Cole, Nat King - Stardust Lyrics
And now the purple dusk of twilight time
Steals across the meadows of my heart
High up in the sky the little stars climb
Always reminding me that we're apart
Leaving me a song that will not die
Love is now the stardust of yesterday
The music of the years gone by
Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely night dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song
Beside a garden wall
When stars are bright
You are in my arms
The nightingale tells his fairy tale
A paradise where roses bloom
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain
My stardust melody
The memory of love's refrain

Listening in 2020🎶
Nay King Cole was a Number 1 Class act ! When he sung a Song he Owned it ! His voice was as strong as Steel but soft as Butter , a velvety quality ! He hit every note Perfectly ! I listened to him as a boy 9 years old ! I never stopped listening I’m 69 !
And now the purple dusk of twilight time
Steals across the meadows of my heart
High up in the sky the little stars climb
Always reminding me that we're apart
You wander down the lane and far away
Leaving me a song that will not die
Love is now the stardust of yesterday
The music of the years gone by
Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely night dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
But that was long ago
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song
Beside a garden wall
When stars are bright
You are in my arms
The nightingale tells his fairy tale
A paradise where roses bloom
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain

What a voice.
That's ridiculous
Peace Qurious Romance Memories Happiness
1959, The Ritz Bar in Singapore...17 year old exposed to real life but this song was repeatedly played and made everything alright......now at 77 years old it makes me all misty-eyed...still the greatest song.
YALL READY FOR 2020
Love Nat... Love the song.....dislike the arrangement. It is too flowery and at some points it overwhelms the performance. The new remix and remaster drops the strings back and allows Nat's great vocal to be truly appreciated. You can find that mix around here somewhere on youtube.
Probably one of the best songs ever written by one of the best singers ever who ever lived.Pure magic.Timeless.
Reminds me of walle
Does not get more perfect than this!
The greatest crooner ever
He's a good looking dude.
Wow can you get any better.
I love his voice, so soothing.
This is the best !
A man who doesn’t seem to get the credit he deserves,,
This man was a class act and grand interpreter of song.
Nat's voice is much soft & sweet than Frankie's! That's the cuestion!
A very beautiful and moving song by a great singer.
. By far the greatest voice ever recorded for music....
One of the most beautiful songs ever...
At 91 years of age, my father has always maintained that Nat King Cole is the best...
Beautiful voice.
We were married 40 years ago. She passed away last year. There is great comfort in this song for me.
Sighhhhhhhhhh...........so very sorry to read that. I so hope that your Wife wasn't sick/miserable and didn't suffer for a long time. Many sympathies to you.
Perfection!
Absolute perfection so badly missed
My favor
This has always been my favorite song- and nobody sings it like the great Nat King Cole
きこちゃ🌃
This sounds like it belongs on the soundtrack of the Marrissa Tomei movie "Only You"
No ever sang it better than Nat King Cole

thanks, Hoagy. Not a bad actor, either.
iNCOMPARABLE.
The best intro/prelude (?) to a song I have ever heard. Beautiful expression of sadness.
This may very well be, the loveliest song of all time.
At least for me anyway;)
It's songs like these and people who sing them so exquisitely that remind us how it is to be human beings.
Beautiful 😍
Did Bette Davis ever hear this version?? Her fave song. Beautiful man. Beautiful voice. Beautiful song. I’m in heaven!
474 dislike. 474 Sinatra heads 😉😉😉😉😜😜😜
I wish the arrangement were less sentimental, but he sings this as no one ever has, beautifully phrased and heartfelt.
Right now,October 20,2019
2019 NEEDS LOVELY SONGS LIKE THIS!!!!!!!
Not only is Nat's voice wonderful, but the backup is timelessly beautiful
Honestly one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs ever...
Without the faintest shadow of the slightest doubt!!
just incredible!
It is a difficult song sung to perfection by a great voice that was God's gift to all of us!!! We are blessed to be able to hear Nate King Cole sing!!!
This version really invites to dream! Could have been the B-side of Mona Lisa. His later songs are recommendable. Try Too Young and of course Mona Lisa.
For Stardust try Bing Crosby's 1932 version.
So many beautiful songs sung by the best popular music singer ever, but there's something so magical about this song,it takes me to happier times and a certain love that was'nt to be and puts tears in my eye's.
The voice , and timing one the reason Nat king Cole have no equal .
A timeless singer with a song that will last for eternity..
THIS SONG IS PLAYING ON HEAVENS ELEVATOR....GOING UP!
my great grandmother's favorite song. rest in peace 💛 August 06 , 1926 - October 07 , 2019. love you 💖

WOW! Does it get any more perfect than this! Amazing!
..................:)
There are tears in my eyes
The first lovesong my sister sang with Harald. He left and she kept remembring until she died at 80. Her last Words: we are but stardust!
This singer and this song are a gift from God. There can be no other explanation.
Sublime.
*_My Favorite version_*_ of this timeless Hoagy Carmichael Masterpiece. _*_Nat did it best, I believe..._*
This and Willie Nelson's are amazing...
Was only 7 when Mr. Cole died. Was as devastated as a child could be when I had found out he died. He had a weekly show that came on and I never missed a show. My grandmother always let me watch it. I was just mesmerized by his voice. I will forever miss him. A real shame he had to get cancer!
Such a beautiful and smooth voice. Too bad the noisy commercials ruin it.
コルトレ―ンの演奏と同じくらいです。🎵😃
The string arranging is something else.....what a show off. I love it!
Bette Davis' favorite song...
Nats voice is hauntingly intimate ❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯🚬🚬🚬
Velvety smooth. Nat had one of those unique and beautiful voices. So rare. Instantly recognized. Like Sinatra or Mozart. One of our national treasures. And his Christmas music is a tradition in my house like Bing Crosby.
Think about the time Nat grow up in. Ahh What a Melody
"Blessed to enjoy, Music..Really👀💗👏
He was soooo smooth as silk.
Jojo reference
Devine.! X
This man had an incredible voice. What gets me is it appears that he sang without effort. Amazing! I have been a fan of Nat King Cole before I heard Elvis or Chuck Berry.
Whenever I hear this "Nat"ural masterpiece I feel that a dysfunctional family maybe collectively tapping their feet, momentarily pretending to be human!
There'll never be another voice like Nat's. Simply amazing.
There can only be one greater voice than Nat King Cole's..his Creator...

9-5-'19. beautiful lyrics, written a few years after melody.
It is perfection, the arrangement that allows his voice to be the delicate whisper... The mellow tone that keeps you mesmerized... What else is there to say?
Beautifully done as always.
Whoever wrote the lyrics of this song is a genius...not repetitive meaningless and mindless words over and over, no rhyme for rhyme's sake...very meaningful. Melody is perfect to.
Memories of my uncle singing this song one Christmas in our local...had never heard it before...blown away...Love Nat king Cole singing it...wonderful.
