I was fortunate enough to be one of the Confederate reenactors used during the making of this video. We were on the flat cars behind the coal car and wandered behind the band around the campfire. I was also interviewed by Entertainment Tonight. During the campfire scene someone backed a minivan with sound equipment just out of sight and the guys lip-synced the lyrics. The Confederate/Federal scenes were shot at the Chattanooga Railway Museum.

+William Mode During a support the flag rally here in Memphis on Nathan Bedford Forrest's birthday,there was a Confederate re-enactor group rendering honors to both the American flag and the Confederate flag.
I commented to a reporter covering the even that "It was funny that Confederate and Union drill and ceremonies during the War between the States were the same.It was almost as if everyone was American or something."
That comment didn't make the evening news.

"Summer in Dixie" was Confederate Railroad's first single to miss making the Top 40 in the United States. It only managed to get to #55, where as "Daddy Never Was The Cadillac Kind", and "Elvis and Andy", from the same album, made it to #9 and #20, respectively. It's kind of sad really, because this is probably the best song on the "Notorious" album in my opinion.

Where did I call you a rebel, are you stupid or something my great grandfather was a Confederate soldier, he was wounded in VA and put in a prison camp, came home disabled. The law breakers were the yankee soldiers who looted the land, pillaged southern citizens, burned towns/homes to go home as heroes. What wasn't destroyed or stolen in the war was taken later by carpet baggers who swarmed in after!

I have some Cherokee in my family, they wanted to prove themselves civilized and go the white mans way, appeal to white mans court, took it to the supreme court and won, end result was Andrew Jackson's famous line to the court, "lets see them uphold it," followed by the Trail Of Tears! Indians got in the war of northern aggression on both sides hoping for freedom, how did the north repay for help, look where they live. Sherman had been doomed without their rescue when he was stuck in a bog!

There is a small part in "Gangs Of New York" that included the shelling of the city due to them refusing to join the union troops to fight in Lincolns war, upon my studies in high school for my term paper 20 years ago, I recall reading 2 placed shelled by the union up north for not simply following the order and enlisting. Not that history books would contain word on troops killing civilians who would not serve, after all, every northerner is to believe it was for freeing the colored man!

Sad fact everyone seems to miss, the empire created in 1861, it brought us to where we are now, a central power leading all states in the direction it see's fit, tax dollars collected from everyone is spent on what it deems as necessary. Tax your land, your income, your goods you buy, your goods you sell, when you die they tax again your estate which was taxed as you built it, just so those who inherit it pay! Look into the shelling of New York by union troops, Lincoln ordered the damn near destruction of the city, because they refused to serve in his army, so much for 100% support in the war, there were even more across the north, some were called Bushwackers. The history books do not speak the truth, norther papers were censored to keep loyalty to the union, many believed it was the south's right to secede.

We southerners were fighting for our homes, we were invaded by an army sent by a president we didn't vote for, he didn't get majority, he started the war, and did so due to the fact that 80% of the governments collected money was from taxing the south. @kidman1987 if you're coming down the east coast, I think the new mason dixon line would be somewhere just north of Richmond, Virginia. I mean, Im from Virginia, and we used to be very southern, but northern virginia is overrun with DC government workers, and you really dont feel the South there anymore.
