Concrete Blonde - Take Me Home Lyrics
Pick up the phone I know you're there
It's almost closing time
& we can toss down one more shot
Before last call
I swear to God
I gotta get out of this house
I miss the days when I'd just
Not come home at all..
So, don't you cry, it'll give you lines
Around your eyes
You gotta try not to live so much of
Life alone.
& if I see you getting crazy by the bottom of the bottle
You home
Remember when we used to stumble
Down the boulevard
From bar to bar until we couldn't stagger straight
It seemed like we would live forever,
Life was not this hard
No we felt nothing much at all but it felt
Great
So, don't you cry it'll give you lines
Around your eyes
You gotta try not to live so much of
Life alone
& if I see you getting crazy by the bottom of the bottle,
Take you home, I'll take you home, I'll
Take you home.
Things get better everyday you stay alive
Then I'm amazed
Every day
That the sun decides to rise
Every minute, every hour, is another
Chance to change
Life is beautiful & terrible & strange.
So don't you cry, it'll give you lines around
Your eyes
You gotta try not to live so much of life alone
& if I see you getting crazy by the bottom
Of the bottle,
Take you home, I'll take you home, I'll take you home.
Now don't you cry, it'll give you lines around
Your eyes
You gotta try not to live so much of life alone
& if you see me getting crazy by the bottom of the bottle,
Take me home, take me home, take me home.

"Things get better everyday you stay alive

It's where she says, "So don't you cry it'll give you lines around your eyes..." that gets me. Particularly since I've been a fan since I was 18 and now I'm 46 and I've cried enough tears to form lines around my eyes.
Don't cry life is beautiful and I'm sure you are too.
Awesome
I'm so glad we still have real musicians who don't sell out.........only the privileged know about c.b.
Nice n ezy Johnette.....sexy and great vocals.

Best Fuckn Band On Earth🌎
Concrete Blonde got me through the really rough times in my past...packs of cigarettes...staggering... anyone going through hard times, hang in there and let this amazing music be your conduit out of the darkness.
sukekiyo6 I always send the song "Happy Birthday " to anyone having a birthday in the hopes that they'll be happy to be acknowledged with a song on their birthday, but also so that they'll discover Concrete Blonde, a band I've loved for almost 30 years.

Take me home, take me home, take me home.
I stopped crying and got off your path of madness. I thought you were my home. I'll even quote you word for word, "It cannot be, the cost is too high"...you were right. Good bye
This song really gets me! Thank you for everything!
Always Great Music!!!
"Life is beautiful, terrible, and strange...."
Why is it when she sings "So don't you cry...."I start crying? This woman reaches in and pulls out your soul and makes it sound so beautiful in its tragic melancholy.

💕One of the most talented!!Much Respect from New Orleans Louisiana..☆ Opal..StephanieOpal aka Big MamA
Johnette Napalitano is one of the most memorable singers in rock n' roll history! She's practically her own genre! She makes everything she sings sound so effortless! ^_^
very nice this song
Does make me wanna drink !!
Love this song !! Ty so much !!!
Apart from her amazing vocals, great back beat bass, poetic genious. I love her NOSE.
A MUSICA É LINDA! E O CLIPE É DIVERTIDO E EMOCIONANTE.]
Awesome!
Thanks for uploading this missing gem! \,,/
Thank you Johnette.
This is a beautiful song,,to me she depicts the life of common ,folks,,freaks ,no ones,,,odd ones , who live their lives as normally as ,,normal people do. She gives us a peek in their lives about love ,friendship, romance , living, it shows that no matter who you are,, you exist in society living your life as you feel. ..
so pra quem entende...
This song means a lot to me.
Concrete Blonde was the first music I could, truly, relate to. It was proof that there was poetry in music; a rare thing in the 80's (and beyond). I searched for this song, NEVER expecting an actual Blonde video of it. Initially, I wrote this album off (back in my "bitter days of only listening to old stuff"). So glad I gave this another chance because it is an AMAZING album. That was 10 years ago. Johnette has ONLY gotten better live. I, still, don't know if she's only trying to connect with the fans of her persona or if that's really her. Personally, I don't care. If it's only a performance then, FUCK YEAH! She does it better than anyone could. I believe it's her. I believe it's the BAND. I've been lucky enough to see them twice; Bloodletting (still have the marque posters) and 20 years of Bloodletting. LOL Anyway, this song means a lot to me.
You would absolve 'Angel' from same album..I think Group Therapy is there best & most mature work...
I saw them in concert a couple of years ago and they were awesome.. Wish they would come to Vegas again...
Hey is Jim Mankey on this?
Yep, he's playing bass and Johnette is playing guitar, they switched it up.
+Dave Smith Grey to blonde. Canadian spelling of gray
@ Alan Perez: Well said.
Is there a reason why I think I recognize the drunk bartender?
Beautiful video message too. Giving of each other is the greatest gift we can receive & bestow. We need relationships and love to survive & to grow. Relationships are hard & very often painful, but the alternative is worse; making living unsustainable. Remember - that which connects us outweighs that which divides us. (Wow! a poem, kinda)
Very well said!!
Still my favorite song from Johnette. Her voice and songwriting have only gotten better over the years.
I think the real travesty would've been, if you (and me) wouldn't have ever discovered this song. Better later than never.
follow her on twitter!
get their Live in Brazil cd...so GREAT!! (2 cds)
I think it's a travesty I only just discovered this song. This is truly an awakening!
This song moves me deeply - "Behind Blue Eyes" has been my theme song since I 14 but I think it has finaly been replaced with the other side of the coin. I need this song.
Holy Crap!!! I've always loved this band and always loved Johnette especially. "Life is Beautiful and Terrible and Strange" - truer words have never been spoken. How and when did we get so old? (dumb question I know) but it WILL take you by surprise before you know it, in a fleeting (sometimes frightening) flash.
linda!
Wonderful! Thanks for posting this song. I had not heard it before.
Great song and video!
Nice work, many thanks for the upload !
