To all the idiots saying that this version is better - just no. Not even close. It's an emotional song and the original is dripping with emotion. This version all the emotion is removed and is nothing more than a mere technical display. Get an ear for music. This doesn't touch the original, period.

Ron pope's is still the best. He put so much emotion into it when he sang it I felt it in my veins. Yes, Javier has talent no doubt. But singing is not just about sounding good. It's about emotion as well. I didn't feel what I felt when Ron sang it when I listened to this.

exactly what I thought, I heard the song for the first time today and I could not recall where I heard it from. I knew it was from the voice so I typed it and now that I listened to his, its slightly better, he made the song which is already awesome, better/perfect.

Like poeticmineframe45 said, the real meaning of a song has nothing to do with who sings it, it has to do with the words. Just saying. Both are great, I prefer Javier's version though. And it obviously didn't do "nothing for the real meaning of the song" if I cried the first time I heard it on Pandora and instantly loved it.

'ron pope - a drop in the ocean' has been my favourite song since the first time i heard it on the vampire diaries so about a year. In my itunes it is on about 400 plays and i have only had my iphone about 100 days. I love the song so much and i have just heard this for the first time and have fallen in love with it so i have downloaded it. I am instantly emotionally connected with both and i don't understand how people can say oh this is better because tbh they are both absolutely fantastic

He could do Ron Pope, Sarah Brightman, whoever and he would sound just as good. This guy has a very soulful voice and has complete control of all of his tones. He loves to play with the notes, which makes his voice even more beautiful!

I don't believe he tried to....he is covering a song that he obviously loves and respects, it's almost impossible to match this song with another voice because Ron's has a certain quality that seems to fit this song perfect, Javier wasn't tryin to outdo anyone, he is an amazing singer, check out "Ok, Here's The Truth"....beautiful song of his he wrote and recorded....and all respect to Ron Pope, I couldn't see him singing it....goes both ways...both GREAT/INSPIRING singer/songwriters

One of my favorite singers singing my favorite song :) But as much as I love Javier Colon and as awesome as this sounds, it still doesn't even compare to Ron Pope... I've listened to it over 600 times, and yet I still cry every single time. It takes skill to accomplish that!
