Collective Soul - Blame Lyrics

You pushed me down
For all the world to see
I guess that's your price
For my loyalty
So while you're tasting sin
And swallowing pain
Don't look at me
To take your blame

When you're willing to render
To the guilt you concede
When truth is your reason
Then lay that blame on me
When you unveil a conscience
And with peace you agree
When love is your constant
Then lay that blame on me

You lay me out
In hopes that I'd wilt away
But strength rained down
And love provided shade
So while the pageant of lies
Still glow from your tongue
Don't blame me for
Your Kingdom Come

Question your answers
Truth has no anger

Christian Bail always did a great job singing with this band, he’s a great actor don’t get me wrong, but boy he was quite a musician as well.

  2. W.... D....

    1996: This song is amazing.
    2020: This song is amazing.

  3. M.... S....

Was this song about Collective Soul's original management and/or label?

  4. R.... R....

    Ed is SO cuuuuute!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. C.... L....

After re-discovering Collective Soul after a 7 year sabbatical, I certainly remember WHY I loved the band so much then and now. Ross Childress' guitar tracks are like no other. A spectacular musician. The lyrics? Some of the best ever. Thank you.

  11. J.... ....

SO MUCH LOVE FOR THIS BAND!!!!

  12. t.... ....

CS were an amazing band in the 90's. In the post-grunge era they made many great ROCK albums that were among the best of the decade, but unfortunately (strangely), Ed wanted to abandon that post-grunge Rock sound that had made them what they were, for a pop sound in the 2000's...the result being a string of poor albums...please go back to what you guys do - did, best. ROCK.

  13. t.... ....

    The earth is flat

  14. D.... G....

I never heard a Collective Soul song I didn't like. Still listening 😀

  15. D.... G....

This is one of the most inspirational and intellectual bands to reach us in recent times. These men and their music and lyrics are a blessing from God above part of the covenant that was promised to us. Keep rocking it and keep the faith and beautiful music coming.

  16. K.... C....

I wish they would still play this live!!

  17. S.... K....

    Great album!! ❤

  18. J.... W....

Why didn't I appreciate how good this band was.

  19. M.... B....

    One of their best songs.

  20. J.... K....

I think that's Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec) Playing the Strongman.

  21. C.... D....

Collective Soul was the absolute BEST concert I have ever attended! Saw them summer of 2012.

  22. j.... b....

Three different times i have gone to see them with someone that was going to see one of the other acts playing. All three times those people said CS was better than the band they liked and went to see.

You can ask people if the know collective soul and they will not be sure. Play them any one of their many, many hits and they are like, "yeah, i love that song".

  23. D.... P....

this band is my guilty pleasure that I don't dare reveal to anyone I know.....

  24. K.... C....

  42. i.... ....

The most underrated band in the whole world of all time... officially!

    i.... ....

Ed Roland is the best songwriter of the past 2+ decades. and he is amazing in live shows <3

    i.... ....

i agree.i think ed roland is a genius in his own right.cs songs always have great harmonics and melodies.

    i.... ....

be honest and im a lover of the band but since Ross messed up with Ed's woman and got kicked out, its never been the same. Ross Childress filled every one of these songs with just killer original sounding guitar licks.

  43. S.... i....

Man, as awesome as this is the opening and ending guitar licks are some of the most aurally pleasing pieces I've ever heard and are a level above the rest of the song. I wish the band would write another song based solely on those parts.

    S.... i....

Can't give you enough thumbs up,,

    S.... i....

this band has so many nice guitar riffs in other songs too

    S.... i....

withiout ross that guitar parts wouldnt be what you were looking for in this instance.

    S.... i....

This comment gets 1 reply per year. And i think that's a mandolin.

  44. R.... B....

    i love this song <3

    R.... B....

    My favorite

  45. B.... ....

The opening guitar riff in this song is so beautiful. Collective Soul has always had the perfect combination of emotion, a great sound, and lyrics.

  46. H.... W....

I saw them in concert 3x. Can't get enough

I agree 100% with Mark Poncho! I have seen them a few times over the years and always a great show. Just all around great music and lyrics.

  53. O.... D....

  54. j.... r....

reminds me of when I was a little girl

  55. C.... N....

Hopefully they will tour as well!!

  56. K.... C....

Collective Soul is sadly underrated and overlooked. Hopefully they will have good success with their new album due out soon.

    K.... C....

@Kelly Curtis i agree, they deserve more credit where it way overdue & deserve Hollywood "Walk of Fame!" I would vote for them!!!! He's a beautiful & creative writer!!!

  57. R.... L....

Beautiful... such a great songwriter is Ed.    ] -)

  58. a.... s....

To Tara Raymond: Yes, Ross Childress is a great guitarist. If he had loved his place in the band so much he shouldn't have had an affair with Ed's wife. And yes, it takes two to tango. You just don't do that.

  59. E.... ....

"Question your answers... your truth has no anger"

    E.... ....

I love this line of the song. Something about it is just so powerful

  60. E.... L....

  61. T.... F....

btw thats Ron Swanson of Parks & Recreation tv fame in the video!

    T.... F....

@The Fasttrack Fan So glad you said that! Just re-watched this video for the first time in so many years and thought we were crazy for thinking that! lol

  62. T.... F....

    great song,my favorite album,their "darkest".

  63. R.... G....

Finally! Heard this tune last night on a local radio station, knew it was Collective Soul, but didn't know the song title. And as usual, this twit station didn't tell me what that title was. After much research...FINALLY! Love this song!

    R.... G....

Robert Gregory Same! Whenever it came on I was like I KNEW this was them but TUE never named the title whenever it came on which was very rare. So I looked up the lyrics from what I remembered and I found it a couple years ago and I listened to it so much that same day. It's now my all time favorite they did along with December and even Burning Bridges

  64. D.... N....

60s would probably take the cake, though I'd put the 90s right after. 70s were solid, but still gave birth to disco, so...

  65. S.... S....

love all of Collective soul, but the Disciplined Breakdown album has always been my fave....

    S.... S....

Sean Spring this was pissed CS. Their management was out to screw em over during this period and this song in particular was them calling them out.

  96. u.... ....

@MoneyMoe456 I was born in 1990, my mom influenced me with Collective Soul since well... kids don't have 'musical taste' yet, and that's what she listened to back in the day. Driving out to the city, this is was the most common driving tunes. But, between 91~94 is was Queen mostly. :P

  97. M.... W....

nice song. but i want to see 'reunion' video

  98. E.... M....

@Mainrollman Totally agree with ya. My buddies and I recently came up with our own top 20 bands of all time. And needless to say Collective Soul was inside my top 8. Love the boys from Lanta.

  99. J.... C....
