, our special saint.
She ran away when her mom died and her Pagan father wanted to marry her. He tracked her down and cut off her head when she refused him. She was staying at a nunnery and helping the ill.
That was fucking beautiful.
You really are the best, Conor. Thank you for all your beautiful music.
ad is playing, but I liked the video cause Conor does no bad
Great video, great song.
So looking forward to this album.
Haha I'm referring to the album coming out on march 17. Not the previous solo works.
Ahahah okok
Whaaaaat!? I thought that Ruminations was all that we were getting! So you're saying that there will be a full band version?! 😮
Rachel Trainor yup. More songs, full-band.
Perfect! 🙌🏻
