Collins, Judy - Wings Of Angels Lyrics
Wings of angels, tears of saints
Prayers and promises won't bring you back
Come to me in dreams again
Wings of angels, tears of saints
In that cold city far away
A city by a river deep
With promises you could not keep
A place where you had gone to try
A place where you had longed to fly
A city smiling when you cried
A city sleeping when you died
Wings of angels, tears of saints
Come to me in dreams again
Wings of angels, tears of saints
In that cathedral by the hill
We stood and talked in happier days
The fields along the river's edge
You fished and traveled hungrily
Your light burned in that sunny sky
Your voice above the river rang
I'd give it all, give all I have
For one more chance to hear you sing
Wings of angels, tears of saints
Prayers and promises won't bring you back
Come to me in dreams again
Wings of angels, tears of saints
Child of thunder in the dark
Child whose voice was like a lark
Child whose spirit burning bright
Child of many beauties
When the birds fly to the south
When the wind blows to the north
You are in the falling snow
You are beauty going forth
You are heat and you are light
Sun above the mountain's peak
I'd give it all, give all I have+
For one more chance to hear you speak
Wings of angels, tears of saints
Prayers and promises won't bring you back
Come to me in dreams again
Wings of angels, tears of saints
Wings of angels, tears of saints
Prayers and promises won't bring you back
Come to me in dreams again
Wings of angels, tears of saints
Prayers and promises

Collins, Judy Wings Of Angels Comments
Good god, she's as powerful an artist and performer as they come.
The voice of an angel. I've been listening to Judy at least a couple of times each week for fifty years.
I actually prefer this live version over the studio version. The string ensemble makes a huge addition and difference here! And Judy's emotions with this song in memory of Clark are so evident.
How beautiful, an emotional tribute to her son.
What a beautiful song this is. Thank you Judy, for your songs which capture our souls. Montreal, Canada has a very special place for you in our hearts ever since you put Leonard Cohen on the American stage and recorded so many of his songs. We love you Judy Collins...and I am so very sorry for your loss.
Her piano skill is unbelievable... to be able to sing while playing so deftly... what a talent. Beautiful song.
Another amazing song.
My heart cried for her imagine her pain not being able to hear his voice again Not being able to touch his face Imagine her pain Imagine her being all alone .Imagine not having your child near How would you feel What would you feel?
une tres jolie voix
If there are such things as angels, they sing like Judy Collins.
Yes, they do.
Yup!!!!
I can't ever keep from breaking down every time I watch you. I'm so sorry you lost your son. I can't inagine how I would act if I lost my only Son. I pray you will remember me when You come into Your Own. Bless Your Sweet Heart
Judy Collins has always been such an incredible singer, touching so eloquently on both love and loss. I can't imagine what it would be to lose a child as this tribute to her son is so lovingly evident. I played her song, "Pirate Ships", at my mother's funeral. I did so for my niece who was 11 at the time of our mother's death. My niece grew up in a dysfunctional family of abuse and drugs, but my mother's love and home was always a sanctuary to her. That song described a loving soul, an angel, who would always embrace and love you in spirit. Thank you, Ms. Collins, for your talent and giving voice to those we have lost.
One of our finest national treasures.
I don't know how she gets through this - I can't and I'm just listening to it. And I am still hurt and mad and it has been 35 years.
We never stop missing & loving them, wherever they are.
Sorry for your loss .
Judy Collins talked about how she managed the terrible loss of her son to suicide, and she spoke of her initial desire to leave the world in general and music in particular. She spoke of Joan Rivers, who lost her own husband to suicide, and who convinced Judy that she must continue to make music. I thank God for these women. Thanks for the encouragement, thanks for the music that never lets us forget our humanity, and thanks for showing us the strength of the human heart.
Thanks for posting this!!
This is very touching, but so tough to hear. Tears and tears and tears.
Brought tears. thank you for the beautiful song.
ty from another mother whose son is in the light.
