In the UK, this was backed by "Glendora" - which I have up somewhere. But I have 'em on 78 - this is the first time in 50 years I've heard it this CLEARLY! Thanks.

On this day in 1956 {June 9th} "More" b/w "Glendora" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; and both sides made the Top 10...
"More" peaked at #4 while "Glendora" reached #8...
It also had the same success in the United Kingdom; "More" reached #10 on their Singles chart and "Glendora" made it to #18...
Perry Como passed away on May 21st, 2001 at the age of 88...
May he R.I.P.

This hit by Perry Como hit #4 on the Top 40 charts and #10 in the United Kingdom. It would come in at #39 for the year, 1956. And the hits are getting bigger.

This song in my opinion, and contrary to the more popular view, is a far greater and more enduring waltz tune, than the song More from Mondo Cane.
besides Perry Como had such a relaxed voice compared to that of Andy Williams big sound.

Thanks for a great post. I recently saw a Lawrence Welk show on PBS saluting Perry that played the song More, only they played the wrong one. Instead of this one they sang the song More from the movie Mondo Cane, the one that goes More than the greatest love the world has known. This is the love I'll give to you alone. A beautiful song, but not the one Perila sang.
