Between stiff Broadway versions and the drunken lounge torch song versions of this very romantic song is Nat's relaxed soft, wonderful version
Nat's voice, velvet meets whiskey and cigarettes, is in full evidence here. And the instrumental arrangement on this tune is stunning. It starts out as a sweet, almost lounge-like ditty, then halfway through, the biggest of big bands kicks in and blows the roof off the place for all of FIFTEEN SECONDS then it's back to the lounge for the rest of the tune. Amazing.
Simply amazing. Have loved his incredibly velvety voice since I was 12, when I first heard him. Taken aback and loving every minute of it. Truly, the King.
