Colter Wall - Nothin' Lyrics
Hey mama, when you leave
Don't leave a thing behind
I don't want nothing
I can't use nothing
Take care into the hall
Tell em I'm fine
Not using nothing
Almost burned out my eyes
And threw my ears down to the floor
I didn't see nothing
I didn't hear nothing
I stood there like a block of stone
Knowing all I had to know
And nothing more
Brothers our troubles are
Locked in each others arms
And you better pray
That they never find you
Cause your back ain't strong enough
Burdens doublefold
They'd crush you down
Down into nothing
Being born is going blind
And bowing down a thousand times
To echoes strung
On pure temptation
Sorrow and solitude
These are the precious things
And the only words
That are worth remembering

Colter Wall Nothin' Comments
I’m sure Townes would be pleased
The only cover that comes close to the FULL meaning of the song. This kid gets it. GREAT job!
Hey mamma when you leave,
Don't leave a thing behind.
I don't want nothin',
Who can use nothin'?
Take care onto the hole.
If you see my friends,
tell 'em: I'm fine.
Not use and nothin'.
Almost burnt out my eyes,
Through my ears down to the floor.
Didn't see nothin',
Didn't hear nothin'.
Stood there like a block of Stone,
don't know all I had to know.
Nothin' more.
My aim's nothin'.
Brothers are, troubles are
Locked in each other's heart.
You better pray,
They'll never find you.
Sit back ain't strong enough,
Burden's double foe.
It crushes you down,
Down into nothin'.
Being born is going black,
By down as a tight.
But it goes strong
On your temptation.
Sorrow and solitude,
These are the precious things,
The only words,
That are worth remembered.
Being born is going blind *
One reason he'll never be big is he refuses to sighn the blood pact with "the devil"👉Nashville
This man has the rare ability to combine a hauntingly raw voice with guitar playing that fits him like an old leather coat..leaves me feelin things i didnt expect..
A very good cover with a really great guitar
Voice as deep as the ocean
It's a cover... a damn good one, but it only stands because of Townes' life... his truly unique experiences... his deep pain and brutally honest reflection. No... "Nuthin'" compares to the Original... nuthin'.
Colter Wall is such a pure artist his voice brings me chills
I don't typically find myself for lack of a way to express my opinion. Wow.
Townes van Zandt was great, but this guy is very good, too.
the only that speak espanish here, that sad :'v ...denle Like los que hablan español como yo :'3 ❤
Hola mamá, cuando te vayas
No dejes nada
No quiero nada
No puedo usar nada
Ten cuidado en el pasillo
Y si ves a mis amigos
Diles que estoy bien
Sin usar nada
Casi me quemo los ojos
Arrojé mis orejas al suelo
No vi nada
No escuche nada
Me quedé allí como un bloque de piedra.
Sabiendo todo lo que tenía que saber
Y nada más
Hombre, eso no es nada
Como hermanos, nuestros problemas son
Encerrados en los brazos del otro
Y mejor reza
Nunca te encuentran
Tu espalda no es lo suficientemente fuerte
Para cargas de doble pliegue
Te aplastarían
En la nada
Nacer se está quedando ciego
Y comprando mil veces
A los ecos colgados
En pura tentación
Tristeza y soledad
Estas son las cosas preciosas
Y las únicas palabras
Que vale la pena recordar
I liked the original version of this song, but this cover is simply better in every way. So much feeling. I could listen to this all day long.
I think it's just different. Townes sounds like he's just given up completely, feelin nothin truly. Colter still sounds in pain, a soulful ache.
it's "better" in the same way johnny cash's Hurt is "better" than trent reznor's. it's more hopeless, more complete, but the cover would never have come about if the original had not existed.
This album was only 10 bucks and then 7 more for shipping! I can't wait to relax and delve deeper into this album and my own depression when it arrives. Lol
Saw this kid last night in Chicago. His voice is startling. His guitar work is original. He'll be around as long as he wants to be.
Colter Wall is a rare find, a true deep soul bringing it from down deep..his haunting presentations are addicting.....hell yes...!
Amazing song. Awesome rendition.
townes would be proud
No he don't...i'm sorry
Dio Catania I agree this cover is good
Agreed. The only cover that comes close to the FULL meaning of the song. This kid gets it. GREAT job!
