Cole, Nat King - There Goes My Heart Lyrics

There goes my heart, there goes the one I love
There goes the girl I wasn't worthy of
There goes my happiness, it couldn't be
There goes somebody else in place of me

Goodbye romance, it couldn't last somehow
I had my chance but it's all over now
I never thought that she could pass me by
There goes my heart and here am I

I never thought that she could pass me by
There goes my heart and here am I

Here's a great version of this wonderful song played back in 1963 by a Drum & Bugle Corps from Dorchester MA.

    Thanks for this video!

The Mills Brothers also have a gorgeous version of this song. It's on an album from the early 1960's (I believe) titled, "These Are The Mills Brothers". I started singing this song in my performances when I was 27 yrs. old. I'm turning 59 in June. The song is always a guaranteed dance floor filler. A truly great, well crafted song never dies. It just keeps getting rediscovered. :)

I was unable to find this version on You Tube, but I did find a fine version by the Ink Spots.

Never before or since has there been a more remarkable, irreplaceable talent. When we lost him, the world lost, in my opinion, one of the greatest singers of all time. His songs have touched generations with an incomparable voice and style...he was musical PERFECTION! This is one of my favorite examples.

Wonderful version by the great Nat King Cole -

  27. H.... D....

Music to relax to - they just don't make anything like that anymore. Maybe that's why everyone is so stressed out and shrill these days.

  28. b.... ....

How can anyone not like this?! ... I mean, what a tremendously beautiful voice and song.

  29. A.... S....

This is the best version sang by Nat King Cole. Effortless and soothing.

  30. P.... K....

ah Nat was b4 his time = he was so very talented and gave us such happymomentws listening tohis talented singing and piano playing. Thank you Nat for giving us so much of yourself. I
feel he felt something of his personjal self in singing these ballets, much like Frank Sinatra, and\that is why they still are so good. pk

As you can see by my many uploads of Joni James and Nat King Cole recordings, they are both among my favorite performers. As always, thanks for your insights.

  32. W.... B....

Joni James and Nat King Cole were great friends and, in fact, their families were great friends in Los Angeles. Nat Cole's version is very close to the famous Johnny Mathis rendition. It was Joni herself who came up with idea of putting the song to a light rock beat (which she liked for both listening and dancing). She felt it was time to move into the rock area but she wanted to do it her way and only with top-level material. The recording session itself was sensational, everything live!

  33. C.... ....

    This is sublime !
A million thanks for sharing this 5* post.

  34. E.... J....

There goes my heart, and here am I...

  35. P.... ....

I remember my mother singing this (or were we duetting!) circa 1965. i had a spool tape recorder kindly given to me by a very well off friend of my uncle. Wish I still had the tape!! Brilliant song. My mum sang it well too.
