She had a pretty rough time of it - but always came through shining.
Her "12 days of Christmas" turned this traditional carol from sort of a "holiday ordeal" to a REAL joy we've always looked forward to hearing again at Christmastime.
May she rest in peace, this was my favorite song she did - if you don't know she passed away at age 65

There's no "right" or "wrong" lyrics to this song. The lyrics are performed many different ways, especially on the last four verses, where I have heard nearly every combination of pipers piping, ladies dancing, lords a-leaping, and drummers drumming. Some versions replace the drummers drumming with "fiddlers fiddling." Other variations include "My true love gave/sent/brought to me" and "Five golden/gold rings." These are the lyrics I'm partial to, since they were the ones used on the Disney Christmas VHS I had when I was little:

I still love Natalie's voice so MUCH! Just as I did her dad's. Both their Christmas music is superb!
I remember purchasing this CD back in 1999 when it came out, and it still remains my favorite! This rendition of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" (the last song on the CD) is a jazzy yet classical, whimsical and wacky version especially after the 9th day of Christmas! LOL! But love, love ,love the jazzy,spectacular ending to the song!! Puts me in a great mood! Love you Miss Natalie Cole!!
