Cole, Natalie - Here's That Rainy Day Lyrics

Magnificent! Heard this on XM last night.

So delicate...so powerful!

I feel that this is the best rendition of Here's That Rainy Day I ever listened to.

Here's another example where Natalie proves she'd found her musical niche. The standards are a good way for a singer like Cole to showcase their true singing ability. She'll be remembered more for those standards than her forays into other genres which did nothing to showcase her voice.

This is a great performance of one of my favorite Burke/Van Heusen tunes, and Ms. Cole displays every bit of the taste and musicianship she inherited from her father.
However, the real star of this track is, for me, the arranger, Nan Schwartz:
She manages to couple "impressionism" with "after hours" in a way I've rarely heard, and you can find out more about her here:

(I rarely comment on visuals, as my primary interest is the Music, but all props to this Poster, as the visuals are gorgeous.)

This arrangement was written by Nan Schwartz, Grammy-winning Hollywood film score composer-arranger. You will never hear a better arrangement ( written orchestration) of this great American classic song. This is beautiful, sensuous, magnificent and deeply emotional, rich with harmonic textures, soaring melodic expression, and musical sophistication. I only hope Natalie is listening to this in heaven with her father Nat 'King' Cole.

This is almost overwhelming. So sad for Natalie. I've been playing this song for years as an instrumental and with singers. But I have never been moved like this before. She was very, very special...
