Cole, Nat King - Answer Me, My Love Lyrics

Answer me, oh, my love
Just what sin have I been guilty of?
Tell me how I came to lose your love
Please answer me, sweetheart

You were mine yesterday
I believed that love was here to stay
Won't you tell me where I've gone astray?
Please answer me, my love

If you're happier without me
I'll try not to care
But if you still think about me
Please listen to my prayer

You must know I've been true
Won't you say that we can start anew?
In my sorrow now I turn to you
Please answer me, my love

(If you're happier without me)
(I'll try not to care)
But if you still think about me
Please listen to my prayer

You must know (you must know)I've been true (I've been true)
Won't you say that we can start anew?
In my sorrow now I turn to you
Please answer me, my love

Answer me, my love

This song became my anthem 23 years ago when my wife decided she wanted me out of her life and thereby took all that I valued of my life- her, our family, her extended family, the house, all of which I loved with all my heart- away from me. I can't hear this song without tears.

  10. K.... H....

  21. T.... C....

Beautiful. Could of it influenced Paul McCartney unconsciously to write “Yesterday”? Perhaps. Perhaps not. xoxo The Clarences

    T.... C....

He sings the word "yesterday" and a few chords at start sway a similar way so could have influenced him, but overall they are very different tracks. Everything influences everything. Some Motown artists said The Beatles influenced them!

    T.... C....

@Sole Knight Ab-so-lute-ly!!! xoxo The Clarences

  22. I.... T....

Наверное, одна из лучших песен о любви . Исполнение - гениальное.

Name a better male voice in all of music

  24. J.... R....

I know she is better off because in all honesty there is someone else can offer her far far more than I can.. don't mean that I don't care for her......

    J.... R....

James, I can really feel your pain. Who knows what you may have been able to offer her! There's so much more than "things."

  25. A.... M....

No sé porqué pero esta canción me hizo llorar, y más que de tristeza sino porque uno siente bonito al recordar a sus seres queridos :D

    W.... H....

  44. J.... H....

I don't know whether it's his best, but certainly my favorite.

    J.... H....

to label one of nat's song as "best", is a very difficult task

  45. w.... A....

This is Nat King Cole's best song.

    w.... A....

Amazingly, this is not his most popular; not even close. However, I have always believed it was by far his best: and one of the all time best.

    w.... A....

On the street where you live!

    w.... A....

Kenneth Dunlap, I agree. Of all Nat King's songs this has always been my favorite. Music is a great reminder of when and where we were when we heard a song for the first time. I am from Texas and was attending a boy's academy in Austin, TX. in '53. After my junior year a number of us went to Wisconsin during the summer to work in the pea fields for Del Monte Foods. That's where I was the first time I heard "Answer Me." I so remember I wished I had a girl friend!

    w.... A....

william Aggrey-Orleans Time and the River was my favorite.
